On the note of meeting famous musicians who are actually really cool people, Phil Lesh and his wife walked up to 14 year old me because I was wearing a hat I'd ironed a steal your face patch onto, and Phil just opens with "Hey, nice hat, is that official, I didn't realize we were making those" and I explained it was just an official patch on any ol hat. I should have shaken their hands, but I was just kind of awe struck, tongue tied, and 14, so his wife just says. "ya know, I used to date Phil Lesh" and they give each other a smile and then walk off laughing. Its a funny little anecdote, but honestly, they just vibed like really nice warm wholesome folks with like zero ego, and even though they had a laugh at my expense for being too tongue tied to say much, and part of me was like holy shit that was Phil Lesh, left feeling like I'd just ran into some old friends or something.

I hovered over a Fender Vintera II Nocaster offered on Reverb by Cream City Music. I asked for pictures of the actual guitar since it was a demo. They sent the pictures along with an offer: $734 including their full setup service and free shipping. I received the guitar. Looks like a brand new guitar with a great setup.

I have a Vintera II ‘60s. I have historically not been a huge fan of MIM guitars- they just fell flat with me. Workhorses for sure, but just missing this or that- subjective stuff really. The Vintera IIs seem to be a step up. Under the hood they’re still kinda ‘meh’, but the overall package resonates with me much more. I played a few and got mine for $839 with free shipping, stickers intact and zero scuffs. Dealers are openly dodging MAPS these days.

@@777james777 The customer service through Reverb was amazing. They helped me source a case for a Gretsch I bought that didn't include one. I could look through my old messages for his name, but he was so helpful! And they always checked back to make sure I was happy after each one arrived.

Gonna have to get a couple of 'em -- 'cause there's a whole bunch of EPIC scenery around these parts (Mammoth Lakes/ E. Sierra) just begging for a photo-opp to help "Pimp The Cause"! About Mitch Mitchell powered cab, i've found that perfect pair to any modeller is the Blackstar IDCORE 100. It's a "stereo katana" but i only use the stereo fxloop return for wet-dry or stereo.
2x10'' and pretty loud. 200 euros. Like a budget Roland JC100.
I use it with my HX Stomp and analog drives and it's fantastic for that.

Not a Axe FX or HX Stomp guy myself, but I am terribly gassing for the Kemper Profiler Player Pedal. But like you said, it needs an FRFR not a cab which is a pain but the sounds arejust magnificent. I think I will pull.the plug on that as it make the most sense for me. The Laney one does look amazing.

The prices are high everywhere BUT the used market, clearance market, and sales market are very alive. I have watched guitars on Reverb and waited 60+ days and when I clicked on the listings I was watching again, they'd give me a much better offer. Then, a new deluxe guitar I have wanted went on sale for such a crazy price that I pulled the trigger. In this market, I would only buy items for less than I could sell them for.

At the moment I’ve seen a lot of deals in the UK of new £3000-£6000 premium guitars with £500 off, but in general there is less sub £1500 stock available in general- even without discounts. I get the feeling retailers went all in on high end stuff that the majority of customers won’t ever consider.

I could be wrong, but if the Canadian distributor is who I think it is, they are probably making over 20% profits.
Long and McQuade, Canada's largest chain store owns distributorships (or their parent company does) and anyplace they have a store (almost everywhere) they sell them through their own store.
The only places where you will find a brand they distribute being sold in a other store, is when they don't have a store close by or if the authorized dealer was in place before they opened a store there

Travelling w/ guitars is quite different in Europe, the airlines are much more strict about carry-on luggage. It'd be very rare to be allowed to carry on a guitar of any size unless you reserve an extra seat for the guitar. And personally I would never gate-check a guitar in a gig bag.

I'm a guy who fixes/replaces his own toilet (and will for others!) Buys foreclosed homes. Used used cars then fixes them. And buys my guitars at pawn shops. Quality name brand stuff that young guys bought new for lots of money, found that an expensive guitar won't make them a rock star then their new wife said get rid of it or get rid of me so they dropped it off at the pawn shop for a few bucks to spend on real life. From the pawn shop I have a nice ESP LTD 1000 EC from Korea. A nice LP style with beautiful abalone binding totally bordering the body neck AND head stock. Heavy guitar with great sound came with a travel case for $400. Then I purchased a PRS S2 Vela semi for 950. I'm also NOT a rock or country star. Played in a CW band, was paid NOT to play a couple of gigs BC we were not musically trained and basically sucked about 40 years ago but after 40 years of playing in church and practicing still feel like I could make the charts by 80. Willie did! If you know guitars pawn shops are worth a visit. Also, my first electric was a 1960 Gibson SG that I got for 100 bucks then traded it off for a dumpy Spanish guitar. Duhh.

