Fun fact about that Farmers Market. CBS TV studios are right across the road and (dunno if they still do) when they needed an audience to shoot the pilot of a new show they'd wander across to the farmers market and hand out free tix. People I know on holiday there got offered tix but didnt take it up as they were time poor. They found out later they'd missed seeing the pilot episode of... Friends!!!!
This is a great video! I think you portrayed this part of California so well and in such a classy, fresh way that better shows the area than the touristy ones. I really enjoyed this. Thanks!
So glad you decided to give LA another try! If you have the right itinerary, LA is cool! It’s so funny that you did this vlog because my husband and I were thinking of going next year to visit my family! For us such a different vibe from our home in NYC. ❤ You are better than me in buying the Hailey Bieber smoothie, cause the $$ is just a hard NOPE for me!😂
Thank you, me too! It's so important to try again I think. A bad itinerary can give you the wrong impression of a place (hello, Dubai, is that you? haha) OMG that smoothie. I cannot believe the price. I'm relieved it was actually delicious hahaha
I LOVE LA! I lived there when I was younger. You really just have to do your research and find reels/tiktoks of the best of LA and create your own itinerary or explore/walk on foot to find what you enjoy! You have to try the aunty ann's pretzels, omfg my fav, please eat in n out burger haha and IDK why, but the sweet tea they have at mc donalds is sooo damn good. Also the food at cheese cake factory restaurants they have is SOOO GOOD!!! But honestly America is the most progressive country - the things you see, the people you meet, the things you can do is unmatched. You really just have to LOOK and stay open-minded. It is just cool to see everything you see in movies in real life!
For awhile, I actually had thoughts of living in LA. There’s literally so much stuff to do there, and people are really friendly. We’ve been there a number of times and done a combination of touristy things and stuff like what you did. We actually hire a car every time and drive around by ourselves before heading to Anaheim and Disneyland. And the Grove is one of our favourite malls in LA. California is quite expensive tho. Enjoy your travels.
Don’t forget to go watch the Dodgers play as part of your trip. Huntington beach is such a cool beach culture as well. Universal is the best theme park. Love your content 👌🏻👍🥇
Great ep Phoebe! I hated LA when we went a couple of years ago. Santa Monica & Anaheim we’re too bad but Hollywood especially the walk of fame are the most overrated places I’ve ever been!!! Can’t wait for the theme park eps ❤
Welcome back to the States! I felt the same when I first visited LA in my early 20s, I hated it so much. But now I've been there several times in my older years and always had a great time.
Cool video! I get what you mean by cheesy. Last time I ended up on one of those movie star home busses that took you around. Double points for a Supermarket Snoop!!!!
Hiya! It’s been 11 years since my first and up until now last trip to the USA. The Santa Monica Pier reminds me of my visit to New Jersey, to be more specific Jersey Shore. I love the beach areas of the USA. However, the big cities have too much homeless people that approach tourists and go tell them stories they’re not interested in and beg for money. That on itself, together with the worst food possible (I discovered my IBS in New York), made me not return to the USA yet. I’m not turning the USA down, but other destinations are just higher on my list. Thanks for sharing LA and see you in Hollywood 🤙
Hi Phoebe! I really enjoyed your vlog.So many places to go to and explore. But 20 us dollars for a smoothie?! Ok,hope it tasted wonderful.Always enjoy to see your happy smiling beautiful face! I don't think L.A. is my cup of tea,but you enjoyed it! So thanks Phoebe for sharing your experiences with us all!And congrats with 148K!
I was pleasantly surprised to find out u landed in the states. I want to go to the states, but hubby doesn't. Cant wait for the upcoming eps. Stay safe
Hope this message finds you well. Harriet and I have been times. I have a brother who owns home in Anaheim not to far away from Disney Theme park . Hop on Hop off bus is a great idea if you don’t have car. Phoebe , when we see that sparkle in your eyes we know your having a great time. Luv Ya ❤ Harriet, Jim and Yuki
I’ve been planning my itinerary, and initially, I felt guilty about skipping the typical tourist attractions like the TCL theater. But hearing it from you has really eased my mind! 😭😭 Since I’ll be traveling alone, I don’t feel confident about navigating that area based on what I’ve seen online. Thank you for your tips! It has helped so much (I better start editing my itinerary lol!) One question though, I’m thinking about staying in Santa Monica. Is that a safe area for someone traveling alone, or should I consider other options? Thanks heaps! ❤
Pleasantly surprised you made it to LA. I'd be interested in your thoughts on Korean cuisine, in Koreatown, considering you were in Seoul recently. Enjoy your stay.
Glad you had a better time this time around. That bed looks much more comfy than concrete 😂 I can’t believe you had to miss out on the Ferris wheel because you were on your own. That’s discrimination 😮. Hope your jet lag passes fast. It’s brutal arriving in the USA. lol. Can’t wait for the rest of the series.
Hey Phoebe - welcome back to Cali. Let me know if you are planning to come down to San Diego. I would love to meet you and show off all the good Taco spots in SD 😊 I love your travel vlogs.
