Jethro Rules of Law. I studied with The Great One back in the Early 80's. Tiny room in the back of The Guitar Works.....two chairs...two Mandolins....small table with a tape recorder....and a sixpack. And the whole Universe.....

Thanks David and Aaron. As I heard another teacher say, " The wind blows, but you can wind your watch." Context is so important.

Aaron is the Joe Pass of the mandolin! Thanks for the great interview David!

Again, great content! One important thing to know about some of those 3 (string) note chords is they are "rootless," and that's a reason why they can represent "other chords." For example the (G6) and (G7) shape don't have any G's. But when you slide up to the D7, the D root comes back.

Interesting, because "Nodding your head vaguely" is sometimes my reaction to your videos too.

David i love your genuine look at this master playing. It does not in any way decrease your abilities and talent but instead opens your heart and brain to hoe infinite the road can be...the journey is the point. Bravo David

David - On top of everything else, here’s a shout out to the way you enhance your videos (despite the fixed camera angles) by switching frames and screens to subtly support the focus of the topic and action. Thanks!

Obvious comment of the day - I'm going to need to watch this video many times to absorb all the amazing knowledge in there. I'm proud to say I've got Aaron's book and am working through it slowly. I'll be even more proud if I can say I can play 0.01% as well as Aaron does it. Thanks for another great conversation, David

I love esoteric nerdy mandolin stuff! This is frickin' awesome! I bought Aaron's book a while back but never really dove into it. Inspiration strikes! 😆

What's the chord? I can't tell you until I hear the bass player...

Aaron’s “little” finger has its own zip code.

True! Having had some lessons with Aaron, I can say that through his cajoling there were some stretches and chord shapes I thought I’d never attain that I can reach now. Yet there are others that are for Aaron’s reach alone!

Where’s the bow tie??? I’m so disappointed.
