Khabib would have definitely been a world champion with or without AKA. Ofcourse there were multiple champions like DC and Luke but the real reason he joined was to train smartly. He always trained hard throughout his life therefore he suffered multiple injuries that led to fight cancellations. Yes he learned little bit of striking/boxing by coach Xavier but he was knocking people out before also through his unorthodox boxing style. Remember when he fought against Dustin he was taking full command from his father while his coach just stood there. Even against mcgregor he was consulting Islam rather than his coach. I mean no disrespect to coach Xavier as he definitely had an important role to play in shaping habib's career but he still would have been a dominant force even if he was in some other team.

      @wergar_the_warwolf6834 3 года назад +1

@@mtio2807 Islam's clearly skilled but I don't think he can break into the top 5 tbh. He's no bum/tomato can and I could easily be wrong but he doesn't have Khabib's incredible physical attributes and he is less technical than Khabib is.
Btw, I'm doubting Islam's chin not cos of his KO loss, cos of the way he pressures. Look at Khabib, or better yet, Tony. They weren't technical with their footwork like Olivera, they pressured in straight lines and used their incredible chins and crazy cardio to get it done.
The Tony comparison works even better for Islam because now that Tony's past his prime, he backs up after a few hard shots that he would tank in his prime. Islam clearly doesn't have Khabib's iron chin and so he has to worry about taking flush shots. Islam also looks worse against unranked fighters as Khabib did. He's still clearly winning, but he doesn't look like an unstoppable mauler like KHabib did.

@@wergar_the_warwolf6834 Nah Man, I think you are way off with your assumptions about Islam Makhachev. Coach Javier & Khabib have vouched for the guy.
Khabib predicting him as the future LW Champ is in itself incredibly special as he does not speak of such stuff lightly. Islam has put in the work and is definitely capable of beating anyone in LW division.
Khabib hasn't even promoted his cousins Umar or Usman (Both Excellent Undefeated Fighter btw) as such, cause they still have to put in the work.
If he has no injuries or any other issues, Islam Makhachev as LW Champ in 2022.

@@inf423 But, the situation was the same. It was Conor starting with Khabibs family, which we know means everything to him. Then, his team really initiated that situation by continuing it during the fight. Conor took a swing at Khabibs cousin or teammate that was on the fence too, that is why he came over and jumped on Conor. And even though Khabib has disregarded him, Conor still tries to play like he never lost that for real. He crosses too many lines and he does it bc Dana will never discipline him for it.

@@inf423 i agree...Im just saying that you cant talk about ppls family and expect them to shake hands after. Dustin and Khabib tuned him out and took it to him in the cage. Conor has some self esteem issues, he has literally everything he said he wanted and he's still doing stuff like he did with Khabib and Dustin, thats a pure sign of depression and lack of self esteem. You can talk down to each other before a fight, but involving family should never happen its too personal at that point. They have a video on here of Conor saying he was going to kill Dustin and Jolie in their sleep, thats why Joe Rogan turned and eye balled him in the cage when he went to interview Dustin. Was it wise for Joe to interview him coach. Knowing he was shouting profanities while down. Plus with the pain and adrenaline rush.. was it a good idea ?. And it was not doctor's stoppage it was a clear tko. Was a big Conor fan he's helped so many fighters after him to settle in life.. but the change in character is v obvious and sad.. hope he returns to his roots and surrounds himself with true friends. But Dustin was in control entire fight . But they all are fighting for second place..no one comes close to challenging khabib. #khabibtime. I think his mother was more worried for the other fighters.

Conor needs to change his gyms up. I like John Kavanaugh, but SBG Ireland isn't comparable to ATT or Sanford. It's significant and it's adding MMA to Ireland and growing the sport, but there is less talent and less world-class coaching.
He shouldn't go to AKA either. Not just cos of the Khabib beef(Conor's made a lot of enemies as well, lol), but Javier Mendez has generally taught high-level grapplers and developed their striking games. Cain, Khabib, and DC are all freak cardio wrestlers and Conor is decidedly not that.
Honestly, Sanford seems like a good choice. Usman's left so he doesn't have any huge beef, Chandler and him seem cool and Burns and Luque as well. Hooft is a brilliant strategist with experience working with an explosive striker with good handspeed(Michael Johnson) and Conor is far more consistent than Johnson.
Tiger Muay Thai doesn't seem like a bad idea either. Tristar as well. Firas Zahabi has expressed respect for Mcgregor in the past and He could really do well with Conor. He has a great understanding of MMA and could cultivate Mcgregor's talent. Also, how funny would it be if Conor had a rematch with Khabib, somehow, and Firas has to coach against his favorite fighter
Honestly, while I do respect Conor's loyalty to the people who made him, and he clearly had the talent to get to the top, from a purely fighting standpoint, he should change it up. Maybe do the GSP approach where you get trainers from all over the world; Imagine Conor with Freddie Roach and Firas Zahabi in his corner.

Let's say it does that (you're right he should have switched, actually long ago), I think he still loses. He's too behind, I don't think he can catch the top competition anymore

@@BoogieDownProduction Not really, he became a 2 division champion on talent alone. He beat a top LW eddie, the FW GOAT aldo, a horrible stylistic matchup in Nate and went on a crazy streak with his current gym. He just needs to evolve and he's no spring chicken but he's not over the hill, either

@@wergar_the_warwolf6834 Yes he did that like 10 years ago. People do almost everything right and still wont make it to #1. I think he's done even if he makes changes.

@@BoogieDownProduction I don’t think he’ll be the champ even with those adjustments but he’s not “done” as far as competing at an elite level is concerned
Take Gaethje. As of rn he beats Conor but if Conor adopts a game plan that involves avoiding pocket exhanges and returning leg kicks(actually setting them up) he honestly would shit on Gaethje for 3 rounds and could coast to a desciosn