Welcome to the USA! Well, at least to LA. 😜 I've only been there twice in my life-once as a kid (kinda liked it) and once in 2001 (disliked the traffic and the airport, but really liked Disneyland and Anaheim). Glad you gave it another shot and, apparently, managed to see some good things during the two "not-so-cheesy" days. * Good tease about your prior visit--makes us look forward to your story. * Jet lag--oddly, when we went to your continent, we didn't get much jet lag. Of course, we prepared for it, so I guess that's how we avoided it. But coming home--oh, my word! It took us 3-4 days until we felt reasonable and it wasn't until a full week had passed that we felt "normal." Flying east always seems to be the hardest. * Again, really like how you show dining. You set up the camera like we're there with you and it's really great when you can show the menu, too (we may have stopped and read a few that you've shown!). I expect tacos in LA and SoCal have to be good! Too much competition. Excellent description of what made it good. * I like the b-roll showing you walking along the main shopping area, mixed with your narration. * I'm sure Erin's not the only one who wants to see the new dress! Guess we'll have to wait! * You sure hit some of the classic attractions at the Santa Monica Pier. * WTH?!?! No single riders?!?! Wow. (Guess it's because of the need to keep it balanced? Or some lawyer's rule, no doubt 🤣) * What a beautiful walk to Venice Beach. Again, great use of editing b-rolls into your narration (Kudos to Mr. E, I'm guessing? 😉) * Your last visit sounded as bad as you teased. Ugh. * I'm working on learning German (we want to visit the Christmas Markets in 2025). May have to try out Rosetta Stone. Glad you're able to get in some sponsorships! * Yeah, we call them Skate Parks. And the rivers looked beautiful. * We've talked with you before about loving to go to local supermarkets. It's such a fun way to get to learn about where you visit. We still talk to each other about visiting Wooly's and IGA's. They're the same, but quite different, from USA supermarkets. * Going from a Japanese hotel room to that one in LA; it must feel like you could fit 2 Japanese rooms in that one! 🤣 * As always, the links to where you stay and what to do in the area are so helpful! (Except the Dodgers game info-he said sarcastically-but I'm from San Francisco and a SF Giants fan...we're fierce rivals.😜). Are you working with Zoku Travel as well? Cool! * Uber cost what?!?!? Wowzas! Yeah, using the bus is such a $marter move. * Just like supermarkets, go find local farmer's markets. * Was that your first Tesla Truck sighting? 🤣 * The look on your face while stirring the bowl was quite hilarious 😂 * One of the bummers to visiting "touristy" areas is paying the "touristy" prices for foods, etc., and then you have to do the conversion to AUS dollars, which meant it was $30; oof! * Who picks the music, you or Mr. E? * That's how I think I'd visit the Walk of Fame and Theater: from a bus that quickly moves on! * YAY!!! Can't wait for the videos of your adventures to the theme parks. Really looking forward to your opinion of the original Disney park. I assume that you've already been to them (and we really hope you liked them), but you do realize that, after visiting Disneyland, you only have 3 more to go! Hong Kong, Shanghai, and, of course, our Magic Kingdom. Also, you'll have been to the Universals except China and Orlando. Again, if ever you find your way to Florida, we'd be happy to make some recommendations on where to stay (and, more importantly, where *not* to stay). We really hope you have a great time while visiting the US and hope the earthquake the other day wasn't bad for you. Looking forward to this series. All the best and cya again soon! Rob&Erin PS: don't forget to read Rob's Review from last week 😊. Soooooo close to 150K Subscribers! Grats!
hahahaha Rob's Review always gives me a good laugh! :) The things you notice are unbelievable! The name Mr E is amazing hahahaha I really want to do ALL the universals and disneylands! I should've done the HK one while I was there. Dangit! I'll get there :) Got a few fun episodes in the pipeline for you! Have a fun weekend P x
So excited for your trip in the states. I would have moved to LA from New Jersey if an opportunity to move to Australia didn't come up. I always visit there when I get back to the states. I hope you get to Six Flags Magic Mountain. That place has the best collection of rollercoasters:-) I actually saw Paris Hilton at the Grove about 15 years ago. Ah the good old days:-)
great video of LA i went to LA in 1998 and the only time ive been we actually had a school trip for a club i was in but was actually in Anaheim but flew into LAX my first time flying commercial i had pocked load of change haha of course this was Pre 911 ... it was a great trip
If you want to go to some nice beaches, I recommend Laguana and Newport Beach. To me it has a lot more character than LA County beaches. Hollywood is okay to visit if you've never been there before just for its history, but to me there are better places to visit. Next time you come to California, you should think about taking the Amtrak Coast Starlight Train up the California coastline. You'll see how scenic the rest of California is.
Ooooh! This will be interesting for me. I have relatives in LA... they've been asking me to visit for the better part of two decades now but I've been dealing with other priorities in life. Will be nice to have more than just Doan's bakery starred on Google Maps before I eventually visit that part of the world 😆
You should consider moving to LA since you appear more happier doing USA vlogs in general. I hope you consider Catalina Island, Laguna Beach, San Diego, Monterey, Hearst Castle, and hidden gems 💎 of Southern California. 😊. I think doing best coffeeshops in LA would be really cool for you to do. Have you tried Blue Aussie cafe? I forgot what's it's called
Maybe you did nt realize it but Santa Monica is not LA. It is an independent city. Venice is part of LA but not Santa Monica. Marina Del Rey is part of Los Angeles County and not part of the city of Los Angeles. It is confusing for many who visit Los Angeles.

I think you've got the right idea hiring a car! It was so tough to get around without one!
@@travelforphoebe I find driving in LA easier than driving in Sydney 🤷🏻
That looks like a really chilled place, especially Venice. Not really how I perceived LA. Ziggys looks just about perfect! So cool! Thanks again. 😊

Hello Pheobe from Matt and Jenny in Perth, yeah the bus tour looks like the best way to see stuff. It must be good to just eat out all the time !😊

Yes Santa Monica is relatively safe, if you want to be close to the beach I think it’s the best option. You can also consider West Hollywood
