    I'm terrible at golf. So I decided to make a robot putter to make myself better.

    Try it as a mini golf course, see how well you can get it to handle weird topology. Bonus points if you can get it (or more advanced ones) to do holes in one. Seems fun!

    This is awesome! I have no idea why you have less than 500k subscribers. Your projects and editing have "Stuff Made Here" vibes for sure. I'm looking forward to your channel taking off!

    Congrats on the new project! It looks really cool! I want it to do some more challenging putts but this is such a great start

    Now for v2 where you do a topographic map of the area and adjust it to shoot on non flat ground 😂.
    Awesome work mate this was ace.

    Ohh you now have to make a driver equivalent!! Play a round of golf on a course that let's you with a 'pro' (ie anyone who goes semi-regularly) that would be awesome!!

    Awesome project! It would be cool if you could use a 3D lidar to map the surface gradient and compensate for that as well, that's the trickiest part of real minigolf IMO. I bet the math for that would be an order of magnitude harder tho

    But what I would be interested in is if you put your automatic golf club very close to the target would you still hit it or would the ball shoot out

    This is so cool! What LIDAR module did you get? I have been watching engineering RUclips (and attempting to make projects) for a few years but hadn't realized that you can get a module that cheap! I did a quick search on eBay and couldn't find anything in the same price range.
    * edit i just rewatched the begining of the video and saw the ebay page🤦

    So cool! Really great job making all this but also documenting the process to create this video. When you threw away the burnt-out microcontroller I was wondering: what MCU was that, and on what board? It looks like an ESP32-S2 or S3, but I was wondering if you had any special requirement that had made you choose a specific board and/or with some specific connectors.

    • @SparksandCode
      @SparksandCode  9 дней назад

      I had to go dig it out of the box just now.... but it was a ESP32-WROOM-32
      No special requirements other than I knew I wanted more speed than an Arduino but didn't want to pay for a Teensy (I got 3 ESPs for the price of one Teensy). I also had it laying around from a previous project.

      @desmond-hawkins 9 дней назад

      @@SparksandCode Thanks for the reply! Yes, this board is cheap and Teensy boards can be much faster but are definitely expensive. It still seems like it would be more than enough for the amount of computation, at least I hope so. The WROOM chip also seems to be super common, Espressif must have made tons of them seeing how often I notice it mentioned in AliExpress listings. Just checked, a "default" board without extra SPI RAM or flash (so 520kB SRAM + 4MB SPI flash built-in) often goes for only $1 each even if you only get 10 of them. They're *so* cheap, it's hard to believe :-)

    Very cool. My first thought at the conclusion was, I wonder if you could adapt it to handle variable conditions on an actual putting green. Short of using a camera to assess conditions, could maybe add a dial to modulate the power of the hits and adjust based of it under/over shooting.

    • @SparksandCode
      @SparksandCode  9 дней назад

      I considered rotating the lidar to scan the green for that kind of thing.
      Maybe v2
