The reason there is no gasket is because these came sealed from factory with Silicone Gasket Maker RTV….the gasket is not even available at the Mazda parts, although you can get one from Oreillys…..
Do you know anything extensively about these transmisson? Grandfathers changed out the A/T tube. And re filled with new fluid. Ended up having a shift solenoid code come up with slippage. Changed solenoid. Light went off. But now has no gears. Or struggles to grab them.
I changed fluid and filter on my 2006 mazda 3s 2.3 l auto with castrol multi vehicle not import and now I have slippage bottle said M-V compatible was shifting better befor what could I be ?
You MUST use Mazda's Type FZ fluid. Initially they stated M-V but that was mistaken as Mercon-V, which it is not. I would not use anything but the specifically designed fluid for SKYACTIV engine transmissions. Here is a manual for Mazda 2, but it details specs that you should pay attention to as the engines do not change a whole lot. owners-manual.mazda.com/gen/en/mazda2/mazda2_8fr3ee16j/contents/10020109.html
Use the recommend fluid, I believe it's Mercon since this is basically a Ford. But off the top of my head I don't know. But you don't need any fancy expensive fluid IMO
great video mate
An 8 mm works for the drain bolt as well
Appreciated for your clear video
Thanks bro very much needed this

Check the level of the fluid, if the level is not correct then you could have the issues which you are describing
Appreciate the help fam 👍🏽
Happy to help, thanks for the feedback!
How much should the pan bolts be torqued? Ft./lbs.?
Honestly I don't know off the top of my head, let me see if I can find out
Torque to 8lb ft
What about the torque converter? Was the fluid dirty after refill?
The only way to remove the fluid from the torque converter is to separate the trans and engine. The fluid is still nice and clean today

I would check the level, if its a little high or a little low it may not shift right

New fluid can make old transmissions slip
@@dominicgurgone1898 turns out it was TCM and not the NEW fluid. All good and with new fluid happy camper. No more problems
@@dominicgurgone1898 i now have 340k miles all good 👍
don't you need gasket maker to seal the gasket?
I know this comment is 8 months old but the carboard gasket he used creates the seal as a replacement
What’s that cleaning spray your using?
Brake Clean! It can be had at any parts store and even wal mart. It's great for cleaning because it doesn't leave water behind when it dries
What is the torque specs for bolts
I don't know off the top of my head but I would think no more than 20-30 ftlb
You just want to snug the gasket up, you don't want to see it bulging out of the side of the pan
@@youautoknowjoe copy that
89 inch lbs in a criss-cross pattern or 7-8 ft lbs

Any tips on synthetic fluid or go with OEM fluid

Mercon V, get it from Ford or Mazda. If its newer than 2008 you may need Mercon LV
sorry to say but there is a gasket on it
what? yes the transmission pan has a gasket, if I said otherwise in the video i apologize
