I just installed this cooler on an 7800x3d. I did not use the 4mm offset position because it looked like the cooler would hang off the edge of the CPU. I’m a bit puzzled why this was the case when the instructions clearly said to use the offset position. Any idea why?
I wish the rear pc case fan could be better aligned with the CPU cooler. It seems the NH-U12A performs the best here. Close to the 140 fan beast Corsair A115.

So on AM5 the hottest part of the cpu is below the centre of the heat spreader. They just give you the option if you want to get the optimal cooling ☺

I don't think that would change the results that much to be honest. Maybe a few point degrees, but it's still a great cooler.
