  • In this video Rich explains how to edit and replace guitar notes using Melodyne. First he explains how to use Note Assignment Mode to optimize Melodyne’s performance and make sure the information is interpreted correctly. Next he explains potential notes vs actual notes, and how to activate potential notes. He then shows how to use the ‘Venetian Blinds’ in Melodyne to ignore overtones and unnecessary noise. Rich then illustrates how to use copy and paste functions to replace notes. He also demonstrates how Melodyne will automatically adjust the length of notes to be correct when pasting. He goes on to show how to delete, or turn off unwanted notes and noise.
    Rich is using Melodyne studio here, but all his edits could be made using Melodyne editor as well. And the ‘Melodic’ examples could even be performed in Melodyne assistant.

    How in Melodyne do you solo play individual instrument parts in a multi-instrument, single audio file where the various instruments have been separated? Anyone?

    3:50 min ¡THANKS! You've got a new subscriptor. I'm going from a poor piano recording to Midi. And, of course, Melodyne detects octavations and harmonics where there is (maybe) just one note played. That's why my midi file sounds "harmonically-richer" and less louder through the VSTi. So, i should take that "octaves/harmonic energy" back to the notes that were actually played on the keyboard (which, besides, will "restore" to those notes their original dynamic/velocity). Excuse my poor english, hope i've explained myself.

    • @celemony
      @celemony  Год назад

      Any detection inaccuracies can be corrected in Note Assignment mode. Once your Melodyne blobs look like the audio you hear, the MIDI that you export will be accurate, too.

  • @Mdjagg
    @Mdjagg 2 года назад

    How well does detection work when the guitar signal is coming from an amp with heavy distortion, like a Mesa Triple Rec, mic'd? Seems like a clean DI would be easier for the software, so curious its limitations.

    How do you copy a note and place it where there are no notes? I can't seem to copy and place a note unless there are already notes to replace.

    • @celemony
      @celemony  6 месяцев назад

      You simply click where you want the new notes to appear and paste. Make sure you unselect all blobs before you paste. If this doesn’t help, feel free to contact our support team here: www.celemony.com/support

    Is it possible to pitch correct a guitar solo (monophonic) in Melodyne 5 Essentials or do I need a more advanced version?

    • @celemony
      @celemony  Год назад

      Hello Hans. Yes, this is possible. You won’t have the more advanced tools like the Pitch Modulation or Pitch Drift tools, but the basic pitch of a note can be edited in Melodyne essential as well. Why don’t you download our free 30-days trial and give it a go? 🙂 See here: www.celemony.com/en/trial

    I have a vocal part where the grey area on the blob is splitting the actual note. So there is a weird gap in the vocal. Does anyone know how to extend the grey area behind the blob?

    Why are the actual notes located in the wrong lane of the Piano Roll? For instance, the A-flats are all in the "G" lane. Other than this confusing part, GREAT video as always.

    • @celemony
      @celemony  3 года назад

      In this video, the pitch background is set to ‘Key’ to reflect the song key. But you can easily set it back to the ‘Keyboard’ display of a standard piano roll, if you prefer. This is all done in the Pitch Grid drop-down menu, i.e. the clef icon in the upper left corner of the editing area.

    Thank you for your tutorial, so well done !
    But there is a mystery for me because at 8'30'' you show how to shrink or to stretch notes to a different place with commands shift C et shift V.
    And at the end at 11' you show with the same commands something opposite because the notes you copy keep the same space without stretching.
    So what is the difference between the two processes ?
    Thank you if you have the time to answer me (or someone else ?)

    • @celemony
      @celemony  Год назад

      They both stretch to the target notes. However, in the second example, the target passage is roughly the same length, so you might not notice the time stretch just as much.

      If you want to sound robotic, start by reducing (or removing) any vibrato with the Pitch Modulation tool. Furthermore, try experimenting with the Formant tool. Hope this helps.

    so no ...there is no free version of melodyne to simply start with...sad but anyway i am gonna by it as soon as i can. i'd rather spent a litle amount on melodyne than on that robotune ant ares trash !! i realy regret to ever have bought that ! so far i found out any copy of melodyne one purchases is linked to an email which means if say i get a better system with more power i install my daw of choice , set my emails , and through the email i registered with , i can reinstall melodyne right ? now with robotune its different : you need to remove it or deactivate it from the old system to be able to use it in the new one instead of simply linking it to an email like celemoly does with melodyne so far i could find out and did not understand something wrong. Rich thanl you alot and i am happy to become the next new customer. as i said i have melodyne on my system and its the trial one or in trial mode and testet it and realy one can sing than correct the pitch and position and notes and everything and than do another record singing along the first one and there we have it : the second time one can be perfectly in tune since the voice one sings along with its the own voice ! Guys try that for yourself and you'all see what i mean. Melodyne is truely worth the 95 euro for the esencial one and roundabout 300 and somewhat euro for the editor one !
    first it felt like making a spaceship from scratch but once you get in use - and it took me even it is the first time some 20 minutes to get to the basic things and understand how to use em - you will just like me hold your forehead and scream at yourself why the F did you got robotune instead of this. cant wait to get it and guys like you Rich or Mr. Crescenti, are that kind of a teacher who simply have what it takes to teach someone. I enjoy listening to you and watching these videos. Thanx alot !
