Hi guys as Always i LIKE the Mohawks 😎👍🏼 Cicadas and Snakes no thank you lol The Hiking Trails and those Wood carvings looked super cool! Have a awesome Day! -Stone
I as usual enjoyed the video. The photography was beautiful . I have been keen and was glad to see a cicada as we have crickets in India and they get vocal at night specially during the monsoon. We have them in our garden and as Dave said it's a natural sound so it doesn't bother us besides we associate it with the monsoon which is important as we get most of our rains then Thanks, take care and have fun🤣😝😜
Very cool! We made it to New Mexico and we are getting summertime monsoons right now. Without this rain it would be way to hot here for us. I love watching the rain roll in and cool everything off, it's quite a welcome treat. 😎
Great video. We have been to Amish country in Ohio. Isn't that a cool place. And those carving Mr Weaver did. I could stand and look at for hours. Just amazing. Thanks for sharing, and safe travels.
Thank you! We are doing the last week of our job here in New Mexico and then heading to Colorado. I can't wait to see the Rockies! I am ready for some hammock time and a camp fire. 😀😀😀
Another video that I have to add to my RUclips must visit list. The candles and carvings were amazing. I remember the last cicadas, amazing and very loud. That first park is a must see for me. Always a thumbs up 👍
Eeek, here it is, the Shocking Hills video! I am so excited to see it through your eyes. It is such a magical place! And very cool for being free. We have had a lot of rain lately too. We needed it but I am ready for some sun! That shower looked amazing. Hot showers are just lovely. Those carvings....wow! What a fun store. You guys crack me up! Loved the arial drone view. So green. The cicada sound definitely comes through. Ha, that was one loud generator! How are the ticks in that area? I am guessing Dave did not swim? The cicadas can burrow up to 8 ft...crazy! Their wings are really pretty so interesting. Too bad about the underground river. That would have been fun. Snakes 😲 can't wait to see that sun set! 😊🍒🏖
I did not go swimming for once 😂😂😂 Between the deep mud and snakes everywhere, I thought I would skip this one. I love all that no electric cooking stuff! Pretty sure I was born 150 years too late.
I love Lehman's! I have only shopped their store online, but that's where I got most of my non-electric stuff that I was buying several years ago because I was doing the mini-homesteading thing. Great family-owned business. We do have a lot of cicadas in Indiana. They can be ear-piercing at times since there are a lot of them. Lol.
Very cool! If we ever build a tiny home I would love to fill it with non-electric cookware. Sometimes I feel like I should have been born 150 years ago. 😂
Lived in Ohio a good portion of my life. Love Hocking Hills and Amish Country. Both excellent adventures. Amish stores are perfect for Vanlife with all their non electric appliances etc.
Right on Maggie! That is just what Carrie is going for when editing these videos. We want you to feel like you are getting the experience of being there. 😎😀
Another fun and super informative video! I have seen photos from friends of Hawking Hills and I knew it was beautiful, but your brought it to life in a way photos didn't. Also, loved the close up of the cicada on your hand. I think it liked you! Thank you!!
Thank you for your time and productive day in Ohio. Loved the wood carving . Amazing! Thank you for all the information about the Amish store... loved it. My husband and I are thinking of taking a trip out there. Thank you for the info.. of the Cicadas. Interesting.
Amazing video! I would love to go to Leymans... I love what they have and I could have such a great time getting some of useful items that you can't find anywhere else. The wood carvings were absolutely incredible... That man has a God given gift. I really enjoyed this video and I can't wait to see the next one. I cannot get over how many amazing places absolutely beautiful amazing places that you've seen. Safe travels! 👍👍👍👍👍😁
I have never seen a cicada but my brother would always talk about them and how loud they get. Thanks for sharing your video and explaining their life cycle.
Oh those snakes!!!!!! Thank you for sharing the cicada's - that was really interesting. Bummer about the underground river - that would have been amazing - another time maybe! Love your adventures!
The park in Ohio was amazing. I live in Chicago and look forward to your trip to Southern Illinois. I often travel in WI and Michigan but have never explored Southern Illinois.
Great video, thank you. I have a lot of family in southern Ohio. I've actually met a couple of them. lol. The cool thing for myself is that most of the hiking places you visit , we will never see. My wife has very bad hips and knees and therefore can't walk very far. I have COPD pretty bad and walking any distance is difficult . Your videos and explanations allow us to experience what we otherwise couldn't. On your last Video in Pennsylvania, you made some sausage gravy that looked very good, so I tried it this morning for breakfast, totally delish !!! Thank you, be safe, happy travelin'.
