@@Hustler_statewhich boots do they offer the W&C leathers on? I'm trying to build my own with Cobalt DS and I feel like a fool looking for it on all the build your own options.
I got fit a little while back, noticed by the register there was a display showing that you used to be able to choose stitch color. It would be awesome if you guys brought that back.
And again, another video with great informational value without trying to push a sell. I have ordered boots with the 1964 leather. Second option would be the walnut leather. I like the color transition from pale to dark when applying wax/oil. Cheers
Would love to see a short video in the style focusing just on the W&C Veg tans. (Selfishly I just want to get a closer look at the color options to help me decide on a pair)
Amazing video!!! All of those leathers are beautiful but I’m a BLACK leather kinda person. I am excited about the burgundy color as well. Very helpful so thank you for that.
I've got a pair on order in your limited run Wheat Rapids, and boy am I excited. I cannot wait till yall make a Moc Toe, it would easily be the best Moc Toe ever constructed by mankind
I have a pair of Truman's in java waxed flesh and I absolutely love it. Those are my going out boots though. I think I'll get the brown waxed flesh when I get Nick's
I’ve got a pair of hotshots in chocolate and just order a pair of builder pros full rough out walnut with lineman patch and shank can’t wait for em to come in
Excellent video!!! The content Nick puts out is almost as good as their product, its getting better also. Keep up the phenominal work. I cant help but imagine your busniess/company is goiong to continue to grow faster & faster!
Great video! Great to see how each leather handles scratches and buffed up! Own 2 pairs of Nicks and can’t say enough about how comfortable they are after break in. When will the olive be available, and will it be available in the heavier work leathers?
I like the 1964 and the walnut work leather. Enjoying a pair of low-cut Travelers (Carl Murawski collaboration) in Peanut Bison. Builder Pros next if I need another pair.
@@keggerous I received the urban logger in waxed brown. I did a standard size because I did not know the custom size could be done remotely (my bad). Jury is still out on the Logger heel for me. If I was to do it again, I would get a slightly lighter brown, honey soles (I walk on a lot of concrete), and consider a lower heel.
Still haven’t seen a nicer colour than the brown horsehide CXL Roberts I have here, but the 1964 work leather would make a great pair of boots for kicking around in!!
The oil and grease makes most of the leathers darker. Would using saddle soap lighten up the leather again, since it pulls out the oils and stuff? Thank you.
This is something I have never understood. How can that tan leather be described as being packed full of oils and waxes? After you added grease (oils and waxes), it darkens so much. If it darkens by adding a small amount wax, how can the leather already have so much in it?
Love the video. Could you explain a bit of the difference between the 1964 leather, and CXL? They seem pretty similar, and I want to make sure I understand the nuances outside of different colours. .
Hey, whats the 'work', leather thickness like mm not oz, because the density varies so the 7 to 8 oz can be 1.8-2mm thickness or 2.8 ro 3 mm thickness. Thx in advance
I have a pair of full rough out black builder pros. I want a pair of traveler's, this just made it harder. I wonder what a NO8 chrome xl traveler's would look like with a black traction tread.
Why isn't the Predator orange an option in the Custom Boot builder? I want a set of builder Pro in predator orange but the website doesn't seem to offer that option... 🤷♂️
Couple of questions... What are you using for your lubricant ("grease" as the presenter calls it)? Why do I never hear tallow being recommended for a conditioner/oil? It seems like it would be a natural choice (since it comes from the same animal...).
Can you do a video on the chocolate work leather? Rough out and smooth. I ordered my custom boots in walnut but was just told that I’m going to be waiting even longer than the 20 weeks I’ve already waited due to supplier issues. I’ve thought about switching to the chocolate leather..
I’m getting older and lace ups are becoming difficult. I don’t really care for engineer, motorcycle or a western boot. Would yall custom make a Wellington boot?
Which leathers have the most sheen here? I want something to compliment my shiny color 8 shell cordovan sneakers with a casual boot just as smooth and shiny
I can just see what's going to happen in a couple days when someone from the cutting dept. grabs one of these rolls to start cutting and see's someone has been messing with it !! Shits going to hit the fan !!!......LOL!
I'm confused. On some you said smooth and some rough but then rough and smooth which is it. To my knowledge the rough out is the more fiber like side. And the smooth is more the casual side. You began showing roughout (fiber like ) then smooth and then said called smooth (fiber like) then roughout(smooth) through the middle of the video then switched back to roughout (fiber like) and then smooth ?
Thanks, was looking for a brown, so my next pair will be custom lace up heritage in brown CXL; the extra $50 is worth is to get exactly the look I want.
I'm so down for a pair of these boots, had the hooligan picked out but when I went checkout It's gonna cost $100USD to ship to Aus that's crazy. Hopefully you guys can find a better way to ship cause I'd still love to get a pair
I think I know what "pull up" means, but trying to verify it via google just takes me to pull on boots. It seems as if when the boot is stretched, the oils and waxes disperse to other areas of the leather that aren't being stretched. Is that right, and is there anything I'm missing?
This site has a really good article on Pull Up leather. stridewise.com/what-is-pull-up-leather/ “ Pull up is a finishing technique, not strictly speaking a type of leather - any kind of leather can be pull up. A popular finishing technique for top grain leather, the pull up finishing technique infuses hot oil and/or wax into the hide. The intricate finish allows for lines to form in the leather when pulled or stretched. This pulling creates the desirable “two tone effect.”
What's your favorite leather?
I thought you would also present the Chocolate colour. Has it been discontinued?
all of them
I was hoping for the brown waxed flesh to be shown.
@@Theredeemedchild2 but wasn't it?
Walnut work leather, especially after a fresh coat of oil
How about a video on all the W&C veg tanned leathers. That's what I was hoping this video had in it as well.
Is that what the English bridle tan is

