The original amber turn signal is too small to meet US regs. The brake light is obviously big enough, and can serve both purposes. The alternative is a complete redesign of the whole tail light. To be fair, they could have used both clear portions for an amber turn signal and relocated the reverse light down to either side of the license plate, for example. They didn’t because they don’t have to. So ofc they did save some money by doing it this way.
YOu can see at 2:32 of the vid a bit of a delay where the brake light lights up the turn signal before the module does it's correction. May just have to live with that.
Do they really save that much money on each car by taking away Amber bulbs. Turn signals should always be Amber. Great video.
