This song breaks my heart in a good way, reminds me of my first love as a teenager. He was my first everything. Now we are both married to different people.... seems like just yesterday we were young and free and wild. It’s been close to 20 years since those days.

He brought to me the path I am on now and it’s great… we recently separated and now I find myself on a different path that I never thought I’d be on, especially at age 36. I recently met someone else and we are taking it slow but I am having fun and just living my life.
You shouldn't ever leave your first love there is a reason why you will never forget always do whatever you can to work it out it seen what it's like from my grandparents to have this we were meant to have this that's why the memory and feelings are so strong

i'd dedicate this Song to my beloved wife and soul mate who still alive but still dealing with a set of irreversible health issues, being together has been a bumpy road, yet it has also been a blessing to stand by her side, dreading the fear that some day one of us will have to part away is the worst thing that can ever happen to a human being but there's always hope that we'd meet each other again some other time and place.
Try getting a "Dear John" e-mail while you're in a combat zone and you will remain in said combat zone for another 10 months. She didn't have the decency to write a letter or wait till we were talking on the phone or over the puters. No, she sent a friggin e-mail and I went out on a snatch and grab night mission. Women like her confirm the saying...."If she didn't have that thing between her legs she'd have a bounty on her" As soon as I got back both of the boys (we have two kids together) said they wanted to live with me and not her. Yea, she's a real piece of shit. If I drank booze then I could at least be able to blame it on that but I don't drink.

I was 13 when this song came out in 1999. The 90s was a strange, yet great, time to be raised as a kid. Still old enough that people didn't freak out over kids riding bikes without helmets, and still before cellphones took off.
I am 14 now.... My dad tells me about the 90s and i just love the music from the 90s.....Nirvana, Metallica, MLTR is awesome... I mean 90s were better then the 2010s

I remember telling one of my really close coworker about this song, and how much I fell in love with it, when i first heard it. She told me, this song alway's brought her memories of her singing this song to her mom when she was sick with Cancer. Fast forward, 8 years later, I sang this song to my dear friend at her funeral, who I miss daily. You will alway's be missed.

I was in a relationship for over 10 yrs married for some of that and I didn't realize what I had till it was gone. There's no going back now. Be careful people don't take people for granted. When they are gone and move on it could crush your soul. You'll think I'll get past it but it doesn't go away. You'll wake up from nightmares of loosing the person or worse dreams where you are together and happy only to wake up to a sad reality which crushes your soul even more.
I heard this in ikea, laid down on one of the beds, and just listened to the song until it was over because I just thought it was so beautiful.

Gary Allan covered this song right after his wife took her own life out of the blue, up stairs from where he was. It was such a sad event and knowing it, listening to the emotion in Gary's voice makes this song soo much better. This is a good version tho, Just prefer the "country" take on it better.

Actually I heard on a radio interview with them the members of Vertical Horizon said they really liked Gary Allen's cover and took it as a compliment that he chose their song.

I heard a loud party down stairs at 2 am and I went to see what was up...and there he was. He had ran into her at a club. We hadn't seen him since I had left over a year before that. He didn't want to talk to me at first but he caved in and by the next day we were seeing each other again and have been together now for 14 years. I thank her and may she know I love her and that she RIP. She died 2 years ago. She introduced us in the first place too. Her name was Catherine. :*(

Hey man, it's cool. I hear and feel your pain. My wife sent me an e-mail telling me she was leaving and filing for divorce. I was in the army (Infantry) stationed in Iraq. I read the e-mail then went on on a night mission to capture some bad guys. I prayed that I'd get KIA'd that night, then the next day/night and the next. I didn't though, no, I made it through it all while my brothers all around me were killed. I STILL wish I could trade places with them.