Hi Daniel! We are honored to have you along on our advantures! One of our goals is to make you feel like you are in the location and get to experience the location. So that is great to hear! We are happy you like the gravy. Thank you for your kindness and for watching our videos. 👱♂️👩🐕🎾
Hey Carrie and Dave. Thanks for showing us those Cicadas so close up! I have heard them before, here in Canada, but NEVER seen them. They almost look like a house fly on steroids! 😂 👍
If you're in Indiana, go see Turkey Run State Park about an hour west of Indianapolis almost in Illinois. I was just there last week.... fabulous. Go on trails 3 and 6!!! Also bring your kayak because the river is shallow and clear.
Several years back, during the last big solar eclipse, we were on GA and the cicadas were soooo loud - until the exact moment when the moon blocked the sun - darkness and silence! It was an incredible experience. Miss you.
That must have been awesome! We miss you and hope you are doing well. Your shuttle bus looks brand new in the pictures we have seen. Can't wait to see you again! 👱♂️👩🐕🎾
I hoped we helped 😀 We are getting excited about Colorado, we can't wait to share with you. Hopefully, we will be there next week. I am ready for some hammock time. 😂
I really love your photography and so glad you made it to Hocking Hills! The other areas and trails are all somewhat different. I remember one that did remind me of Watkins Glen…don’t know the name of it just now. We leave tomorrow (6/26), heading out to MT, WY, and WI. It’s so hard to remember everything to take for 10 weeks… Safe travels! Kathy and Barry
Congratulations on being on the road! Don't worry about forgetting stuff, we found out most the things we thought we needed...we didn't end up even using 😀
Another great and informative video! I’m hoping for a video on how you travel with Roodle…like is he on flea and tick meds or heartworm meds, what you do if he needs veterinary care, etc. Thanks for sharing your travels. ❤️
Hi Sharon. Roodle is on flee, tick, and heartworm meds. We did a detailed video just on this kind of stuff. I will see if I can find it and send you the link. 😀
Hello dear friends💖🤗 You three are so dang adorable!!! Amazing photos and footage, you sure have an awesome eye for seeing the magnificent beauty of God's creation💖 You hike to places I am unable to go, providing this beautiful footage for me to see the splendor🤗💖 I love coming along on your adventures!!! I sure loves the stairs and tunnel, my kind of trail💖 Definately pinned Hawking Hill State Park to visit💖 Those of us without showers in our rigs sure appreciate a nice Truck Stop!!! OMG, those wood carvings are AMAZING!!! LEHMANS is my kinda store💖Sundance Lake is beautiful💖 WOW, listen to those Cicadas😮😮😮 Your Cicada closeups are amazing, such an awesome informative piece, well done Carrie!!! 😮😮😮😮😮SNAKES😮😮😮😮😮 OH HECK NO!!!! Great episode kiddos!! HAPPY TRAILS DARLINS😎💖🤠
I hope you get to explore Hawing Hills! It's a pretty easy hike and you feel like you are transported to a hidden magical canyon! Carrie feels the same way about snakes!! 🐍 Thank you for your wonderfully kind comment. We love your kindness! 👱♂️👩🐕🎾
Thank you for another interesting video! Maybe that is the solution, too get a super loud generator so other campers go away and you are left alone LOL. I know, bad joke, and some run their generators for hours on end... that idea of the subterranean river is intriguing!!!!!!
@@oneadVANtureatatime great easy to look at things! I was thinking of you earlier, made it to Colorado. Grand Junction. Thank you for the advice!!! So easy to find boondocking areas around here. And it is not as hot as the west coast. Poor people!
I just have to tell you how much I love your channel. You guys are awesome and you show things that other channels do not. Hocking hills is on my wish list. I live in Southwest Pennsylvania and we are going to have to check it out. Keep up the great videos and we will keep watching and supporting you in that way. I wish I could afford to be a patron but I am retired and disabled. I do still explore as much as possible even at my age 66. 2 weeks ago we went to Watkins Glen State Park in New York and the other waterfall parks to and they were beautiful in the Finger lakes region. It was our first vacation in 2 yrs. I saw the video you did about it. I love the one you did on the Clarion River here in Pennsylvania. You guys need to check out Ricketts Glen State Park in eastern pa. There are 21 waterfalls you can hike to.
