- Welcome to the latest episode of The Locals! Today I am at Swindon on the Great Western Main Line where services are seen by Great Western Railway!
Swindon was great to re-visit but this station has changed a lot! The station sees a massive number of IETs call here but this has always been a station where one train has been the dominant one. There are local trains here as well but normally they are hourly, on this occasion I saw one local service. The views remain very good and with the wires up it looks better! Overall a lovely station but certainly very repetitive after a while but that's always been the way here. I would recommend a visit.

Great video Kieran! Reading-Reigate, Gatwick Airport and London Paddington-Cardiff Central
They are Paddington to Newbury Chippenham Bristol parkway will be to Cardiff Central there is a bit of electric at didcot east curve but that one won’t really count
London Paddington - Bristol Parkway is fully electrified but will be extended towards Cardiff Central. 3rd rail at Reading and towards London Waterloo which isn’t on the GWML but reading is
Both correct!
This Great Western Railway try to London Paddington Reading and Swindon between Cheltenham Spa and Bristol Parkway
Platform 4 for the 12:44 Great Western Railway service to Carmarthen via Swansea Calling at Newport Cardiff Central Bridgend Port Talbot Parkway Neath Swansea Llanelli Pembury & Bury Port and Carmarthen
Nice video, Is Didcot parkway eligible for the locals, if so can you do it?
I find it funny how even a 5 car 800 is meant to stop at the stations on the Pembroke Dock line, the platforms are tiny
I know 😂
It’s just depressing not to see HST’s here anymore
I know ☹
Hsts will still be around in Scotland. And there are some 4-5 car converted hsts to a 715 class on the cornish mainline
3rd rail from the junction at Dorchester to Weymouth on Weymouth to Waterloo line
Did you know sometimes Hereford services from Paddington call at Didcot Parkway
I don’t know if all of Reading to Gatwick is all electrified🤨
It's not, sections of it are though, which is why the new trains ordered for that route are tri-mode
They will be. The Paddington to Oxford, and the reading to Gatwick line, because they will order 769 trains to replace all the rest of the 166s out of paddington and the branch lines
One isn’t on Gwr which is Reading to Waterloo
Well the hole of the SWML is electrified.
You should come back to doing guildford and godalming, new timetables with more trains running.
Guildford is on my to do list. Don't worry about that..
Also 3rd rail Southampton Central to Portsmouth Harbour
Actually from Redbridge sorry not from Southampton
Please can you do cambridge great video thanks
Will be doing it at some stage.
The Didcot east curve I meant from Paddington
Not completely I only said Dorchester junction because Dorchester West is not electrified
It’s 3rd rail
3rd rail Reading to Gatwick Airport
To be fair I’m wrong partly maybe
@@OnTheMoveTransport parts of it are electrified but not all of it which is why the new trains ordered for than line are tri-mode
Bristol parkway
Correct
