We love not only your kite flying skills, but shooting, managing, and compiling all these videos is just an amazing talent! Thank you for sharing all these great videos!
If it's junk, Carl, then I've got plenty of it! And all of it, kites and "junk", is sitting idle until we come out of lockdown, by which time winter will be almost here! I hope it's not snowing where you are.
Glad you did a video on this..I've watched many of your vids that feature line laundry, and wondered how to attach...now I know!... and can't wait to try it out
We all have to learn from each other, I think. I certainly knew nothing when I started, and although I worked out some things for myself, seeing what others do was also useful.
Impressive. I'd like to (safely) fly one of these at a music festival, the last two I went to were certainly windy enough. By the way I immediately recognised that beach, I used to go there with Granddad as a kid. Haven't been back over since the big one, I hope the mall still has some life left, the abandoned suburbs look surreal on Google Earth.
Hi Damien, good to hear from you. A lot of my 2,000+ videos were made on New Brighton Beach, but in recent years I've flown mostly at North Beach (closer to home, easier parking). New Brighton mall turned into a desert years ago, more so since the quakes, with just a few $2 shops here and there. Even those have disappeared, as I found when I made a visit last week. The council has great plans to revitalise the area, but they will never work.
One of the greatest things about your channel is how I'll come to look for info on one thing, but by the end of the video, my mind's changed and I'm curious about something new entirely. Case in point, that Snake from Metropolis Drachen is amazing. I finally received my kites and am waiting for the rainy season to be over to fly.
It's certainly frustrating for everyone - for you, because this is the time of year when the weather's improving and you should be into regular flying, and for me because winter is coming and I've been missing some of the last good flying days before it arrives.
Love these informational videos you do sir, I miss your daily kite flies though, hopefully we can kick this quarantine in the rear soon and go back to being outside flying kites.
I certainly hope so, Meiumi. I still have one video to upload from the last day of flying before lockdown, so I'll do that soon, but I want to be flying by the end of next week when lockdown may end.
Beauty in the sky. Kids and big kids love it. It is all relative, you go on a holiday for a week airfare, hotel meals, come home nothing to show. BUT, with buying something bro show for years.
Thanks, Glenn. We're all trying to do something to relieve the boredom - let's hope this terrible thing clears up soon and life can get back to some degree of normality.
Question: when you attach the "whatever you are flying" item to the line does it matter at which height you attach it to kite? I mean does it matter if it's higher on the line vs. lower on the line according to the wind conditions?
I usually keep most items fairly low, Amy, so that they're easily visible to people on the beach. But sometimes, especially if the beach is deserted, I'll raise them high so they can be seen from the nearby road. It doesn't really matter where you put them, it's just a question of choice and convenience. They are best not too close to the lifter kite, however, so you have to adjust the height of that accordingly.
Thanks for your kind comment, Michael. I've aged a bit more since that video was made, and I'm not sure if the voice would be up to doing any more commentaries!
Thank you for the amazing videos ,I learned so much from your videos ..10/10
I'm glad you've found the videos useful.

Thanks for that, Steve. I'd rather be out flying than making videos, but lockdown is a good time to do more editing, I guess.
Wonderful and instructive video. I've used this method for years and can confirm its the easiest way to fly line laundry
Thank you, and I hope you're having a lot of fun with your flying.
I was wondering how to do kite laundry. Thanks for the video Jim.
Glad to help!
Excellent Jim. At one time items on you line were called "sky junk" but like you said some items are rather too expensive to be call junk.

You're really very good at these instructional videos Jim.
Thanks, Michael. I would have made it a little better if I could have got out to do some filming - it's hard just relying on old footage.

Glad it was helpful - have fun!
Great vid
Thank you!
It's good to get other perspectives on how to do these tasks, thank you Sir!

Ah. Meant to respond under my account, achiral. The Snake will look great with my new George Peters Sky Bird.
The snake should "fly" well under the Sky Bird. Have fun!
Great video jim for the up and coming kite flyers. We are all getting cabin fever busting to get out great to se you videos. Stay safe 👌

That Sussex flag is a long way from home. My kites are all missing the beach too.
I haven't lived in Sussex since November 1972, but it still feels like home to me!
Great video Jim. I like the deep pockets remark. Thanks again it was entertaining. Be safe Jim.
My pockets are empty these days, Dewey, and I hate to think how much has come out of them in the past to pay for all the items that I've bought.
It's all about having fun.

Thank you for posting. I really enjoyed your video
Thanks for watching!
very nice!
Thank you!
Seems a good teacher
Unfortunately, I don't get paid for it, Rachel. It's a long time since I had a paying student.
Perfect!

Why not just use a larkheads knot through the hole, instead of the carabiner?
Why not try it and see which you prefer? Maybe you could then upload a video showing the advantages/disadvantages of both.
Hey where to buy the snake spinner?
Thank you.
It appears on your video at 1:15
It came from Into The Wind. See: intothewind.com/kites/accessories/tails-line-laundry/itw-riviera-snake-wheel-kite-line-laundry.html .
@@JimNicholls Thank you so much!!
Sending love from India.
U on Instagram?
Your id so that I can follow you.
No, I'm not into social media (other than RUclips). I'm too old to bother, and too busy to deal with it anyway!
What kites do you recommend for attaching the character kites too thanks for sharing
Your voice sounds like you could never get mad at boys will be boys.
You should narrate children's animation or books.
