If you want to know what the 90s were like, it's basically like today but without the smartphones, no social media, no streaming, no news 24 hrs except cnn...
And you had an easier time shutting out the world. And nobody ruined anything. We just enjoyed things for what they were. And we kept our opinions to ourselves...for the most part. That i know of.

Born '86, so the 90's was my time. And a wonderful time it was! I think it was objectively better than now, in all ways other than technology. Even the tech back then was great in it's own way.

    • @dbzispimpin
      @dbzispimpin 5 месяцев назад +1

I'd trade in all the technology today to go back...
Yes HD tv is great, yes having infinite amounts of information from the internet is useful, yes a cellphone is super convenient, yes video games today look amazing, yes movies today look spectacular visually...
But while TV wasn't as high def back in the 90s, it was special, family gathered together to watch shows and movies together, and going out to the movies was a special event.
Having a world of information at your fingertips with the internet is fantastic, but it also makes us dumber, we no longer need to use our minds, our memory, we just pull out our little computer phone and type in to search for whatever information we need... we don't even memorize phone numbers or addresses anymore... we don't use our MINDS for much of anything these days... it's no wonder everyone is suffering from some kind of psychological dysfunction, ADHD, Anxiety, Anger, Depression... etc... our mind is a muscle-like(although not technically a muscle), and if we don't use it, like any muscle that goes unused, it withers...
Yes having cellphones is wonderful, especially in emergency scenarios, or to keep tabs on children and keep them safe, but I believe it's equally important to untether yourself from the world and find some peace and solace from the constant barrage of emails, texts, voicemails, voice messages, video messages, social media... etc... which at its core, is a large reason for a lot of the anxiety and stress many people suffer from today... you can't just leave the house and disconnect from everyone anymore...
Mainstream Videos games today are visually beautiful, but they lack that magical effect that games had in the 80s and 90s... I'm sure a large part of this one is because I've grown older too, but it's also an objective truth in many ways, because while my experience with games may have evolved simply because I'm an adult, the experience of opening games on Christmas, or standing in line for a midnight release of a big release title, or gathering together to play games for couch co-op games, is not common today at all, even among today's youth... kids are more interested in Tiktok and social media, and the newest cellphones, than games or toys... I even read an article the other day that said that kids between 8-12 are no longer the largest target market for toys anymore, it's adults aged between 37-50yrs old. It's literally us old heads buying toys now, not kids anymore, and that's tragic as hell considering how magical it was to open toys on Christmas and Birthdays, and play outside with friends during our childhood.
And finally, Movies today may be visually stunning and Computer Generated Visual Effects may be leaps and bounds beyond anything they were ever capable of during the 80s and 90s, but again, in the 80s and 90s, there's plenty of movies that have STOOD the test of time because they weren't so reliant on technology. Film makers were basically part time magicians, in that they had to make a perfect mix of physical prosthetics and prop special effects, miniatures, and camera trickery in order to achieve some of the most amazing special effects ever put to film, even by today's standards... movies like Star Wars, Blade Runner, Jurassic Park, Terminator, Independence Day... etc, are TIMELESS classics, and will FOREVER look visually amazing, because the masterclass film makers behind them didn't just throw all their efforts into post production and CG, they fought to figure out solutions to problems and limitations of the time, and in the end it ended up delivering a BETTER product than what many of the film makers today deliver, because many film makers today have become complacent, lazy and over-reliant on computer generated effects, simply to pump out films and make money fast, rather than doing it for the art...
Sorry for the book, but yea, while things may have been more primitive and analog back in the 80s and 90s, they were better times, and it's tragic the world that kids have to live in today, it'd be nice if they could experience what it was like for us, even for a short while... maybe one day, once virtual reality progresses enough, we can all just plug in like The Matrix and just go back to the 80s and 90s and stay there permanently and just leave this current shitty world behind for good... i'll be first in line!

the 90s really felt normal, free compared to current times even before the likes of 9/11 and diana passing away, I dont know why but every time I sleep and wake up the next day this reality feels like some fever dream that no ones woken up from we just consume and absorb anything no one thinks for themselves just follow orders like good little sheeple.
now we just slaves to screens and technology seems to decide everything, what we watch, read or how we think and feel. not what we were taught in the 90s. gosh I even miss basic appliances that were affordable and durable back then now ifs like everythings triple the price and breaks so much you have to replace everything so soon. also who the fuck is messing with time? the 90s felt like nothing and the weekends feel like 5 minute intervals.
if there is ever a time machine you bet im going to take it otherwise this music is lovely and relaxing.

