SO, This is one of the days I filmed in Tokyo. Had a whole list of places to go and then it rained and then it was too cold and then I couldn't feel my fingers or bottom lip, also my phone was on 2% battery, So I mostly ate at home. It was still good. Hopefully I can gather all Tokyo footage pretty soon and show you a little bit more of my trip! For now, hope you enjoy this video and that you're well! LOVEU, Nina
I’m a single mum to three children who gets overwhelmed at times and your videos always make me feel calmer, happier and strong to take control of my life by being healthier, mindful and positive . Thanks guys x
You look like you are just thriving, so so so beautiful. Your channel is the reason I’ve been transitioning into a vegan lifestyle, you’ve made it seem so simple and beautiful, thank you so much for sharing your life with this community ❥ love love love
(No joke) i am rewatching all of your videos. Your videos are everything, they are so relaxing! Thank you for all your effort!! please keep it up!!!!!!!!!
Have you ever thought of doing podcasts? I would loooove to listen to them, you have always something interesting to say. I don´t know what it is but ultimately you changed a lot, in a good and positive way, you seem more happy, relaxed and your radiating positivity. Would love to hear about the journey to this "state" of being...or is it just sunny weather in Costa Rica that does the wonder? :)
just got home extremely tired from uni , your video just helped make me feel better and more at ease so thank you for that ..i love the way you edit every video with care nina , much love !
While I was living in Japan I found that a lot of the big name grocery stores priced their fruits and veg pretty high. That's just the nature of Tokyo, everything is just expensive and smaller quantity. However, there are some smaller family run grocery stores that are sometimes a little hidden but are priced much better and the size of their fruits and veg are ginormous!
Everybody seems to be so enthusiastic about Tokyo, I am quite of the opposite opinion... all these large buildungs, the many people, the tram and technology scare me... I need nature around me to feel confident and enjoy life. Nevertheless, I hope you have a great time, Nina! Thanks for showing us part of your life. Also, I have to apologise for my bad English; I'm not a native speaker. Have a wonderful day! : )
I’m Japanese and I spent eight months in Canada but I was so surprised fruits are not expensive in other countries. Fruits in Japan are very expensive because Japan don’t have enough farmers and lands for fruits. It means the amount of fruits is few:( Anyway, I hope you had a good time in Japan
Omg that sticky rice chunk at 5:45 looked so darn satisfying. Love how much mushroom you put in there, that's my style! ;-) What does lotus root taste like??? It looks so magical!
holisticmaya Lotus root doesn't have that much of a taste; it's pretty neutral but has a very crunchy and crisp texture. If you have ever had jicama, it kind of tastes like that.
Hello, I live in Japan. I'm very happy to upload this video. Vegan culture has not been familiar yet in Japan, but it seemed like I enjoyed it. I recommend Japanese sweets, Konpeitō to you. It is a delicious and beautiful Japanese-style sweet. Take care of yourself! (I am Japanese, so English may not be very good, sorry:))
Nina! Do you remember where you bought your gym clothes? Especially those leggings? I was in Tokyo Feb 2017 and it left such an impression on me, I think about it all the time. Can't wait to go back and try teaching English there when I'm finished with my degree!! I really recommend the modern art museum that's close to the Palace Gardens! Hope you're having the most amazing time x
Ahhh i recently went to japan as my quinceañera trip (here in Argentina you usually choose between a trip and a party) and it was SO FREAKING AMAZING! I want to go back already. Ugh. I love all of your videos! Thanks for always uploading such beautiful content 💕💕💕
this is such a relaxing, beautifully done video! all those mushrooms in that soup you made looked sooo good 😍 looks like a perk of living in Japan! keep on thriving xo
i am not sure why I lost you, but I am so happy you landed on my feed again! I think I would just gorge myself with vegan ramen the entire time if I went to Tokyo=D
I want to thank you for this video, because I actually make that lotus root, mushroom, other veg soup over rice all the time now. (I live in Tokyo and it can be hard to find the ingredients to make new things and mix it up, and I'm not super creative lol)
Did you see the perfect strawberries that were like bubble wrapped while you were there? Japan is such an amazing country. I’ll definitely be back one day to explore more
YES! I saw $100 strawberries and $200 ones! So crazy! And I actually splurged a little one time (I mean I paid $10 for 2 HA, I'm not at the $100 mark yet) and got myself some fancy, expensive strawberries and they were the best strawberries I've ever had. So, so sweet.
cam & nina I did exactly the same 😂 if anything I think they tasted a bit too good.. artificial (at least that’s what I’ll tell myself until I can afford more than a singular strawberry)
Now THAT was a beautiful video. Thank you for a that. " A sweet potato for good measure" just about killed me. I wish I could make other people in my life understand the value of a sweet potato.
Your video made me feel so nostalgic. I've lived in Tokyo for 1,5 year also with the super small kitchen. And I think a lot of apples come from Japan, apples from aomori (青森) are well known if I remember correctly! But yeah fruit except for banana🍌 super expensive. but omg I drooled at the yakiimo (sweet potato) it's my favourite food in Japan! 😂😍 I hope you had a great time!!
The apples were incredible! And the sweet potatoes were my favourite as well! The fact that you can just grab a nice and warm sweet potato in the city is such a great idea WHY ISN'T THIS EVERYWHERE. Had a beautiful time and can't wait to go back! Lots of love!
So cute! I have been receiving your mails, Nina, and I was so happy when you wrote about doing this trip. And about all the other topics, of course! :) I went on one in Europe and still feels unreal that I did it. One question, is soy milk good after all? I researched a bit and dont know what to think about it. Lots of hugs!
Thanks for the video. How do you feel about living in Tokyo as a vegan for a longer amount of time? I'm possibly moving to Kioto for half a year and I'm so worried because I've heard horror stories about prices of vegetables in Japan...
Oh yes, I must admit it was a bit of a struggle being vegan in Japan, especially in rural places. I had many digestive issues and many times ended up eating milk or fish broth or some sort of animal product by mistake. Veggies and fruits are ridiculously expensive! Like INSANE. HOWEVER, it is definitely possible. It's simply being prepared and being confident when it comes to asking. Things like noodles and mushrooms are quite reasonable so I ended up eating lots of soup. There are also many vegan restaurants to try out! Japan is a wonderful place and I would hate for people to miss out simply because it's a bit harder being vegan there. The people, the temples, nature all makes up for the extra effort it takes to find something to eat. And if all else fails, there's always a 7/11 on some corner with some riceballs and some soy chocolate milk cartons : )
I'm currently staying in Kyoto for a year (now I only have 3 months left though). Veggies are mostly okay, and Japan is very big on seasons, so you can save a bit of money by buying seasonal produce. However, fruit is still going to be very expensive (and wrapped in plastic). But I'd say that Kyoto is a good city for vegans, lots of options to eat out :)) If you use Facebook, I'd also recommend checking out for of the Vegan in Japan groups, those are very helpful survival tools.
I think one of my favourite places so far. I made myself the promise that I would go back very soon so I can explore all of Japan. It's a place like no other!

