Exceptional Vocals, lyrics, Violin solo, Piano, Guitar and Flute solos, bad ass Bass while the drummer goes crazy = TOO COOL... "Classic Southern Rock" at it's best.
I love this band they have some of the finest southern rock from this time period. I'm glad you enjoyed this studio version. Here's another live version, if interested. "The Marshall Tucker Band - Blue Ridge Mountain Sky Live"
been listening to these guys since the 1970's when my older brother played take the highway and can't you see, religiously. this ol' cowboy has grounded me thru decades of valley's, comfortably neutralizing my souls and spirit, as needed:-)
"This Ol' Cowboy" Well I'm sittin' down in San Anton' Waiting on an eight o'clock train My woman left me here last night Things ain't been quite the same I gotta get back to Dallas And tie up a few loose ends I'm gonna work a week make a hundred dollars Aw and hit the road again So I don't want you to think That you're the first one To leave me out here on my own Cause this ain't gonna be the first time This ol' cowboy spent the night alone Now honey I've been a fool but a bigger fool I can't remember when I've been Just to open up my heart And let you walk right in Now there's one thing in this life Ain't hard for me to do That's as soon as I kiss the lips of another woman I'm gonna forget all about you So I don't want you to think That you're the first one To leave me out here on my own No this ain't gonna be the first time This ol' cowboy spent the night alone If you wrote all the woman's names down I know And let me pick one out I don't think there'd be one in the whole bunch Aw I'd give a hoot about So I don't want you to think That you're the first one To leave this ol' boy out here on his own Cause this ain't gonna be the first time This ol' cowboy spent the night alone No this ain't gonna be the first time This ol' cowboy spent the night alone

Just for your own entertainment/education you should hear the entire album... It is all damn good stuff from four incredibly talented musicians.... I̤r̤o̤n̤ ̤B̤ṳt̤t̤e̤r̤f̤l̤y̤-̤I̤n̤ ̤a̤ ̤Gadda da Vida 1968 Full Album HQ
The flute and violin made it for me on this one. I'm sort of lukewarm in general to this style of music but I loved this track so much that I bought this double album just because I really loved this song.
One of the Great Live albums, WHERE WE ALL BELONG, songs like 24 HOURS AT A TIME with Charlie Daniels, IN MY OWN WAY, WHERE A COUNTRY BOY BELONGS, oh and, EVERYDAY I HAVE THE BLUES.
In 1978, when I was 16, me and a bro of mine took a bus from Springfield, Mass. to Boston, to see them play at the old Boston Garden, they are amazing Live, what I still remember is that Jerry Eubank's flute was perfect, he also played the Sax.
Marshall Tucker was the most underrated Southern Rock band- their orchestration, instrumentation, song writing, and vocals were bar none the best!
Spartanburg SC.

This song was recorded in ONE TAKE LIVE and Doug Gray did his vocals after the song was recorded. That's Talent.

Country rock, boogie and jazz. This one is gold🤘❤️
my favorite MT song. there is a little bit of cowboy in all of us my friend. lol. just a fun song.
One of the coolest and smoothest tunes of a somber subject.
The music does have a Zydeco vibe. Some really music no matter what you call it!
They are from Spartanburg, SC, they have some other Great Albums, TOGETHER FOREVER, CAROLINA DREAMS.

"This Ol' Cowboy"
Well I'm sittin' down in San Anton'
Waiting on an eight o'clock train
My woman left me here last night
Things ain't been quite the same
I gotta get back to Dallas
And tie up a few loose ends
I'm gonna work a week make a hundred dollars
Aw and hit the road again
So I don't want you to think
That you're the first one
To leave me out here on my own
Cause this ain't gonna be the first time
This ol' cowboy spent the night alone
Now honey I've been a fool but a bigger fool
I can't remember when I've been
Just to open up my heart
And let you walk right in
Now there's one thing in this life
Ain't hard for me to do
That's as soon as I kiss the lips of another woman
I'm gonna forget all about you
So I don't want you to think
That you're the first one
To leave me out here on my own
No this ain't gonna be the first time
This ol' cowboy spent the night alone
If you wrote all the woman's names down I know
And let me pick one out
I don't think there'd be one in the whole bunch
Aw I'd give a hoot about
So I don't want you to think
That you're the first one
To leave this ol' boy out here on his own
Cause this ain't gonna be the first time
This ol' cowboy spent the night alone
No this ain't gonna be the first time
This ol' cowboy spent the night alone
😂glad to meet another fan! I'm a fellow Cona sour👌 of southern rock. 🤘
Some of the best music ever created came from what we called Southern Rock, I'd list the names, But I know you know who they are.@@mamaflush9945

Glad you enjoy this band I remember listening to them in the 70's I too like their vibe! Have a Great Day!
MTB was like a jazz band masquerading as a Southern rock band.

The parts when they all play the same notes/melody is exceptionally tasteful.
