Honestly, with all the characters you can collect in the series, it might be worth it to play through it without paying a cent. Not to mention turn based sounds right for Overlord due to characters doing set-up buffs and giving opponents the right to attack before getting absolutely destroyed.
I downloaded the game and got Cocytus. Technically, I didn't know the gatcha mechanic, so I missed getting Aura or Sebas, but I love Cocytus, so it's not a massive loss.
I agree it is amazing, but IMO, if you launch a game like this, the #1 requirement is TONS of heroes... so the meta is less likely to be the same from account to account... not enough heroes IMO

i don't know if i need to have a Crunchyroll account to play this game or not and since i heard you need one to watch anime on there site, i'm a bit hesitant to play this game, especially since i love Overlord and really want to play this game

Nothing extraordinary, nothing genre defining, but definitely an amazing power fantasy with a lot of lore built up by the creator to flesh the world and characters out as if it were an actual MMO. CGI stumbles a bit in S3 imo, but otherwise anything hand drawn is good and the LN art is gorgeous. Voice acting is good, story is cool enough to keep you entertained and wondering what comes next. Definitely worth a watch, perfect for casual viewers as well.
@brother_sothoth honestly sounds pretty fun and does give some vibes of a different anime I saw on RUclips, I think it was called Skeleton Knight from another World I think? Something like that but I might give it a watch soon ^^
