Great video. It is a good reminder for me as I get a bit excited to capture an image of interesting wildlife and all of my attention goes to the animal.
Excellent video with some very useful advice. I think these techniques more than any gear make the difference between a good and a great photograph. Thank you, i'm looking forward to more vidoes.
Some fantastic tips there thank you ,but sometimes all this advice goes out of the window in the excitement of seeing the fabulous wildlife ,but I must learn to concentrate on the shots more when I arrive in Botswana in 12 weeks 😉
Crisp and nice summary of problems on the field. Thanks for the wonderful presentation. I think wildlife Photogrphy is interesting because of these issues. It makes me to visit again and again 😀
Thank you for your tips. They have proved to be really helpful in my photography. I am now keen on my background and composition. I do photography in Kenya. Great job guys 👏👏
Hi Danielle and everyone who reads the comment! I want to thank you so much for this so wonderful, helpful video which is so precise,so well organised, and really full of great advices. I have seen a lot of videos and I can't remember ,having seen a so complete video about really techniques of composition. Today, a lot of people have all great cameras, and on internet, they all loose their time, in comparing the specifications of their "toys" and they forget the most important about their fotos. How to do them, how to compose , what is my subject, my background 🤔🤔??.you have made it here in a very brilliant and intelligent way, which add also to your natural charm. Thanks a lot for this ❤ ❤(you already made a wonderful video about the settings of our dslrs for bifs)I still have your settings on my nikon d5!!
Hello Francois. Thanks very much for the kind feedback! I know - people get very suck on technical arguments in stead of just using what you have to get the best shot. So true! The basics still matter :-) Thanks again! Danielle
@@PangolinWildlife thanks for your so kind answer ❤❤! Of course the problems of how to compose a photo, are much more complicated than the specs of a camera. But if we want to improve our artistic level, it is of course what we all have to do. What do I want to show and how can i do this with my camera?. And if we want to put in practice all what you showed in your video in a so brilliant way, we have a lot of work 😀 🙂🙂.Thanks so much Danielle 🙏
Great Video! Thank you Danielle for these tips. The shown examples really help. I tend to forget about the background completely, because I'm so focused on the subject, but I'm working on it :), soon with your help again 😊 Thank you, Barbara from Switzerland 😀
Thanks so much for another great video. I’ve always used relatively higher f stops to ensure focus. This will get me experimenting with smaller stops to still get focus and cut depth of field.
Excellent video! However more times than not I want to include part of the background to show the environment that my subject calls home. This isn't always the case but more times than not it is. Again, an as always excellent video on a very confusing subject for alot of photographers with limited experience. I learned photography using film, so you had to be sure of your shot as there were no do overs after viewing the image.
Great video as always Danielle, What would be your advice on getting closer to animals in a way thats respectful for them and safe for you? (if you don't have a boat)
Thanks Danny. We always look at the animal's behaviour. We're very fortunate here in the sense that the animals are used to us but if they're not I would keep my distance and increase my zoom. Always read their behaviour, if they show nay signs of irritation or discomfort then rather keep your distance. Danielle
Amazing video. You covered all the points! However I did have one question. In certain scenarios when there is a bird in the bush. There is only one angle to shoot from, but there are too many distractions. How would you isolate subject and background?
Hi there. You can apply the few solutions that I mention (zoom in, lowest f-number, use portrait orientation). If still not working, then I just watch :-) Danielle
Good tips, but I cant help wondering why you made the video with a bright tiled background and the annoying picture over the couch that seemed to be a black slab aimed at your head. I found both distracting. But I appreciated the tips.
@@PangolinWildlife Cool! All the tutorials and videos and amazing photos that you and others present are wonderful! This was a minor issue but glad for the news.
Have you ever "lost" a shot to a random distraction in the background?
No but I have lost plenty due the subject not playing fair! Very interesting and useful video.
@@benwiles7433 Haven't we all ;-) Thanks Ben!
Danielle

I like getting rid of background distraction by going black and white or low key.
Also great suggestions, thanks!

Good point. well presented. We are in the process of building a small studio that we can use and have more control over that background!
@@PangolinWildlife Cool! All the tutorials and videos and amazing photos that you and others present are wonderful! This was a minor issue but glad for the news.
you can also use the brush or healing tool to get rid of any unwanted objects in the background. Of course that's cheating in wildlife photography 😂
Absolutely :-)
yip, Photoshop doesn't have an "unsuck" filter
Wow, I love your video and you’re so charming! Thanks!
