Was it!? It was cringy af! 1. Don’t have kids, no matter how good society becomes you are bringing sentience into the world where the default state is suffering; 2. Especially if you are a leftist, do not force your kids to fucking chime for you! Gosh.
@@aescubed Anti-natalism is a black hole. How can you disparage having children when your anti-life ideology brings nothing but stress, cynicism and suicidal ideation to those who are already suffering and desperate for meaning? That’s not healthy for anybody.
This was a superb conversation. Great guest and invaluable supplemental material to Mark Fisher’s Capitalist Realism which is an incredibly evocative book. It’s difficult to understate how illuminating it is. It gets to the core of how an economic system, in this case Capitalism, alters the very way we perceive reality, our humanity, our situation and how we feel about whether or not we can do anything about it.
29:90 Innuendo Studios was talking about nostalgia and how much more accelerated it is these days because the 90s was the last time that the world wasn't "terrible" only "bad" - it was the time where the neoliberal system hadn't completely shit the bed and ruined *everyone's* life so we all look back on that time as the last Good Times
I just heard this episode today (2019-08-15), and in it learned of the podcast The Guillotine for the first time. I've been looking for a podcast to offer a leftist analysis of the news of the day for a minute, so I was pretty jazzed...only to find out it was canceled. Bummed about this, but now maybe further motivated to start a new podcast to fill this niche.
The intro was so cute!!

Most adorable opening ever! 😊😍😭
Great book and great take on it guys, love hearing the emotion. It can be so isolating feeling the anger and indignation at the capitalist system!
I just came here to comment that this is my most favorite RevLeft episode ✊
