I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!

My memories are very alike this kid's, but only I was little older when father gave me rod with massive carp on. I devoted myself this year again to my all time favourite childhood hobby, and joined fishing again with my father(he fishes for more than 40 years). This year we pulled couple of huge zanders, californian trouts, asps and huge catfish(10+kg). I think fishing healed "my soul" in some way I can't explain and made me return to my true values as a person, and I got nobody to thank more than my father. To all the dads who like fishing in the world: don't quit taking your son to fishing, even though he makes a mistake or even loses huge fish. Be patient, learn him, and you will always have a truly friendly and learning relationship. This will help you both. And thank you for being awesome.
So in my family im the youngest son at 29 all me brothers and one sis are older and all have kids and ive been blessed with being the uncle to pass down our fathers vast fishing knowledge to them and to be able to take all my nephews out fishing to teach em and see the joy in their faces when they catch that first fish, truly one of lifes greatest moments. I lost it when he started pumping the fish oi that was great a total natural at it, you can just tell that boy has fishing in his spirit and running thru his veins brah awesome vid.

My son caught his first fish when he was 2. A 14 inch Brook Trout. We couldn't catch and release. We were at a trout hatchery. The price was $4.99 per pound. I spent almost $50 for fish that day! He had a blast!!

Andrew Mavin I tried to get my boy into fishing when he was about 7 and he did catch a few small mackerel and was into it but he couldn't stand it when the fishing was slow. His mother bought him an xbox and he was gone, that instant satisfaction won him over. I'll try again when he's a a bit older and develops a sense of patience. I still fish whenever possible cause I'm an old fart and grew up pre Internet and computer
