God, I wish these structures still existed. Even if I never visited Hildesheim, just knowing they’re still around would suffice. The last place, the Kaiserhaus…stunning. I love the statues built into the framework. It’s so unfortunate what happened.
It is necessary to recover the beauty in the cities, modernism brought great improvements in comfort in the interiors or efficiency in construction techniques, let's join that with the traditional forms and respect for the culture of the place and it will be wonderful.
Es ist allerdings immer zu fragen, in welche (moderne) Umgebung solche Rekonstruktionen gestellt werden. Die Frankfurter "Altstadt" ist warnendes Beispiel wie grotesk und fremd Rekonstruktionen wirken, wenn gleich nebenan Anpassungsarchitektur steht - Beispiel "Goldene Waage", wo einen nur das nackte Grauen packt !