I figured out the whole google translate thing a little late in the game haha! But it was so useful in the end! I definitely had the famous Japanese Soup Curry and it was so delicious! It was actually in Shimokitazawa, which was definitely one of my favourite places : ) And I think I'll never be able to have a rice ball again because I had WAY TOO MANY. THANKS 7/11 FOR HAVING ME!
cam & nina hahaha so true!! I couldn’t look at plain rice for so long... and the hurt I felt when Lawson made their veggie noodles with surprise fish stock... I still havent forgiven!

great video! It’s a bummer that the weather wasn’t the best but i hope you had a memorable trip. Im from Tokyo so I am well aware of how vegan unfriendly Japan is...i bet you 10/10 ppl don’t even know what ‘vegan’ is...hahaha (sad). cam & nina I loved it! It was 30 degrees Fahrenheit which is freezing for me since I'm from Florida 😆. We did eat a lot of onigiri from 7/11 and I didn't get to try any sweet potatoes :((. Too bad my sis and I were only there for a week

I already know I'm going to watch this video several times haha. very beautiful! Japan looks amazing and magical
You are glowing Nina!

Your aesthetic is so amazing and beautiful, I love it
Oh and if you haven’t already- check out Shimokitazwa and go to The vegan ramen place! I think it’s called Food Therapy or something like that x
Hello, I live in Japan. I'm very happy to upload this video. Vegan culture has not been familiar yet in Japan, but it seemed like I enjoyed it. I recommend Japanese sweets, Konpeitō to you. Kabocha and sweet potatoes were my staples when I traveled to Tokyo! Try visiting Trueberry next time you visit. It’s absolutely lovely!
It became a bit of an obsession looking for a sweet potato stand anywhere I went!
The best snack! Why don't we have these everywhere!
I love your hair color right now!! Looks so blonde and pretty 💖💖
thank you, thank you!
What a beautiful day, you always inspire me to try new things and stay grounded!
This really warms my heart.

Could you do a video on how to afford traveling at such a young age?
you are looking so lovely and tan! thanks for always reminding me to take care of myself. and the makeshift kitchen is cute as heck.
everything is so tiny and cute in Japan, even kitchens and bathrooms
And thank you, thank you.
It must've been the Costa Rican sun because I definitely didn't get a tan in Tokyo.

