Kabanza The EP is a body of work that I embarked on piecing together after having afterthoughts about societal stereotypes in my community. The word "Kabanza" is a street slang used in Madi in reference to a street smart fellow commonly referred to as "muyayi" in the general Ugandan context. The misconception however is that a kabanza/ muyaye is a youthful young man who dresses like "niggas" whose fashion sense he mimics from characters in movies and Western music videos.
The paradox here is that a Kabanza can be you, me or anybody. That politician wearing a suit, a priest, a father just about anyone looking to survive. We are all Kabanzas at one point in our lives. God bless mankind🙏🏽