I'm looking for a 50s classic Tele style. So, if I don't care about its future resale value, why would I pay more when I can get a HB TE-52 NA with American ash (3-4 piece body and heavy, but whatever, I want ash), "caramelized" Canadian maple neck/fb, and traditional hardware for about $237 shipped to Cali and pay less than a Classic Vibe 50s or any Fender Tele? To get something more traditional in features from Fender/Squire, you gotta pay to play. Too many slightly varying models at too high of prices. The TE-52 is just way too good a platform to pass up in comparison, in my opinion.

ok, now this thing is beautiful, and plays very nice, i wanted that out of the way first,i just bought a jackson kelly with the shattered mirror finish, because i simply could not continue living if i didn't have one,,it was round about $1,100 , it used to be , even just a few years ago, that price point was a really nice guitar, and it's nice ,but not charvel nice , as far as playability goes, it's pretty, but the options and quality control used to go alot farther on an 11 hundred dollar guitar, now i have done zero set up on this thing at all, so i can't say as to it's potential godlieness, but out of the box it doesn't feel like a 11 hundred worth of guitar, i worked at hoshino on the level of not repair room but more advanced than a basic QC ,guy , so i can build you a guitar from scratch , but i didn't want to have to, that's why i got the kelly, so i will make this thing a god , but it's a neck through so i kinda got what i got as far as what i can do to make the action buttery, i usually won't order guitars online , because they are all very individual, and you can usually feel it if it's gonna be good with some tweeks, but there's no where to go anymore to check them out, so now i'm at the mercy of the blind internet sale, it sucks

You're gonna see a lot of gear sitting for long periods at those crazy prices. Slowly starting to see the "price drops". And the amount of gear listed for sale has drastically reduced because the flippers can no longer get what they are asking to even make their money back.

You have me talked into the McKnight copper guitar but i decided not to get a divorce instead. 6 electric guitars, I bass guitar, 1 acoustic and three amps are enough is what i have been told. P.S. and 20 plus pedals too. It is not the money it is the space.

Thank you feel as always and happy Independence Day I met my guitar hero in 19881.82 and I was Johnny Winter cuz when I was when I was up well let's see I can't really edit this because I'm using text-to-speech because I'm a blind guitarist LOL but when I was trying to say is I meant my guitar hero in 1981 I'm going to say which made me 22 my friends who was a few years older than me was Johnny Winters doctor so we got some really good seats I took my girlfriend at the time with me and we sat down and saw the show sitting next to us cuz we were sitting it was tables I forget the name of the place it's in lower Manhattan the palladium maybe could be wrong silver tables at the place they had the waitress and waiter service but sitting next to the table and our section sitting in the next table over in our section with chubby checker when we went backstage to a way to go see Johnny went to his room was just one really long and Steve stairway case up anyway chubby checker wasn't lying ahead of me to go up there and see him so I actually got to say hello in a couple of things talked to him a little bit but I got the impression he really wasn't too into it so I kind of stopped LOL no I can speed ahead to 1991 to 1993 I actually went to the same specialist as Mr winter I used to get free tickets to shows all his latest albums that you know on the CD and cassette several times a year we were in the waiting room at the same time and yes Johnny went to Hathaway or maybe he doesn't have to but he does LOL to be seen just like the regular people the album in 1972 that he released was still alive and well and on the cover he's holding his fiber and I was like oh you know I I have to get a firebird sometime and it took it took over 40 years I think 45 years before I actually pulled the trigger on one that was out of my reach when I was a kid so it was 1972 but yeah in 2017 I pulled the trigger from Sweetwater and I got a firebird they called it a firework see it's really it's just a fire with fire basically but it's a great guitar black guitar amazing at least I think so it's got a Steinberg attorneys this is the worst text to speech attempt was on the 10th I'm not sending it either way but LOL but this thing is screwing up left and rightthe firebird has against steinberger tuners it's got cryogenically treated Rottweiler which is really a thing and it actually really does increase the strength of the the hardness I should say of the metal by 444 400 percent if I'm not mistaken they use cryogenically treated metals and a lot of different industries and I think in the aerospace business also it's got titanium saddles it's got an extra thick rosewood fingerboard and that helps and you know you know that alone to find my tone LOL not just kidding but you know it is it it was a speck on it extra thick fretboard the firebird is an amazing guitar in general it's my favorite guitar although it's not the guitar play the most I was going to say cuz I do play it a lot and if I really think about it I might actually play that more than my other guitars I think probably the Steinberg as soon as my turn from my new off because it's not traditional you know there's nothing like banjo tuners LOL but they work really cool and there are you know when I got the guitar in 2017 and my eyesight wasn't as bad as it is today which is virtual useless LOLI could make out the 9 piece neck not in any real detail let's say but I can see the difference in the you know I can see the stripes I was able to make out some green to actually when I would hold it under a light or bring it out in the sun but that was it back in 2017 that's no longer an option for me I love my firebird and I put my things in it I put one really good one that I haven't yet for it to the guitar tech because there's no guitar text near me for like 30 mi I live in the capital of Suffolk county New York Long Island and there's not one guitar store there's a music and arts where should I use them for quite a while they have a guitar texting but you didn't talk to the fact that you talked to the guy at the store and then he would write it down and tell it so there was a third person there and I didn't like that plus they screwed me at one point after being a customer I'm all over the place see I'm sorry 😐my fourth is is really no guitar text anywhere near me so it's hard for me sometimes to get rides to a places cuz I don't drive anymore and so I never had the the the the the the thing it's more than a ding on the Firebirds body you can't see it from the front and I first you know I don't see that well when I touched it I freaked out and I feel like a picture holy s*** and I ended up just putting it in a case like I couldn't deal with it LOL about a week later I took it out and it wasn't as bad as I thought it to be that happens when you can't see lol but but I do want to have it fixed and you know made to look new again if possible it's got the vintage sunburst on it so you know it's translucent this has become a book phone number for us to read it so lol anyway the one other thing about meeting somebody that you know that this was a band that I don't know if you remember a band called The Go-Go's you have to go back again to the early eighties probably orand there was a really renowned club that are on on the Long Island in Nassau county that have been around for years that they got really really really really really really great you know venues and the Go-Go's were there and my friend was like I had a friend who would always end up somehow getting into the backstage the famous musician anyway he got us backstage and it was just insane and it was like that there was drugs the the drummer I can't remember her name pinch my ass no s*** that you can't make this kind of stuff up anyway that was an experience cuz I did like to go cuz I thought they were kind of cool and this is you know the gulf coast it is far cry from where that you know Johnny Winter and all the other stuff that I listen to but I just like them so that was pretty exciting for me I was going to add another story from the Ellen show who used to own the Allen soul was a co-owner of a club in Greenwich village called the bottom line on 4th Street I know him because he used to come to where I used to work all the time and that's that or not I'm not going to tell any stories of the people I met their famous people and stu and I can't end without saying cuz he's a musician he was a musician still it or is it still was so he died he played all over the place tiny Tim😢 tiny Tim yes I even got to talk to him for a short a short period engaging conversation but he seems like a nice guy this is really the end of my novelas I don't know if I'm going to print it to sell but it's here on the internet for eternity sometimes you just got to you know do what you feel and post it sincerely Bob the blind bedroom guitarist 1:51:27 f