Lol great video guys! Y’all had us rolling. We weren’t bog fans of Ohio either, but y’all stuck it out longer than we did. Loved the shower scene 😂 We actually had Sundance lake completely to ourselves when we were there. Lmao... why would anyone like Cicadas?!?! Ughhh they sound like a Texas heat wave😂 you did teach me stuff though. I have been told to watch for snakes falling from the trees my entire life, and have never gotten to witness it happening! That’s crazy!
There's all kinds neat places in Ohio. Hope the three of you come back. I'm going to try to do whatever I can to learn how to do the internet over the winter. Would love to meet up with you guys you could have parked here in my driveway. Or I could have put you up somewhere for a night or two somewhere I have a friend that owns a big Campground not far from Lehman's. Mohican is very nice to. Thanks for the adventure
Ohio was a pleasant surprise for us. A state we knew nothing about and so full of adventure. We will be back! Thank you so kindly for the invitation. We hope to meet you on the road sometime or the next time we pass through. 😀
Right on! Same here. Someday I would love to be towing a jeep behind our rig. Of course we will need to upgrade as our current van pretty much can't tow anything. 😂
I really enjoy the soothing 🎶 you play throughout your nature walk videos. In all due respect I think y’all should’ve left out the shower peeps. You’re adorable fur baby’s sporting the first mohawk ever I’ve seen on a pooch. Many thanks for showing the amazingly talented Amish woodcarving artwork. Awesome up close view of the unique cicadas but their consistently loud noise would drive me bonkers. 🐕 🐾
Great video..We have been to the Garden of the Gods several times. Yes snakes do fall from trees. We live in Indiana. In Indiana we have Spring Mills Park. You would have loved this park...you could have stayed at our house for a few days. We could have taken you around different places close to us. Roodle could have played with our Bailey. Stay safe and keep traveling. God's blessings
I grew up in Mitchell, IN. Love the Pioneer Village and the caves at Spring Mill State Park. The campground is well maintained and low cost. I will show my age here and say Blue Springs caves is only 2 miles from where I grew up. It was a farm field until the bottom dropped out of the field when I was in my young and the cave appeared.
Love you guys and all your videos. I do not normally post, but when Carrie is sitting on the couch talking...those lights that are flickering are so stinking cute where did you get those, if you do not mind me asking?
Hi Christy! Carrie pinned a link to those lanterns at the top of the comments if you want to take a look. We got them from Amazon. I like how these are solar and USB charged. They look like real flames! 😂
Our next trip will be in Ohio. Great video! How is the new job working out. Sounds like you may need to get a new battery. Sorry. Trixie is still barking at Roodle on tv!
You will enjoy Ohio! We are on the last week of our job here in New Mexico. It's been good but I can't wait to be camping in the forest again! 😂 Trixie misses Roodle. We miss you guys! People really like that gravy recipe you taught us! 👱♂️👩🐕🎾
We watch all of your Advantures and just love you guys and of course Roodle! We are curious why all the beautiful places that you go, you seem to be alone? Do you film before anyone else is awake or what??😂
It's Crazy! For some reason I think people rather pay for camping then use the free ones. Most of these places there are only a couple people camping in them. One thing we do try to do is not go on the weekends if we can help it. Even so, rarely are the free campgrounds completely full. 😀😀😀
Wow I love those lamps. Where did you find those? If you have a demonstration about them on an earlier show I missed it. Please direct me to it or enlighten me. Thank you.
We are loving these lamp! They charge by solar or USB. They set a great mood in the van at night. There are a few different styles on Amazon if you search around a bit. We love them. Great for outside as well.
Try listening to a recording of the cicadas slowed right down. Not what you'd expect😀 Your travels always most interesting, loved those caves and waterfalls and pools. Especially loved the shot of Dave and Roodle walking away, with their matching haircuts.👍
I'm guessing you will not be heading north in IL this time around but in the future I hope you will make it to Starved Rock state park and Matthieusin state park. They have many water falls. They are as far up as route 80.
You probably already know this but CICADAS are loved by snakes for food. That’s why you saw them falling out of trees. They were after the Cicadas. Snakes give me the willies.
