Maybe you are not Tibetan or not an avid Tibetan music listener but Sherten is the most popular and established in Tibetan music scene. People give out khata not based on sympathy but on popularity. More popular singers get more khata.

I am literally impressed, not only by the wonderful ancient tibetan singing and beautiful young singers but I am also very impressed by the fact that this is one of the few videos where there isn't one single negative or bad comment in the comment section like in nearly every other sort of videos you see, there always has to be someone, (nearly always and without exception) who will write something negative or try to argue with someone, and try to find something bad even if it is the lightest thing... probably because they're bored, but that's the way some people are.
So thank you most graciously ones more for uploading this wonderfully sang tibetan song! Tibetan culture and music is nearly as ancient as my own (and I am from Greece) nearly over 5000 years old. and sadly some people whose culture might not be as beautiful and as ancient as their's they try to steal other people's culture. I can only say to that: People (China) stick to your own culture which I old and great enough, keep your fingers from other people's cultures and traditions!

I support gender equality but it’s a bit irreverent in this video. People are offering more khata to Sherten because he is the most famous out the bunch and has been in the industry the longest. The other male singer also didn’t get that many khata. People offer khata based on popularity and seniority not based on a person’s sex
as far as khatak is concerned Sherten is the best known Tibetan singer with the biggest fan base. so can't help.

Beautiful group song. All of them were assumed to be a great singer with a great voice especially the singer Lumotso and Lhakyi singing in a very high pitch voice. Why people offering khatak only to Sherten and left alone female singer? Shame on those people.

Pema Gyalpo I don’t agree with Kadhak system, although other singers are relatively new compare to Sherten but when standing together on same stage, respect should be giving to all equally, I think they have to buy a khatak and will offer to their favorite that’s how singers are being paid based on number of khatak.....😨 for me here all four are equally awesome, every voice compliment each other!

It’s tradition to offer khatak. The singer understand that and don’t view it as you do.

Khatak is a tradition way of showing appreciation. If you are thinking they get paid based of that then that’s not true. Sherten is getting more khatak because he is the most famous and senior among the singers in the video.

Also, not my bias, Sherten is the most popular and people call “Lu-Gyal” or Music King and he has been singing the longest. I have been listening to Tibetan music for long time and know who is new and who is older and who is more popular among masses.
Maybe there were more Sherten fans present there. Because Lhakyi and Lumo Tso are themselves very popular and respected. A few scarf on the more senior and famous singer doesn’t mean they are less appreciated.
