AH so YOU were the Imp behind the winning Anglia! Superb drive sir! Unfortunate flywheel explosion - lucky though! I knew a guy who lost 3 toes to a shattered flywheel in a Cortina on a rally once!
Watched this race on YT from the Anglia's onboard; great to see a different perspective. Scary to realise what happened when the Cortina went pop! Thanks for the upload.
Great, mature driving. There were many times being overly aggressive would have ended in disaster. Not a bad seat to be in, with the fords not giving much thought to racing.
Epic! Been round this track enough times to kmow how full on the short track is. I was on the edge of my seat again James! Some quick drivers out there. That was one flying saucer coming toward you! 🛸 Glad your 'trusty steed' took one for the team! Let it rain 🌧️ on race day is all I say, lets see them catch you then 😎🤣🤣🤣
Love it! I love how much these classics move around and the amount of input you need to give! Those Anglia's look hella' fun as well Keep 'em coming - your vids are great!
@Jamesibbotson875 So they're cross-ply tyres as opposed to radial (which are basically standard now)? Is it the cross-ply tyres that cause/create the particular driving style (i.e what makes the cars look like they're constantly drifting!)? Is it that cross-ply's give best cornering performance at large slip angles? Or am I completely misunderstanding something?!
Great stuff James, new Shrigley engine looks good, can't wait to get my latest. Anglia driver was a bit unruly, guess the trees you use over there are not prone to flu spots!
@@Jamesibbotson875 Ah ok. Hope you got your bonnet fixed! You always got the right line going into the straight, just a shame you didn't have a smidge more power.
You gave ''er hell, son!!! I"m wondering, that sweeping turn about two from the finish line, I wonder what would happen if you just went outside and just gave 'er the beans?!?!?!!!!
@@Jamesibbotson875 Just thinking the same thing. Sitting on the inside of the corner most of the way round seems a bit odd. Go as deep as you can on the outside of the corner until you run out of road, then chuck it towards the inside kerb. Exit speed is king. Worth a try.
@@phildavenport4150 yes you’re correct, but when you have 2 or 3 cars right up your back bumper trying to find a way round you, running to the outside opens the door for them.
@@Jamesibbotson875 Well, you would be braking later than them, so by the time they get to where you were, you're not there any more. And your exit speed will be greater as well. Why not try it?
You are very forgiving, others should take plenty of photographs of their cars because they will need them when putting their jigsaw puzzle back together because their luck will run out soon with bad driving antics
I'm going to join in and say that Michael put you on the grass at Graham Hill on lap 1. No congratulations are due. Thanks to the guy in the Alan Mann Racing (red and gold) Cortina for not taking advantage though.
That's an outstanding Imp you've got there!
There was more excitement in that one race than a whole season of F1.
Thanks!
These drivers are all crazy. Found out I can hold my breath for 13 minutes😂
Me too😂
Outstanding how quick that Imp is..Keeping with the bigger outputs of the bigger engines.
Thanks!
That blue anglia was all over the shop,
I think that's called a 'Mobile Chicane'
Great driving. That little imp has great corner speed.
Thanks 👍

Yeah was a bit shocking to see in first person!
That little engine pulling really hard, sounding great and all on a 3 bearing crank. Mega
It sure is
Imp-ressive stuff! Sounds great. You did well to avoid that wayward Anglia early on....
Impressive indeed considering the origins of the engine, a hand portable WW2 fire pump engine.
Yeah I hate repairing bodywork so the only option was avoidance!
@@Jamesibbotson875 Definitely worth losing a place to protect the car, anyway!

Imp forever ! ❤ Great !!! Cheers from 🇨🇵

I love racing on the old Dunlop tyres, makes it very exciting

@@MrSpanks yes crossply construction.
To get the best out of a crossply you need to be 4 wheel drifting in the turns
Loved every second of it. Great motor
Thanks!
Good to see you back on the track again.
Thanks
Cortina driver counting his blessings that the flywheel didn't exit via the transmission cover.
Counting his toes too...

Excellent race James! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
What a great race.
Thanks!
Yes that,s is Racing, Great Job from all Drivers.
I see what they mean by a "Live " axle regarding the Fords what with the wiggling.
Definitely!
Good job you guys,,, Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Man did you all wagered your houses before the race? That's some tough racing right there
Thanks!
Bit rude by that Anglia driver.
Forgive him Lord, he knows not what he does.
Excellent!
Thank you! Cheers!
looks so much fun
Was a hectic race, the crossplys spice things up too
Loadsa fun!
Just waiting on blue anglia flipping pure nuts
That Anglia drove you off the road! How did the Cortina rejoin the race I saw it blow up!?
He didn’t rejoin, there’s a few painted in lotus colours.

@@newtronix nope still taped up haha!
That’s the game having a 1 litre, have to make it count in the corners!
The Imp had good late braking & corner speed but needed more GGs for straight line speed.
Yeah we’re always lacking in a straight line

There'd be seasoned cops out there that couldn't apply pressure anything like the Imp can.
Thanks!

Tyres and flat spots (damn auto correct)