I appreciate the side by side comparisons it’s kind of hard to decide which colour to choose but videos like this help immensely so thank you! 🥾
So glad it was helpful!

This video, I've waited for so long. I'm glad you did this video, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
BURGUNDY!!! Thank you! Very helpful video - thanks for the show & tell.
My current favorite is the veg tan, but I'm looking forward to receiving the 1964 brown...hopefully by the end of summer.
Very well made teaching video thanks helped me decide what leather to buy glad I did

Great video. I'm going to be in store in 4 weeks to fit and order. I'm leaning toward 2 tone work/casual with black lower and 1964 upper. Can't wait!

My favorite is veg tan leathers they absorb oils nicely. Waxed leathers start cracking pretty fast in my experience
Great video, I'd like to see one with the W&C leathers
Me too
What is W&C mean? Is it a company?
@Lance Cowburn yes. It stands for Wickett and Craig

my question too

How do the different surface finishes on the work leathers affect water resistance, drying time, time between oiling, and oil absorption?
You guys NEED to update this video or make a part 2. You have added many more leathers.
A lot of nice materials idk what my next pair of nicks will be lol so many choices
Any news on 1964 roughout?? I have my Builder pros ordered but I’m hoping for the roughout to come out before mine are started. Thanks Nicks!!!
Great video as always!, would also be interesting to see something similar for the veg tan leather options
Would I use a leather lotionon the tan leather so as to not darken it.
Or what would you recommend?
Is the walnut - work shown at 15:41 listed as walnut smooth heavy duty on the website?
Correct!
That brown waxed flesh is nice

why this predator orange leather is different than the other boots video review the predator orange are more Mustard yellow color?
Probably the lighting.

nobody knows... and i do not see the 8 cxl no more

I'm interested in the Overlanders in this leather. Is it as durable as the 1964? Mostly have hiking, backpacking, and just kicking around in them.
Why no scratch and polish test for the #8 and olive leathers? I'm sure people would like to see that.
Alright, how do we get predator orange to be maxsupport leather? Lol
A pair of packers in the olive? What says you?
Predator orange moc toe wedge it is
