Hey Ira, thanks for your commentary! Interesting to watch from a different perspective. Not sure about me playing No Quarter in MT, I really wanted to save it but it felt like I could really slow down Shadow with an extra hit even though I was 90 % sure they had Shadows Gather with that weird move early on into Dagorlad. And I probably had to discard otherwise. 50:30: Ofcourse it felt to me like he was frantically cycling into Cruel Weather. But the situation was that SP is at 3 VP, Im with a very healthy FSP 2 rings left, friendly pool and SP drew almost half the deck. I probably have 3 more turns and have a good possibility to dunk in 2 even if I spend a ring here. At this point, bar rolling no movement and/or running into at least 1 red, the game is pretty much in the bag if I make it to Mordor. Why take the risk of Cruel Weather? This was just a super lucky game for me though. Rex00v always gets the worst luck against me. Turn 1, even though I rolled no movement, was actually better for me then for SP. I roll my movement vs his 0 eyes. Then after corruption wasnt an issue anymore he suddenly rolls 5 eyes to gift me a free turn. No luck with the randoms either. I certainly had one more turn to dunk, maybe even two. And even though I sympathize with him, I do hope my good streak holds out one more game!
A tough game for the SP. With the power of hindsight, I agree that Rage of the Dunlandings could have provided a quicker path to 10VP by hitting Rivendell or Lorien. The conquest of Gondor was very clean, but the hunts underperformed. I appreciate your analysis of the card plays in particular, Ira. I am not yet at the level where I can plan for cards I do not have, each draw is a mysterious opportunity!
Hey man. Liking the overview. Quick question. You mentioned multiple times hiding the fellowship with the Palantir. I thought it was a character die that you had to use to hide. Am I missing a rule here? - Wait figured it out. Striders special ability.
Why is it better to summon Gandalf-W to Grey Havens to activate in Ered Luin with Book of Mazarbul? Can't you accomplish the same by summoning to Woodland Realm? And I just imagine GH to be further from the (likely) action if you wanted to use Gandalf-W Nazgul negation effect.
Obviously the two players are masters at the game, but at 10:47 as the Free Peoples I probably wouldn't have been able to resist retreating to North Ithilien and then conquering Minas Morgul, even if it leaves Minas Tirith less defended.
In the battle for Minas T. The Free people player took a leader as a casualty. According to the rule ook only regulars or elite troops may taken as a casualty. Is this a special world championship rule?
There is a vibrant online community! Check out the first link in all of my videos - is a Discord server where everyone hangs out and plays. It's super easy to find a game basically any time of day, 24 hours. In the video description, there's also a link to the Java client, which is what most people use to play, and allows you to get game logs to review later. Have fun!
@@doppelganger2012 I'm sorry for the spoiler! I think it's nice for people to be able to discuss the game in the comments, but it's also nice to be able to avoid spoilers. I'll ask Jason to edit his comment to add a spoiler alert!
I agree that it felt disappointing. I'm really interested in playing this game, but I'm kind of put off by the fact that one side can get so totally hosed by the dice in a game that takes multiple hours to play. 😕
Please be warned that there may be some spoilers in the comments, so reader beware! :)

As a beginner I’m learning a lot of this videos thx! Looking forward for the next one
Welcome to the community, and thanks for the nice note!
Thanks for the video Ira. Happy to see another one.
Tough start for SP.
Agreed, and glad you enjoyed it!
Great commentary, Ira. I've been playing LoME lately, so I'm hoping you'll do commentary on some LoME matches now and then.
What’s LoMe

Thanks for the kind words, Matt!
What a game. Looking forward to next match.
Agreed!
I really have no idea what is going on but I love the war game aspect of this game

haha ‚each draw is a mysterious opportunity‘. After playing for 15 years now, I wish to have that feeling again 😉
How does FPP move Gondor toward war, without having activated them? 4:31

Exactly! :)
Great vid 👍
Thanks 👍

Yes, it's a good point. I think WR is more likely a target, so you might lose Gandalf more quickly, or have to use an extra die to move him again.

Yes, definitely an interesting idea!

Heroic death card allows a leader or companion to take a hit.
Okay thx for the clear answer
Shaun is exactly right. :)
How do you play war of the ring online. I love the game but have no one to play it with

Spoiler…….
To me this felt anticlimactic. Free got extremely lucky. Hoping for a closer match in game two.
Fair enough! Sometimes that's just the way things go...
Ugh spoiler alert

Action dice, combat dice, hunt tiles :(
Sorry for my slow reply! There is certainly randomness in the game! :)
