I would love to never hear JJ Abrams in the same sentence as jurassic again.
The good points about this project so far are the following: 1# they have David Koepp's locked script. 2# They're being very cautious about who should direct their movie & are unwilling to budge on making any script changes. 3# They're aiming for an early release date. The sooner the release, the better. 4# Much of the work is already done for the film. All they need is a director & a cast to make it happen, apparently.
Now, here are the major turnoffs for any potential Hollywood movie director looking to land this role: 1# their movie script is off limits for making any changes to make fitting for their creative vision. 2# They're very cautious about a particular director they want to direct their movie. 3: They're on a major time crunch for any talented director who can steer their ship down the right path for such an optimistic release date. 4# much of the film is already done for the film. Whatever they've gotten done so far may not possibly fit the director's creative vision for how he or she wants this project to turn out.
I may not know much about the film industry, but I know film director's like to leave their stamp, which helps make their work stand out, apart from all the rest. There needs to be room for them to fill in their creativity. You can't just hire any film director to direct & shoot for a project like this one. It's gonna take a special kind of movie director to respect the wishes of David Koepp & Steven Speilberg, & let's be honest, that narrows their choices down by a wide margin. The time crunch is a bit scary too for any film director. That optimistic release date for next year on July 2nd may prove to be a major deturent. That alone could discourage that specific movie director they're seaking for.
The sensible thing would be to postpone the release date, that is, until they find themselves a decent director who can follow their orders. Of course, if they want it released early next year without compromising the script, Steven Speilberg could just step back in the director's role & shoot the film exactly how they want it to be. The reason why he gave up directing was to have the next generation to carry his beloved movie franchise into the future, but if the film director's these days don't have their best interest at heart, then I would just say the heck with it. Desperate times call for desperate measures. This could be the very thing that forces the veteran director to step back into the director's role to shoot another Jurassic film once again.
It'll be very interesting to see the making of and all the behind the scenes footage, once the movie is out.
Script is locked in and they have a shooting window which means pre-production is well underway.
the good news is that they love the script and they are PROTECTING it. which that was the main problem with the jurassic world trilogy, the writing. remember guys, we need to see the glass half full.
If the script is finished, the production is ready to go, and they have actors hired.
This film is pretty much at least organised and ready to go. They just need a director to film it.
This won't be a disaster like Alien 3. That had multiple directors come and go. Scripts were completely rewritten during filming and production that needed rework and built again because of the studio making decisions and trying to release it on a deadline.
Sounds like everything's raring to go, but it's not for certain if they even have a whole cast yet. If that's not the case, it can turn into a bigger time crunch than it already is

I'm glad the script is locked. I'm tired of all these weirdos wanting to put their stamp on beloved franchises and changing the spirit of them. Getting rid of a director who wanted to play power games gives me even more faith in this next title.
Deadline sucks, too short for an epic movie. I am one of the few fans who will defend jp3 and jwfk and enjoyed the nostalgia (if not the plot) of dominion. However, even my eternally optimistic self is worried.
@@annabrown3337idk how u would say this tbh. We know its a smaller scale movie with a script already locked in so it really isnt that farfetchd to get to the july release date. As long as they get a director soon then this has potential to be the best thing since JW
Dude I totally agree with you. It’s a smaller production, they’re professionals with a script, there’s no reason to make people wait another three years. That’s ridiculous. Btw I’m so happy David Koepp is back as a writer. The fact that that’s how the announced it, with all this built around HIS script, releasing in 2025, is probably more exciting than anything I could I hoped for regarding this franchise.
Koepp is a brilliant sci-fi action horror director, even Indy 5 was a brilliant action and thoughtful sci fi movie. And just think about the intellectual depth of a movie like The Lost World( Nick van Owen was an earth first eco terrorist saboteur, Roland tempo the Hunter, Ludlow the nephew… remember, these ideas were his, not from the book), let alone what he did with Jurassic Park, making it in ways better than the book with his changes.
And also, the Horror of War of the Worlds, I hope we get some of that. Spielberg is steering this ship yet again so that’s super exciting too , and fingers crossed 🤞, but the possibility of him saying fck it I’ll do it are not zero 😂
I think it’ll be delayed until 2026. I think it’s kinda logical tbh.

