CBS Radio presented "LUM 'N' ABNER" as a weekly half-hour series from 1948 through 1950. The network thought they could also be successful TV stars as well. Despite their previous success in a series of "B" movies in the early 1940's, Lauck and Goff were unable to secure a potential sponsor for this unaired pilot, and the network finally dropped them from their roster after the 1949-'50 season.

A 15-minute TV pilot was produced by CBS in 1948. It isn't as widely available as this.

Thankfully it returned as a 15-minute strip show for a final hoorah in 1953 and 1954.
