Dark and Darker Parrying the Falchion from Both PoVs | A Longsword Parry Guide

- Today's video is a dark and darker parrying the falchion from both povs a longsword parry guide. Went and got some clips of parrying the falchion and lined them up alongside the falchion attacks by matching up the server times on each recording. Had some success finding a spot to test over the next few days that might be pretty reliable to try and parry most of the spots on the body from the falchion first attack. Hopefully this will help you all learn to hit some more parries on these falchions since there's so many out there right now with how good the weapon is.

I’ve been getting so much better at parrying against most opponents and I’ve got to thank you for getting me into the longsword, I don’t think I would’ve sunk so many hours into this game if it weren’t for the longsword

Incredible stuff. Falchion was always my number 1 problem when using the longsword and this double view really helps to see it from everyone's perspective. Watching you test a lot of the positions was also extremely helpful. I was always a more reactionary player... time to change that Lol 🙏
Found a lot of success parrying off the left side around belt height since making this video personally. Hopefully info helps you out too buddy

He played it as well as he could that's for sure. Unfortunately, got his wizard killed since he got outta range and the wizard stepped forward xD
@@oggieson Ha, I saw that too XD wizard was either cookin' too much from swarm and needed to get in or a bit too thirsty for your homies lol. *Queue up the "it was then that I realized.. I fucked up"* I gotta practice more taking advantage of those attack of opportunity parries forsure! Also parrying off of PvE to secure kills. You use the longsword so gracefully, its sick!

This was really helpful. Shortsword would be cool to see next, both rogues and slayer fighters are using them a lot right now. You would think they’re an easy parry with the overhead but somehow it’s inconsistent for me
Man I haven't seen many shortsword players since I've been doing solo hr crypts and not touched gc/ruins so I never find rogues xD I shall attempt for nearly all weapons in the game though, but I'll put shortsword near the top of the list!
Is a fast sweep from top to bottom not an option on seeing hand start the swing? Like a sweep to catch the block almost like how you sweep to land hits on multiple enemies. Like fishing with the tip of your longsword, while hold rmb, to hit parry early?
I've tried this in previous playtests to no success, but might be worth a try again since I'm better with the weapon/game now.

Hey Oggie, I've discovered my biggest challenge as a gray longsword fighter is taking on 2v1's and/or overly aggressive players who just stuff me and I can't parry them. I feel like people catch up to me very easily and just bum rush me.
Thoughts?
Yeah this is tough to deal with. Usually if I can't take one of them out before sprint runs dry I lose as well. Best thing I think is if they're stuffing you try to space with a side strafe/side jump backwards and look to parry whichever one of the weapons has the easiest to parry attack.
If the attack is about 70 frames desync, you could try stepping away from the strike slightly to steal some of the desync back.
I will attempt to actively do this and see how it feels.
I find I get a bit too far back and the swords of skeles whiff alot. Mebbe a combined backpedal/strafe duck will get some of that latent swing.
Am I the only one who is unable to do a riposte attack? Even after a successful parry the game wont let me attack straight from a block and forces me into the thrust attack

Yeah riposte is tied to the right click. So, after a successful block with longsword right click again to riposte.
@oggieson7962 Oh so I was still doing it wrong. I thought you had to parry, right click (to block after the fact idk), and then left again.
They need to make the first person animation better match the 3rd person animation so that it doesn't feel like shit when you "miss" a parry even though you clearly didn't
Yeah it can be rough. These two perspective videos helped me just by watching the clips while editing at least, which is why I wanna do some more to help the longsword bros out

I'd like to see a super compilation on parrying different mobs. Getting quick parries means faster clear time.
True, I could do a full PvE parry video. I'll try and work with the boys this weekend to go around getting clean parry clips for all the mobs again.
@oggieson7962 I would do it either by map or by mob type if I were you. "This is how to parry every skeleton/mob on crypts." That way if I have trouble with specifically goblins, I'm not watching a 30 minute video on parrying skeletons. Good content as always tho brother. 👌
Honestly, IM should of had you parry from the other side, would make a lot of attacks much easier to parry.
We should be able to choose which side we want to parry from.
Pretty sure that’s why they have it the way it is, it’s supposed to be very hard
I don't mind that it's this side we can parry from, but I want them to tighten up the server stuff so we can actually play in the moment and not have to predict nearly a second in advance sometimes what the enemy is gonna do after seeing their positioning/attack start
It isn't desync the issue here is interpolation delay.
Looked it up, didn't realize there was a term for that interaction. I think you're right for sure. Though, with how absurd the servers have been I feel sometimes it may be attributed to both things intermingling. Thanks for the tip on what this could be though buddy! Learned somethin new lol

longsword is cool but unfortunately just isnt that good hopefully it gets a buff along with other 2 handed weapons

If you riposte someone in a fight, they're probably gonna die, not to mention the auto attacks are pretty darn good too
@@tango2327 falchion has better move set, same dmg, less move speed penalty, allows you to use lantern or shield. Longsword is a gimmick weapon , sure parry is cool but any time I see someone running longsword it’s a free kill for me because it’s just not good tbh
Longsword needs some hefty adjustment to bring it anywhere near to meta, agreed. The left click being so bad compared to other weapons is the biggest issue. They need to adjust riposte damage down and move some power into the left click to balance the weapon out so it's not a "fish with right click to win" type weapon for sure
It just shows how bad the overall combat system is compared to Mordhau.
I wish they would just copy Mordhau to a certain extent,
I need many times just to stab or overhead or side swing depending on the situation,
i do not want drags and accels or feints
But a parry system on all weapons is needed and not all weapons should be able to riposte.

mordhau sucks man you can Just randomly parry arrows by swinging your weapon lol
tldr falchion still amazingly op and not really viable to parry reliably
I've had massive success parrying nearly every falchion first attack over the last two days by using the method near the end of the video here. Has been crazy consistent for me
