    Damn.....I thought I was the only fool who collected old saws. It all started when my dad passed away and as a tribute to him I got his old Montgomery Ward saw running. Turned out to be a McCulloch 610. I now have 2 610's, a 650. Then I got hooked on those little Homelites. I have 3 XL2's and an XL. Recently I picked up a Super XL12 that I will restore. Thanks for the vid!

      Ha ha ha, it's a sickness for sure. You have some nice saws. That Montgomery Ward (610), solid runner. The 650 is a ripper! All the saws you mentioned, I have in my collection as well. The McCulloch 600 series being some of my favorites. All the best!

    Been collecting for only 3ish years. Have 80+ homelights, close to 100 older echo/deere saws, sold 60 macs and still have around 40, and roughly 50 older odds and ends, wrights, lombards, poulan, craftsman, pioneers, etc. Its an addiction. The little Xl2 saws came with both single and dual triggers and as small as an 8 inch bar.

    The 295 Poulan is probably one of my favorite budget truck saws/sectioning firewood saws. I got one in a package deal a month or two ago. I had one with the funky ez-tensioner on the cover and swapped it out for a different clutch cover and adjustable bar like you have. They work great on the cheap and if i hurt it making firewood its no big loss to me. Unlike my older homelites i don't mind it getting beat up or letting a relative learn to use a saw with it. Awesome haul though! And the 3516 and similar models have nostalgia for me as my father used one for years and years and the saw cut way above its weight. Made good firewood for the average homeowner.

    • @EightWheelsRollin
      @EightWheelsRollin  10 месяцев назад +1

      I've never run a 295. It sounds like it has been a good runner for you. The bar and chain tensioner is not something I've seen before. If you swapped out a bar and clutch cover for it, it must work well. Your 3516 story is similar to mine. My Dad had a Pro-Mac 510 growing up. Good stuff!

    Wow, that is quite a haul , and quite diverse to boot ! I wonder if the guy that had the 10-10 wanted to get rid of the saw because it wouldn't cut. The chain is on backwards. HA HA ! Looks like you will be busy for quite awhile.

      @EightWheelsRollin  10 месяцев назад +1

      I thought the very same thing when filming the video, what an assorted bunch of saws. If there was anyone who would notice the backwards chain, it would be you, ha! An eye for detail, good catch! I do have my work cut out for me with this lot of saws, that's for sure. The big Mac 1-70 most likely has a McCulloch carb on it, and the only place that has kits is Sugar Creek Supply. They have repro kits for a number of obsolete carbs, and have an excellent selection of decals also. If you are lucky and it had the carb upgrade to a Tillotson HL , the saw will be a lot easier to start and run. The little Mac is based on the Italian McCulloch designs FYI.@@EightWheelsRollin

      @EightWheelsRollin  10 месяцев назад +1

      I did check the 1-70, lucky for me it has the Tillotson HL carb. Thanks for turning me on to Sugar Creek Supply. I'm not sure about the 1-70, but Super 33 is going to need a carb kit for sure. I just picked up another Super 33 today. Between the two, I'm hoping to have at least one good runner. I don't know much about the little 3516. I've watched a few videos of people running them and rebuilding them. I'll have to dive into it at some point. Are they a good saw or are they a "Mr. Poo"?

    Nice ! I’m jealous it looks like you have the pintail chain on that 33.. I totally restored one but have never found an original pintail for it. If you have an extra 1/2” pintail chain I might have some stuff that’ll help you complete yours I’d trade for. I know I have a chain cover and possibly one emblem and other odds & ends

    • @EightWheelsRollin
      @EightWheelsRollin  7 месяцев назад +1

      I would love to see your restored 33! I have two Super 33's. I picked one up along with an older Pioneer 1200 a while back. The guy I got the saws from also gave me a box of rusted chain and a couple bars. I haven't had an opportunity to go through the box, so I'm not sure what saw the chain goes to. To top it off, I just moved and have no idea where the box is...ha ha. When I get settled, I'll take a look. Hit me up in a few months. That 1/2" pintail chain is hard to find.

      Ha ha, I wouldn't argue with you. The 610 is one of my favorites, just solid saws. The 700 is a fantastic saw too! I'm a Mac guy first, followed closely by Stihl and a Homelite chaser....never owned a Husky. Not that they are bad saws, but just like you, I really like my Macs!
