Skip to 2:35 for anything useful. The passenger side trim goes back in without any modifications, and both of the rear fascia supports were able to be reattached without modification. The worst thing is that Curt really needs to work on their QA as these hitches bend inwards during welding making the front bolts difficult. I ran a ratchet strap around the flange near the front bolt and tugged it off of my truck sitting along side (it was not bent during shipment as Curt does do a very nice job of boxing it up with foam support and my box was not damaged one bit - the problem is not during shipment!).
You can leave them off if you would like. Some people like to reinstall them for a more factory look from below. They will also help to keep the area much cleaner if you travel on gravel roads or off road. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/Curt/C13394.html
We do not. You can check out the installation instructions if it helps to see the steps you will have to take to install this hitch. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/Curt/C13394.html
Nice looking piece, unfortunately you didn’t show attachment of the passenger side bolts which is much more challenging. Also on mine, the forward most hole on the passenger side does not line up with the frame rail threads!
The hitch may be tweaked from shipping. This may be why the hole did not line up. You can straighten the hitch out by following the tips in the following article. www.etrailer.com/faq-my-trailer-hitch-doesnt-fit.aspx
Not sure where you live. I asked same question at Oakbrook, IL dealership. They can disconnect foot liftgate if you have one put on Platinum model. All others L, LE, XLE can do it with no issue. I have no need for Footwave feature, since liftgate has remote open button on remote and it has close button standard built into buttom of Trunk Liftgate when fully opened👍
@@jim2245 Mine is a Limited without the footwave. I don't care much for that either. I think they added that because other cars have it. If Toyota really want to be ahead in high tech, they should use voice activation like Siri, Google, and Alexes. Anyway, I just order the CURT one at eTrailer (only one available) with free shipping. I was hoping to see the installation video but I think it should be pretty close to this one.
We have the Curt C99FR that will be perfect for your 2020 Toyota Highlander. Check it out in the following link. www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/Curt/C99FR.html
You know, there’s a lot of stupid people out there that cranks down on the impact with a non-in fax socket and you know I should be wearing safety glasses, correct????
Sorry to tell you guys this, but this method of installing this hitch is a butcher job. First, cutting that heat shield off is a mistake. It was engineered to protect the plastic under bumper trim. Second, Toyota has a special plastic trim so the hitch actually mounts under the bumper correctly. The factory installed hitch looks correct, clean, and is covered by the warranty. This hitch job fellas, looks like crap, and I wouldn't trust it.

is there any major reason to install those panels, or is leaving them off okay ?

@@mytube30005 they have Alexa in XLE & Platinum I think, possibly other models. I'd prefer SUV for more overall space, sedans only have so much
You don’t use the impact socket come on man you’re teaching people how to do something with what tools you have I guess
