That was probably the best instructional video I've ever seen. And I don't mean the technique. I mean your presentation. Simple, precise, efficient. Exactly how I like to learn. Thanks, Marty!
This is the single most easy-to-understand tutorial for PS I have ever seen. Others should take notes before making a tutorial. Thank you!
Now THIS is how a tutorial is done…great job!

I always love your clear, straightforward tutorials. For some reason, when I set the blue layer as a screen, I can't see anything under it. I've retried four times and I'm following directions correct (I think). Any advise?
I probably never do it but thank you for showing me how easy its done
I have almost all your teachings.
Thank you.
excellent tutorial,, so clear,,,
Good work.
The inverted version is actually more accurate to actual architecture blueprints. How blueprints were made back in the day was that the architect would do the drawings on a translucent sheet like mylar or velum, and then position it over the blue paper. When exposed to light, the dark areas in the original drawing would mask those same areas on the blue sheet. The light altered the chemical composition of the blue pigment leaving you with white lines on the blue sheet corresponding exactly to the original drawing. It was a method of making many copies from a single original before copiers were invented.
The Jared,
However blueprints became inverted making them easier to read and make out. 25 years ago I was a draftsman and I actually drew out the plans on velum based on the designer's basic drawings. Once i had each sheet drawn up I would lay it on the special yellow chemical paper and run it through the light machine like you talked about. The drawings' lines would prevent the yellow chemical from dissolving while the rest of the sheet whited out. Then I ran that same sheet through the second part of the machine which heated the paper chemical making the lines and text turn blue. Thus the blueprint looked exactly like the finished product Marty shows here.
A great tutorial. I got excellent results on PS Elements 11 in just a few minutes, following these steps.
Thanks so much for the tutorial :)!
I could not have liked this more! Thank you! Please do more Architectural in the near future (:
O software é Photoshop CS5.
You, sir, are a genius. Thank you so much !
Great video!
Such a good tutorial, as expected. Thanks again Marty. I feel like you made Photshop, but you're just keeping quite about it! :p
This tutorial was simply epic
I applaud you for not taking fucking forever to explain like other tutorials. You know what you're doing and what you're about to say and you don't say, "Then you press this...thing..."
Good tutorial!!!
Brilliant - as usual.
very very nice one
Thx! Definately subscribing
Muchas gracias por el tutorial. Estoy aprendiendo...Mi trabajo quedó muy bien. Saludos! like!
TheBranko15...Try: Image > Mode > RGB, 8bits / per channel. In any case, after "find edges", the next step is to remove all the color.
very nice.thank you
Thanks you are a good instructor. .

Loved this video!! Still don't know how to invert the colors to get the blue background.
tyler jaggs...
1) Make a composite snapshot of your finished image.
2) Invert it. (Ctrl or Cmd + I)
3) Desaturate it. (Shift + Ctrl or Cmd + U)
4) Drag the blue color layer above it. Make sure the blend mode is Screen.
5) Make a composite snapshot.
6) Call up the Levels window (Ctrl or Cmd + L) and adjust the levels to taste.
Thanks for the tutorial. :-)
Thank you!
You don't have to start over.
1) Make a composite snapshot of your finished image.
2) Invert it. (Ctrl or Cmd + I)
3) Desaturate it. (Shift + Ctrl or Cmd + U)
4) Drag the blue color layer above it. Make sure the blend mode is Screen.

wespe2008...Vielen Dank. Bitte informieren Sie Ihren Freunden und Kollegen, die Photoshop lernen wollen, über meine Tutorials und Blue Lightning TV.
Subscribed and have got limitless praise for your assistance and generosity. I've been following your tutorials to the letter and DL'd the Marks and scratches.abr but can't locate in my CS6. It's there on my hard drive and I have the default setting for CS6 to open (and it does)...but I can't find them. Sorry to hassle you but any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Much love from Australia.
Thanks Marty
very nice!
Can you Marty or someone can tell me how to record a tutorial or a screen capture?
Pleas.
Thanks much
Great.
One would have to inspect your PSD file to see where the problem is.
Thanks
All your tutorials are very clear!
Still I have one question:
How do you invert blue on white into white on blue?
cmd. + I gives yellow and black.
Excellente
naterunge...It could be due to any number of reasons. One would have to inspect your document for any errors.
I like how he says easy steps, yeah easy to the person knows how to do this
Trifan Alexandru...Due to "usage rights" issues, I can share it with you if it's not used for commercial purposes. Send your email address to bluelightningtv@gmail.com