Had some beautiful blue skied days in the end, but of course the day I chose to film it was pouring with rain : (
Still had a wonderful time

Oh wow just got back from Tokyo and ate that exact same ramen!! x
I found better ramen at Tokyo Station! It was amazing!
Did you try it?
De mis videos favoritos
So excited for your videos always

Lots of love
ahhh this Video is so calming to watch ! really cool. :) And your hair looks so amazing - is this your natural hair-colour?
Amo los videos sobre la comida en un dia💖❤️❤️❤️
What is the difference between porridge and oatmeal? Or is it just the same thing and its called differently depending on the country?
nina, i love the music. do you have a spotify account i can follow?
You can look me up, Nina Cooper Montagne : )
There's a few playlists on there!
Do you also have a soundcloud account?

It's a place like no other!
Your videos make me so happy!! ❣️❣️❣️❣️
This makes me so happy!
Hope you're having a FANTASTIC week : )
Do you have any tips for girl travelling alone ? I'm going to Paris next week !! :)
So what’s up with you and cam doing separate videos? Are guys just off doing your own thing? Gives us an update please!!!!
Amazing video as always, Nina :D ! May I ask what camera do you use ? Thank you :) xxx
What kind of white rice is that? it looks incredible!
Where did you find takeaway sweet potato in Japan? I looked all over and searched the Internet trying to find where I could buy them 😍😂
Such a beautiful video as always! Would be my dream to have one meal cooked by you :D
The mushrooms look incredible, you're making me jealous :D
I ate around 5 servings of mushrooms a day : E
Hey! Such a nice video!! :D I just wonder, where did you get your shoes from? looks so comfy and nice!!
Those are my Dr Martens! They are extremely comfortable and basically the only pair of shoes I own.
I got mine from a second hand shop because new ones can be very pricey.
They do have vegan styles now which is awesome! But they are an investment, but probably a good one as they usually last forever.
: )
I love your hair colour omg what is it?
Love your videos! You should come to Brazil :)
where's cam? did they break up? :(
I loved this video! Made me want to go back to Japan immediately! We went in December ❤️ it was my first trip back there since going vegetarian. It does make it difficult to eat but if you use google translate’s scanner app you can generally figure out what’s in packaged foods.. and CoCo curry which is a chain and in lots of places has a vegan curry option! I ate at lots of yummy places lots of Coco curry and lots of onigiri/rice balls ❤️
I figured out the whole google translate thing a little late in the game haha! But it was so useful in the end!
I definitely had the famous Japanese Soup Curry and it was so delicious! It was actually in Shimokitazawa, which was definitely one of my favourite places : )
And I think I'll never be able to have a rice ball again because I had WAY TOO MANY. THANKS 7/11 FOR HAVING ME!
cam & nina hahaha so true!! I couldn’t look at plain rice for so long... and the hurt I felt when Lawson made their veggie noodles with surprise fish stock... I still havent forgiven!
maekarlie hi I would love to travel to Japan in December just wondering do they celebrate Christmas or is it not a big deal. I want to go to a non christmas country , just want to escape the whole western Christmas idea for the month.
241Genevieve hey! They don’t exactly celebrate Christmas - there are lots of fun things to do, carols and decorations; but everyone goes to work as normal on Christmas Day. I love Japan in December.. it’s generally cold but clear and crisp weather 😁💜 We really enjoyed it
maekarlie okay that doesn't sound bad I wanted a normal-ish day. Thanks again .
Nice

Thanks for all your videos! :)
Oh, thank you for watching!
How do you manage with the language barriers travelling alone? I've always wanted to but feel this is something major that always puts me off
For anyone thinking of going to Japan, there is a nice youtube channel called Vegan In Japan
YEEEEESSS, more videos!!! :D
Nina, I missed you.
What is the song called at the beginning??? :)
The jacket at 0:13 looks like the silhouette of an Easter island statue head 🗿
great video! It’s a bummer that the weather wasn’t the best but i hope you had a memorable trip. Im from Tokyo so I am well aware of how vegan unfriendly Japan is...i bet you 10/10 ppl don’t even know what ‘vegan’ is...hahaha (sad). Omg I was just there on december!!!
ahh! did you love it? did you freeze? did you eat all the rice balls from 7/11? did you eat a sweet potato on the train? questions!
cam & nina I loved it! It was 30 degrees Fahrenheit which is freezing for me since I'm from Florida 😆. We did eat a lot of onigiri from 7/11 and I didn't get to try any sweet potatoes :((. Too bad my sis and I were only there for a week
東京へようこそ!
Nina !!!
HELLO!
HOW ARE WE
Help guys does anyone recall that video of cam writing down what he grateful for each day?! I can’t find it or maybe it got deleted?