We called them "locusts" growing up in Kansas. I can kind of see why someone not familiar with them in the summer time would find them fascinating. Now go looking for bagworms and hedge-apples (brain fruit).
Hi, softdorothy. I moved here from Kansas - I do not believe these cicadas are in Kansas - they only appear every 17 years, when the adults emerge from the ground, where the immature nymphs spend 17 years eating tree roots. The adults only live long enough to mate and lay their eggs. The males do the singing and if you are in an area where there are many, your hearing will be affected. They are almost all gone now. They are only in the eastern and eastern Midwest.
Mark and I grew up visiting Hoking Hills. This park is about an hour from our sticks and bricks. When I watched your video last week I was hoping you visited here!! It’s so fun watching our grandkids explore this park. It brings back so many wonderful memories raising our daughter! It’s so fun watching someone experience this beautiful park for the first time! Thanks again guys for representing Ohio I truly hope we made you feel welcomed!
We came up to Ohio not knowing what to expect. It's one of those states people don't seem to talk about much. We were amazed! The locations we visited were clean and the people friendly. Hocking Hills was like being transported to a magical hidden canyon. It is so well hidden in the trees that it must have been amazing to stumble on this in the early days. 😀😀😀
Mark and I always say we are not leaving Ohio because we don’t love it but if Ohio is this beautiful imagine what the rest of the world looks like!! We love Ohio and it definitely does not get enough credit! Most people don’t realize we have islands too!!
Carrie can you check your audio levels, I have to turn it way up to hear Dave but then when you do the narration it is way too loud. Maybe you can balance the sound better, not sure how this works Love your content 💖
+Linda M thanks Linda! I think we were using our inside voices because we are not used to vlogging in front of a crowded store. I did not do a good job with audio balance! I think I learned a couple of things though so not a complete loss!
+Craig Browning yeah…. I messed up on this one! Audio is such a pain in my arse! I really love my video editor (Movavi) because it works PERFECTLY with my laptop specs on rendering drone footage but lacks some bells and whistles. I googled and investigated youtube university on “equalization Curve” and I think I learned a few things! I appreciate your constructive feedback without being rude or mean! Always growing and learning this video making stuff!
Except for the cicadas I think this is the best one I've seen so far. Of course that's just my opinion. But the sound was to me was a little Annoying. LOL
Never seen a live Cicada before. I would have kept one in resin to preserve like in Jurassic park, since they are so rare to see. As for the snakes in next week's episode, I might have to miss that one. 😵Is it possible to maybe time stamp what part of the video has snakes so I can skip that part? 🤭
@@oneadVANtureatatime 😁 I know! The fact that she said they literally fall out of the trees 🐍🌳 is enough of a no go for me.🙃 She, you & The Roodle are braver people than me!😜
Roodle never gets left in the van on hot days. On 80 degree days or less our van does pretty good if we park in the shade and turn the fantastic fan on. While opening the rear cabin window we get good airflow. If the temperature gets 90 of higher it's time for us to drive to a cooler area 😎
Please stop telling people that all Ohio state parks are free, We welcome visitors, but don't want to over crowd our parks so the locals cant enjoy them. OHIO PARKS ARE NOT ALL FREE.
+@albion2742 Our mistake…. We were going by the Ohio state park website. ohiodnr.gov/discover-and-learn/safety-conservation/about-ODNR/division-parks-watercraft/explore-ohio-state-parks Open every day and always free, Ohio's 75 state parks provide a refuge from daily life.

Love your and Roodles matching haircuts! Beautiful state park!

Nothing better than a truck stop with a blasting hot water I hate it when you get the ones that are just a trickle pressure.

If you had come to Lake Whitney a little later you could have heard them here. We have a bunch of them also. When they are heard you know its SUMMER!
Living in Maryland, I’ve been through 3 cycles of the 17 year cicadas. I find them fascinating and am always a little sad when they’re gone.
I have never seen a cicada but my brother would always talk about them and how loud they get. Thanks for sharing your video and explaining their life cycle.

A leg and toe teaser shower? Just came back from a trip in PA. There was a hatch there. They don't sing in the rain like Fred Aster. ; - )
I felt like singing in the rain myself...that was the warmest rain we have ever experienced.😂
I was digging that Jeep CJ7 at the end of the video 😂 I love older Jeep’s. Great video 👍🏼
Right on! Same here. Someday I would love to be towing a jeep behind our rig. Of course we will need to upgrade as our current van pretty much can't tow anything. 😂
I really enjoy the soothing 🎶 you play throughout your nature walk videos. In all
due respect I think y’all should’ve left out the shower peeps.
