This is something I'd have to hear in person I think. When it comes to audio, both microphones and speakers, I tend to stick to known quantities. With both those, especially microphones, I already know of many many options that sound great and cover a wide range of price points. Still though given the price this is something I might try out on my home office computer for lower volume music or podcast listening, and I've had good experiences with Redragon keyboards and mice.
Oh for sure, hearing recorded audio over different speakers is a tricky thing to present to someone. Audio is also highly subjective...our ears are like fingerprints, all a little different. They aren't reference monitor speakers by any means, but definitely not a bad sound overall for what they are.
for some odd reason when i got mine about a week after they just popped, I turned up the volume a bit and it made a loud clicking noise and no longer work
RMA it! Out of curiosity was it connected to an amp or sound card? It sounds like it got more than it could handle somewhere in there. Sucky though. See if they will replace it (they should)
I bought these speakers in order to review them on my channel, hope to receive them by December. I think I agree with most things you say, but I've never seen this kind of product within this price range with removable cables, or even with audio through USB. I guess they did the basic there, and bet on design and (promised) sound quality.
@@EightSixMatt Finally received and tested them. Bad sound quality, decent build for the price. Would not recommend unless they were VERY cheap, black friday cheap.
I have Yamaha hs8 studio monitors and oneodio Studio pro headphones...I want to get these not for gaming... but to also test mixes after it's done on pro monitors and headphones(if you know what I mean)

I got these recently but when I plug them in the computer doesn't seem to know they exist. they light up fine but I get no sound. their manual is a joke with no instructions. please help. I feel I missing something very simple but just don't know.
It's been a minute, but the 3.5mm I believe needs to be plugged in. Most PC's will use the color green for that jack. USB for power and analog sound over 3.5mm jack. try that and see if that works.
Double check and see if the mini-jack plug is fully plugged and seated into the computer you're using. If this is being plugged into a phone or tablet you might need to remove the case since some of these cases opening is too think and the hole is too small to allow the the plug to seat properly.
Would these work as a low-cost, budgeted center speaker with power? I am not necessarily obsessed with the tonal matching between speakers, as I am using old speakers from around my house to put together a surround setup. I was curious about whether this would make a good center. I have a cheap, random, almost free speaker that I would otherwise use, but its sound quality is so bad it's not quantifiable lmao.
My audio is coming out extremely quiet, anyone know a way to fix this or did I just get faulty ones? (audio is too quiet to hear unless it is next to your ear)

Wow im surprised for that price it's not bad. I'm using jbl pulse 3 for my loud speaker and planning to buy a cheap ass speaker to replace since it's bot made for it.
I have a Logitech Z-5500 speaker set. They're a little older, but I can knock stuff off the walls of the lady's apartment downstairs. I have headphones on about 80% of the waking hours. I also can grow mushrooms in my ears, but that's okay. 'Cause I'm a nice guy.

"USB only for power / no sound over USB" is a bad thing?? People often have good sound cards in their gaming PCs - why would they want to hear sound from a cheap USB DAC built into the speakers and not from their own superior sound card????
In my experience a lot of people actually don't go the soundcard route these days. Digital audio is objectively good, and these speakers aren't high end analog balanced reference monitors...so I'm not really sure what this comment is about? Were you robbed by cheaper USB speakers in the past?
@@EightSixMatt I have to agree with @TheMrkoos most built-in DACs in most low end/budget speakers are not going to be 96/24 nor 192/24 like in many modern motherboards, even without an external sound card or one can add an USB audio adapter that most likely will equal or exceed these low end/budget speaker's DACs. Since low end/budget speakers are made at a targeted cost, they'll most likely skimp on the DAC as one of the options to generate a better profit margin for design and manufacturing company. The other good reason to separate the mini jack connector and USB for power is that the standard power output for the ports of a laptop or desktop is 500 - 800ma (0.5 - 0.8A) at 5V (which means 0.5A * 5V = 2.5 watts and 0.8A * 5V = 4 watts of power range of 2.5-4.0 wattage) while if you use USB phone/tablet charger of 1.0-2.4A your speakers will have access to at least double to quadruple amount of power. If this was an unified USB port providing both audio DAC and speaker driver power transit then the power used for the DAC would further starve the speaker drivers of this power. This power difference will keep the sound from being too thin when cranked and let bass slam with better authority (I use the Bugha sub/sat and with a good USB charging brick on a secondary laptop, it sounds better than the Logitech Z200 which used to be my easy suggestion for budget speakers). If you still have and use those speakers and haven't used an external charging brick I'll suggest to give it a shot, you'll notice a difference. I'll agree with one thing you mentioned, I hate captive power and audio cords, they should all be designed to be removable and replaceable. Great review btw as well as a lot of good info.
