My idol Dave Valentin. Great improvisation skills. I enjoy the way he starts off simple then builds up his solos to its climax. He takes his time and utilizes the whole range of the flute with great diagrahm support.
Definitivamente en la música parte del conocimiento hay que tener aptitudes y queda demostrado con estos dos grandes estrellas de la música cano estremara con su solfeo rítmico melódico y el mágico de la flauta valentin .
lo que yo escucho es un ritmo de cha cha cha improvisado y un solo monstruo de dave , a newyorican del Bronx. Ritmo sabroson que es parte de la identidad cultural de Cuba. ya despues lo explotaron y le pusieron salsa.
Super technique, great flute sound, good breathing control, intonation pure and right there, outstanding Latino style flute, superb.....but....at 1:18 the weirdness begins with the voice sounds. Why?, I must ask. Is it because he runs out of playing ideas. A flute teacher of mine once told me, "you can tell a bad jazz musician when he begins to trill". Maybe ole Dave will grow out of it . . . .
Pete Diaz I totally agree. I really hate when great jazz players all of a sudden use their voice in the middle or any time in their playing. Incredibly annoying.