Ah yes, cicadas are super loud in N. Alabama in the summer. I have always wanted to go to Lehmans!
We just heard they allow overnight parking at Lehman's! We need to verify that. 😀
Most of the Love's Truck stops have dog parks, we usually go there if one is available.
Good tip, thank you, Noah. I think of showers but never thought about a dog park at Love’s. 😎
I haven’t read all of your comments but have you considered a DC to DC charger? Great video BTW👍🏻
Omgosh yes! That has been a game changer for us.

My dog loves to eat cicadas!
yikes, crazy dog.
That too funny..Roodle paid zero attention to them. 😂
Try listening to a recording of the cicadas slowed right down. Not what you'd expect😀 Your travels always most interesting, loved those caves and waterfalls and pools. Especially loved the shot of Dave and Roodle walking away, with their matching haircuts.👍
Very cool to slow the Cicadas down! We will try that. Roodle and I just got our matching cuts updated 😂 This time I even cut Carrie's hair...
Loved the video and your travels. The audio was a problem for me the camera was low then voice over blew me away.
+Joe Barker thanks for the feedback. I tried a new way to do the voice over! Obviously I have some work to do! Appreciate you watching abd commenting!
+Joe Barker I think we were using our inside voices … lol. Audio is so hard….I’ll keep working on it!
we have a place like that here plus free campin not too far away at a lake in the ADK Mtns :) PEACE
I'm guessing you will not be heading north in IL this time around but in the future I hope you will make it to Starved Rock state park and Matthieusin state park. They have many water falls. They are as far up as route 80.
Thank you, Dawn! Yes next round we will try and explore the northern part of the state! We appreciate the tip and never get our fill of waterfalls. 😎
Hey guys, you talked about the lithium battery that you use, but how many amps is it rated at?
Carrie can you check your audio levels, I have to turn it way up to hear Dave but then when you do the narration it is way too loud. Maybe you can balance the sound better, not sure how this works
Love your content 💖
+Linda M thanks Linda! I think we were using our inside voices because we are not used to vlogging in front of a crowded store. I did not do a good job with audio balance! I think I learned a couple of things though so not a complete loss!
You need to standardize the Equalization Curve throughout your videos, it is distracting to have to change volume levels.
Cicadas are neat, harmless & beneficial insect to the ecosystem.
That was our first experience with cicadas, pretty cool bugs. The sound they make reminds me of an old movie I watched but I can't recall which one.
How long is boondocking at hocking hills?
It is free to get in and visit but no overnight parking at the state park, unfortunately. There is a paid campground there.
Except for the cicadas I think this is the best one I've seen so far. Of course that's just my opinion. But the sound was to me was a little Annoying. LOL
+Janice Gilbert thanks for the feedback! I tried a new way to do the voice over and I don’t think it worked out to well!
oyster mushrooms
Never seen a live Cicada before. I would have kept one in resin to preserve like in Jurassic park, since they are so rare to see. As for the snakes in next week's episode, I might have to miss that one. 😵Is it possible to maybe time stamp what part of the video has snakes so I can skip that part? 🤭
That's sounds just like something Carrie would say! I was surprised she got close enough to film the snakes. 😂
@@oneadVANtureatatime 😁 I know! The fact that she said they literally fall out of the trees 🐍🌳 is enough of a no go for me.🙃 She, you & The Roodle are braver people than me!😜
Do you keep the ac on for ruddle
Roodle never gets left in the van on hot days. On 80 degree days or less our van does pretty good if we park in the shade and turn the fantastic fan on. While opening the rear cabin window we get good airflow. If the temperature gets 90 of higher it's time for us to drive to a cooler area 😎
Please stop telling people that all Ohio state parks are free, We welcome visitors, but don't want to over crowd our parks so the locals cant enjoy them. OHIO PARKS ARE NOT ALL FREE.
+@albion2742 Our mistake…. We were going by the Ohio state park website. ohiodnr.gov/discover-and-learn/safety-conservation/about-ODNR/division-parks-watercraft/explore-ohio-state-parks
Open every day and always free, Ohio's 75 state parks provide a refuge from daily life.
Have fun and take care and take it easy and enjoy it
