Thank you for creating these. I have watched 3 other Freecad tutors and you are the first one that I can follow. I am far from stupid, having built many mobile wireless communication products (mainly focusing on electronics and radio signals) and participated in many discussions about industrial design. But Freecad is the first time I have tried to learn a CAD program and I am astonished at how uninformative the other tutors are.

Thanks for concise, clear instruction. I'm moving from an archaic 2-D drawing program to FreeCad. My area of interest is mechanical clocks. A segment of animating a set of gears would be very useful. An organized list of Freecad skills would make your series far easier to use. Sometimes it seems like the scheme throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks.

It's amazing how easy it is to create an interesting shape using the additive loft tool. BTW Your lessons warp space-time. I don't even know when the 18 minutes passed! ;-)

    Thank you for the video.
One thing I have been stuck on, its inserting an operation into a prior step.
I am able to return to the prior sketches and change the dimensions etc to change the object but find it quite difficult to insert an operation.
For example, the object has a few sketches with each having a pad after the sketch, like Sketch 1->Pad 1, Sketch 2-> Pad 2, Sketch 3-> Pad3. After that is done, I start to fillet and chamfer the edges. In the process, I find that it is need to do a chamfer before Pad 2. How do I do that? Will be great if you can do a video on it, unless its really simple.

Out of curiosity, do you ever use any other kinds of CAD programs? I'm quite partial to CorelCAD at this point, but that's mostly because it's one of the very few "professional" CAD programs that works on macOS.

I have used Fusion 360 and still use Tinkercad for very simple things. I also often use an svg editing program called boxysvg for complex 2d drawings. I use affinity photo and designer for 2d art and Canva for my RUclips thumbnails. Hope this is not too much info.

Not on the subject but I just bought my very first printer, an Ender 3
V2 and although I'm getting the hang of it, I have a problem with the Z
    axis, when I print a 20X20X20 cube, the Z is only 19mm so I printed a
test with 5 layers of 2mm each, offset slightly to facilitate measuring
and every layer is less than 2mm, any ideas how to fix this

Nice video, just what I needed. However when I create the sketches and go to the model tab I do not see individual components only sketch under body. Also when creating the sketchs it only ask what plane on the original sketch. Using version .18. I have tried 10 times.

You should consider using the multi-line tool, it's way easier than your approach.
    Very good video though

what about design spark? its free cad software!! and what about onshape which has a free version and is a online cad!!! both are less hassle than freecad!

    • @MakeWithTech
      @MakeWithTech  3 года назад

I prefer to talk about software that runs on both windows and macOS when possible. I may be wrong but my impression is design spark is windows only. Onshape much like Fusion 360 are both excellent programs but their licenses have changed overtime so I switched to Freecad.