Everything was very different, even in the early 2000s.
I know that's obvious, change comes with time, and the new folks that are brought into this world every day.
But I can't shake the feeling that something really terrible happened somewhere along the line.
Like we lost the battle, but we were blissfully unaware that there was ever a battle to begin with.
I miss being able to chat with people, without them having some outrageously disrespectful thing to say.
Everyone is correct nowadays, opinions mean more than anything we've ever scientifically figured out, annnnnd it's terrifying.

Listening to this playlist and thinking about what it was like to grow up in the 90’s/early 2000’s, and how life was just so much better back then, just about everything was.
Maybe it’s just me viewing the past through rose-coloured glasses, but I swear things really were better back then.
Most if not all of this self-indulgent nonsense didn’t exist back then, no social media, no smartphones, nothing.
Feels like we’ve robbed the current and future generations after us of the ability to just go outside and play and just enjoy life for the simple pleasures, and that feels so wrong to me.
One day, things will get better.

Even as a kid growing up in the 90s, I always thought how drab and dull fashion and interior design were
      Sharp suits, but grey
      Walls with plain, pastel colours
It was just us kids who had colourful clothes
I think it was a very calm decade, however

    • @Aeus2095
      @Aeus2095 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@utopicdreamer I agree.
I personally think everything now is the same fusion of black, grey and brown/wood colour tones, at least back then things were colourful, and just generally were more intriguing to look at overall and had more character to them that made them stand out, and seemingly less people were scared of doing so than today I think.
A good comparison I have for this is how mall interiors have evolved since the 90’s, along with fast food building design, specifically McDonalds.
Maybe that’s a silly and poor medium to pick, but it seems vividly plain to me how things have changed to be less expressive as time has gone on.

The 90s had more safety hazards to play with and we had inner peace. Something that can't be said these days for social media. If you were lucky enough to have a Discovery Zone, you know what I mean by that. Also lunchables were smacking with lunch time followed by playing Nintendo 64 after school. When the GameCube came, it was when the internet peaked in peace and prosperity. We could make fun of everyone and made far more monetization back then.

Being teenager in 90's is the best time in my life . I rather live in that era than in this over-unprotected modern world. So sad to see these kids nowadays not spend their precious time with surroundings, only on digital world. Please brings back the old good times😅

Yo what’s that song called that starts at 2:19:12???? Because that was freaking awesome!!! I’m NYC and it felt like I was at a nightclub in 1994 with this music! That’s how my father met my mother. He was 20 and she was 24. Also I was born in 1998!

    Yes, brother, more issues
Was bullied in school and had shit stolen from me in elementary school by sick people all in the name of poverty and the misfortunes of other kids are my responsibility
Was scloded by my father for buying a german pencil and a italian notebook journal fabriano Ecoquoa journal and a 2 dollar 50 cent german pencil
    The Italian notebook cost $6.65
With a $50 bill my aunt gave me in 2009 for my 14 birthday
"Are we in africa?your using too many goddamn pencils like your an african child in school instead of a pen"
Not realizing the pencils are required by school
And i ld rsther use a pencil than a pen
Wish i was a kid again in 2001

LOL at the nostalgia in the comments. The world in the 90s was just as chaotic as the world today. Crime was off the charts, terror attacks, the Clarence Thomas confirmation and Long Dong Silver, the Rodney King riots, the OJ trial, blowjobs in the white house, impeachment, I mean... it goes on and on. What most people in these comments remember is their sheltered childhood. Not the 90s. Get it right.
