Now some challenges for anyone daring enough to try: 1. Build a rudimentary drum kit using the scale separation feature for the different channels. That gets into noise and filters a bit more in addition to the other setup stuff. 2. Get close to making an actual piano (not "synth piano") sound with how it can generate harmonic sounds. Also try to see if you can emulate the strings per-note of a real piano with the voice channels. Didn't say those would be easy, but I suspect ZynAddSufFX is capable of both. Extra challenge would be to make a video explaining either process and still have it make sense and not put anyone to sleep.
@@benshipleymusic I think I managed to kind of get close to a piano sound, but explaining it is another thing: drive.google.com/file/d/1lQHyMunCfsxN9s4CDe4YANgTCb7VUx6Y/view?usp=sharing Not sure how to save it properly as a ZASFx preset (I think that involves the "kit"?), so it's an .xpf for the LMMS preset.
I'm glad you found it useful! I'm not quite sure what you mean by a short pause - are you talking about something like a pre-drop silence or more of a "split" kind of deal?
@@gtonizuka9990 in that case you don't need to "add" silence, you can just take out the last 4 or so beats of every sound in your buildup and boom you've got a predtop silence!
@@gtonizuka9990 You would do the same as if you were leaving a pre-drop silence, but you'd just need to automate volumes and stuff as well just in case you were in the middle of a note!
If I want to learn more about what all the sound knobs do, the workings behind Hz, filters, etc; from the bottom up, where would I study it? I'll even consider paid sources, but wish to exhaust whatever free material is available online. If you can share your findings, it would be very helpful. Thanks
Honestly in my opinion the best way to learn those things is to play with them. Once you know what a filter, LFO and envelope do, you're ready to play around with it!
You don't lol you just gotta remember where it is, usually most of the knobs start at 64 though so if you get it close to there you're essentially reset!
I haven't used it in a while but I think you need to select the LMMS window, hit Ctrl + S, pause the playback and then close the window to make sure everything stays as it should!
I subscribed I was hoping we can chat one on one if you have the free time. My questions are pertaining to making dubstep sounds and would love if you could give me some pointers.

i think that's how you save a preset? I think the ones I've shared on the channel are .xpf
Thanks, all the windows were scary, but your explaining made it less scary
lmao thanks, it's hard to do everything in one video so I hope the little overview helped :)

man why can't they just make few of the windows a tab in a single window, could save thousands miles of mouse dragging to hit close and reopening

How you play the music during the window's popup.. Any keyboard shortcut?