I have a feeling we’re going to get an announcement that it’s been delayed because July is becoming crowded with other big movies like Superman Legacy and Fantastic Four along with this apparent rushed nature of this project. Plus, Jeff Snieder is absolutely correct about that Hollywood is atrocious about learning good lessons from past mistakes and they more often that the wrong lessons from success stories. I really want it to take the Predator approach with Prey (a franchise I gave up on prior to).

Really thought they would've regrouped and given the franchise a rest of at least 5 years after the underwhelming JW3.This strange rush to get a new film out is most concerning.
I have a feeling this movie will be very similar to the lost world novel. It’ll be smaller scale, with very well-written characters, themes, and philosophical discussions, while also retaining the action-adventure feel of both the movies and the novel.
Companies need to understand good movies = to more success than bad movies, in my opinion they should delay it.
The early release date makes you wonder if they’re planning to use some kind of video AI to assist them in making this movie. Case of point, Sora AI.
We need good Jurassic movies that are faithful to the source material. We don’t need another big dumb action movie that misses the whole point of the franchise.
They probably knew that dominion wouldn’t land well with audiences and because of that they’re making a new Jurassic World movie that would fix all the problems Dominion had
Dominion is one of the biggest post-pandemic success.

I never judge a movie until I’ve seen it, but I am not convinced anything worthwhile can be produced in such a short span of time. Something about this feels so canned. I hope they have a good story

It’s clear the momentum of this is being propelled by the competition of David Robert Mitchell’s Dino movie and Warner bros Dino movie. That’s why Spielberg has been so determined to make this a great movie. He has something to prove, especially with new comer DRMitchell who will make a great movie I promise, watch under the silver lake. It’s a perfect movie, great direction for a Dino techno mystery thriller. jj abrams project tho??? I ain’t worried. I don’t trust that guy to make anything I would like. Not unless he gets Matt Reaves to take it over…!then I’ll lose my mind with excitement 😆

I'm surprised by 9:08. You say that as if it's a controversial statement. Not that the sequel movies can't be enjoyed (depending on who's watching & under what circumstances), just that they're very lacking when it comes to what made JP good. Put another way, "the first movie had great characters with great interactions and actual ethical discussions. If you remove Jurassic Park's heart and intelligence, you get Jurassic Park 3. A lot of Man Utd fans don't rate Rashford that highly. He's never been a smart or technically great player. He's clearly a bit slower than he used to be before the back injury as well. Once his pace is gone there's not much else to his game.

We want Spielburg to direct it. He can't that much of a coward! At some point he has to direct.
1. the movie will most likely not drop in July 2025. No way that it's possible to finish the movie till that date, if they dont even have a director for it
2. its gonna be horrible either way. After Dominion I lost all trust in the Jurassic IP, at least the games are good (yet, that survival crap will come soon).
3. the JW movies ruined a possible forgoing in that universe. So you have to reqrite everything from scratch. Using Dominion as a baseline there are way too many open questions (like how on earth did a few hundred dinosaurs populate the entire globe all of a sudden??? like seriously???)
4. If they don't go back to Isla Sorna, which was neglected in the JW universe, I have no high hopes for the franchise to return to its old glory

For the love of god please stop calling this Jurassic World 4. It’s Jurassic Park 7. We’re finally moving on from goofball fart joke era of Jurassic so let’s embracing it. Koepp being announced before anything is the best news imaginable, he’s a brilliant sci-fi action horror writer, with even the best parts of Indy 5 were probably him, and let’s not forget War of the Worlds (please can we get that vibe for Jurassic 7). Be happy Leitch isn’t directing and that they just want some bloke to show up to work and film his script, we’ve always said the script is the most Important part. And can I just say, I know it won’t happen, but can we all just appreciate that for the moment the possibility of Spielberg saying “fck it I’ll do it” are not zero 😂 🤞
The official Universal Pictures websites has literally listed this movie as "An all-new Jurassic WORLD Event Movie". So I think it’s fair to call it Jurassic World 4.
