As a beginner with Gimp, and a senior citizen, I find your tutorials VERY helpful. You explain what you are going to do vs just providing file and tab selections. Easy to follow along.
These are great tutorials. GIMP 2.10.18 made changes to the Drop Shadow effect so they do not quite work the same. However, there is still a Drop Shadow (Legacy) in the Filters -> Light and Shadow menu. It is the same effect used here. Took me a while to find out about it, but it is worth it. Thank you for these great lessons.
Thank you - one of the best GIMP tutorials I have come across. Correction, the best! You don't whizz through, the screen and voice are clear, you give helpful little hints (fg=foreground) and you don't stutter or mumble. I have recommended it to other people and posted a link on my blog.
Amazing! I am brand new to GIMP and with you as my tutor I am excited to learn. Your tutorial was excellent...clear, concise & articulate! You for sure will be my Tutor! Thank you for sharing your talents with those of us who are hungry to learn the craft.
Done. Played & created my new wood texture & now will play making fabrics. This is so much fun. Hope to see more tutorials. Do you have one using Gimp on creating Blended Ice? Hope it makes sense...lol. Thanks.
I actually made an image as your video played. Turned out very similar except my own text at a 100px font size due to having more characters than the word GIMP. Looks great, thanks for your video tutorials.
If you’re using GIMP version 2.8 then go to the “Windows” menu and select “Single-Window Mode.” The single window mode is not available in earlier versions of GIMP.
A great tutorial Gimp is certainly turning out to be a clear choice for me especially on my limited budget. Do you have more tutorials coming soon? When you do please let me know?
Thanks for the great tutorial.. Can you explain when using the gradient effect (I think) you selected the middle and pulled down to the bottom right corner. What is the significance of that, and what does pulling it less or more do for the effect? Best Regards!
Hey, man! Thanks a lot for this video instruction. Everything was going well until that moment, when we have to fill the inner part of the words with gray, cause in the 2.10 version it doesn't work the way you show n this video. But I manaed find the other way how to do it)) The only thing that I couldn't figure out is how to add another drop shadow, not to the outside off the words, but inside them. Thats why It would be nice if you record another video on this topic, but by using the GIMP 2.10 version.
Thank you so much for the awesome tutorials, what a great explanation and sound!!! i need some help, please!!!How can i add to that completed text image an image(logo, little pic ...) and adjust to it?
Click on the “Windows” menu, at the top of the GIMP window, and you should see “Recently Closed Docs” and "Dockable Dialogs." One of these should help.
HI. Your vids are very helpful and have subscribed. A question plz. How can I use this with an existing image w/o the light effects, background etc? I want to put some awesome text on a photo I plan to use for a book cover I'm about to publish. Thanks and Cheers
Your tutorials are really informative, thank you. I have one question though. I'm using GIMP 2.8 but I can't pull up the same tool boxes as you. Primarily the tool box that has the background color selection. Can you direct me to were it might be located at I would really appreciate it.
Merci beaucoup Pour vos vidéos , elles sont merveilleuses . en plus avec la nouvelle version ,Même avec la difficulté de comprendre votre langue ; j'y arrive .Merci Cordialement. :)
Nice! What is the "Bumb Map" filter doing. It looks like in made the lines in the pattern and the shadow on the smaller selection protrude but made the shadow on the larger selection recess?
Hi There! Thank you so much for this wonderful video it was very very infirmative!! i just wanna ask if Gimp software is a free software? and is it compatible with windows 7 ? your feed back will be higly apreciated!! thanks again
Very cool effect, and so simple to do. Thanks tutor4u! For FG/BG Colour Selection to appear as it does in the video, tho: Go to Edit/Preferences/Toolbox and check box for "Show foreground & background color". Usually is in by default, afaik, and is my preference.
I always wanted to make a sign sorta like it was scratched in...this seems to be a good start, but how would I get the scratches in there? Something to look around :)
