Love your channel just found it. I myself am doing donor egg IVF. I did mines in Barbados. Currently waiting in my two week wait. Fingers crossed! You are so right there are so few African-American women discussing this issue. And even fewer African-American donors. I must say if anyone is interested Barbados fertility center has plenty African-Caribbean donors. Wishing you the best. Yes this is definitely a journey.! God

how to do you explain this donor egg to your family?
Pretty much the same way I've explained things in my videos. Because I've been so transparent about my journey online, my family has been aware of what I've been going through. Talking about it more helps with conversations with family members.

Shes so nervous thinking maybe the mom can come take baby away, or that the child will not even closely resemble her????
Arent you all curious why the Doctors are recommending all this so quick. I showed her an article where it says most of the time they overlook you alls eggs to be so quick to trash them when in reality they are good
Thank you for sharing! So the donor has no rights whatsoever to the child, so they can’t come take the baby away. I know that’s a real fear and I completely get it. They won’t even know who you are and legally cannot seek out the child. It’s up to the child when they get 18 to decide if they want to look for their donor parent. And as far as resemblance, I’ve seen adopted children grow to look like their adoptive parents. I’ve even seen biological children look nothing like their biological parents, so shared DNA doesn’t necessarily guarantee the child will look like the parents either. So, genetics can be a tricky thing but what I think matters in the end is the love between the parents and the child, no matter how they were conceived. As far as doctors recommending donor eggs quickly, I haven’t seen that or experienced it myself unless there are factors at play like Dimimished Ovarian Reserve, early menopause, Premature Ovarian Failure, or repeat IVF cycles that resulted in low quality eggs. I decided on my own to go this route after one round of using my own eggs, my doctor was willing to try again but I decided against it. So I said all that to say I have seen other steps being taken, testing being done, etc. before the donor egg recommendation and this is based on other donor egg moms I’ve spoken with in the community. I’m so glad you’re invested in your friends journey! She will definitely need the support!

You seem so young in this video and I am shocked that you have premature Ovarian failure..That’s terrible,that means that you will go on menopause earlier than others..that’s very unfair.
It’s definitely unfair, but I must note that I have Diminished Ovarian Reserve which is a different diagnosis from Premature Ovarian Failure. My cycles are still regular and I am still ovulating. My ovaries are still functioning so that’s the difference. But I will experience menopause a few years earlier than others my age. And unfortunately these diagnoses know no age which is why it’s so unfair as you stated.