Marshall is now using parts from Vietnam in their flagship amp models. There are reports of transformers coming from there. And because in EU there is no law like in USA that says that 'made in EU' products are required to be fully created in EU, they might as well have the whole chassis made in Vietnam, shipped to UK, put in a box that is made by few old workers in UK (from plywood imported from China of course), slap 'Made in England' on the back, and still get away with it. Or they go the Celestion route; they started moving production to China in early 90's, and then you had speakers that said '50' where you would find 'made in UK' text. Eventually it was decoded as meaning made in China. Maybe Marshall is going to hide it somehow. If you wanna buy a used Marshall, anywhere in the world, that's 'made in UK' somewhat honestly, this is the last chance. Once Vietnamese-made Plexis and JTMs appear, anyone who has a used one for sale will bump the price to more than new. I bought a JTM45 head 2 years ago for ca. 1000 eur, I guess I should feel lucky with timing, in worst case I'll be able to sell it for double and claim something like 'Dagnall transformers' or whatever.

We had to put our little Brutus down almost two weeks ago . He had cancer . That is one of the hardest things we ever had to do . We miss him terribly . We still have his little sister. They were eleven years old in May . They become your children. I’m sorry to hear about your dog . Our dogs are little Pomeranians . We miss him every day .

I love my Gibsons and I loved the Fender my Ex-wife bought me and I inevitably sold to pay for my divorce lawyer; but I will not buy any Fender product at the current prices.
I found other asian built brands, intended for the asian market that are comparable to their high end product at prices well before covid hit.
Gibson and Fender would have to drop prices by a lot for me to buy them.

It seems to me as a casual Reverb shopper, that everything is overpriced once you add the shipping costs in. Used gear sells for basically what the new versions cost when you add in shipping. How do they sell their used gear with prices nearly as new?

$1600 seems to be the offering for everything that fills a void. Want a Bassman without the weight and maintenance = $1600. Don’t want an amp at all? ToneMaster modeler = $1600. Want something more metal? Quad Cortex = $1600. Entry level Gibson Les Paul = $1600(roughly after tax).

Jaco is WAY more of a great to bass, than Clapton is to guitar. Clapton was the best mainstream white guy for a short period of time. That was his only claim to fame.
