This video is very well done , explains things in a clear manner and takes you thru a logical sequence in the set up...Thank You for producing such a helpful & informative presentation.
We just purchased a Coleman Lantern, first time travel trailer owner’s . The vid was very informative, I think you could not have made it any clearer. Thanks
Here's a tip for anyone whose RV has a built-in 30A shore power cable that cannot unplug from the RV. I have been diligent about keeping mice out but a couple got in through the power cord opening while the RV was plugged in. I caught them with sticky traps but, to prevent further incursions, I got some stainless steel wool that I wrap around the cord just inside the door for stowing the cord. Before closing the door tightly, I tug some of the steel wool through the little cord opening, then snap the big door shut and slide the little door down onto the steel wool. This has not failed to keep mice out.
I got myself 17B on Tuesday. Pulled out of the Camping World. To the gas station across the street. And hit the whole left side with the gas station post.😅
Thanks for the thorough & easy to follow explanation. I no longer have a camper, but a friend of mine just bought a Coleman LT-17B, so I have found myself watching videos about them. I had a 16 foot Scamp which I may have kept if it had another 2 to 4 inches of headroom.
Took my daughter on a road trip across America 2 summers ago and caught Marcus Lemonis eye. Him and camping world ended up gifting us a 2021 Coleman 17b. I have no idea what im doing and taking off on our first family trip for my birthday in June. Really appreciate your videos! Im finding out all the stuff we need to get before we go. I gotta remember how to turn this water heater on....God bless!
Thank you we have a 16fbs I bought it used and it had no jacks in the front I was confused I did end up purchasing some bolt on jacks, frame is not what I expected but I will end up buying some of them Pyramid jacks forsure. Thank u for the video helped me out.
@Murphys Luck not sure where you are located but we are currently trying to sell ours. We're in central Illinois. We love this camper, just going to upgrade to a bigger one to better accommodate our family. Thanks for the sub.
Hi there complete Newbie’s here! After years of dreaming and talking about it, we are Finally going to buy our very first camper! I don’t have the slightest clue about how this works but I have been searching for a camper that’s not too big but big enough for 5 of us and this one seems perfect with the bunk beds! I stumbled across your video and I just wanted to say thank you for sharing all of these helpful tips on what to expect and for listing all of the necessities that we will need, I didn’t realize how little I knew about the camper world lol! We live in Michigan which isn’t too far from Illinois and I was wondering if you know of a good reasonable place to buy from? Also I was wondering if there are any safety precautions to take for small children? I have a 5 and a 6 year old so any advice would be appreciated and so helpful thanks a million 😃 Also you just gained another subscriber! Thank you!
You should definitely check them out. We loved ours when we had it and we have since upgraded. It was our first camper and learned all the ropes in that one.
Love your videos man! I do have a question though about the ac unit. Where does it drain? mine tends to drip down the side of the camper. Is this normal?
Yes that's typical. Some people have made a 'gutter system' for it which seems to consist of a piece of trim and some of the rain gutter diverters for the camper. I didn't do that to ours but it seems like it would work better than letting it run down the camper.
We didn't have it for this small of a camper for our 3/4 ton truck but I would highly recommend it on virtually every other vehicle that is smaller than that.
@@francesesposito6018 it a socket that is already adapted for a drill. You can pick it up on Amazon. +Chad Post yes I believe they have. On the outside surround of the unit the weep holes are most likely plugged up with sealant. It's a n easy fix, just remove it and clear the holes and reinstall. That should help out. You might also check the pan under the unit and make sure it is sloped to the outside and make sure you level or even lean the camper slightly to that side.
It really would depend on how soon you could get it in or how hands on you are. If you feel comfortable I would say that it could definitely be done at home so you wouldn't have to wait on the dealer to do it. Sometimes it take quite a while to get in and also get it back.
@e hubbard we had ours fail at a campsite while loading up earlier this season. I did a replacement video immediately following that weekend. These factory jack are no good that is for sure!
Up Did the rest jacks fail ?? Or was it the pyramid Jack? I couldn't really hear on the video so I'm looking this up now on comments my back one seem okay I tightened them down to the ground and then today I went and checked them cuz they're wobbling a little bit so I went there they're loose I don't know maybe I should put some loctite and a blue loctite around there or some kind of I don't know silicone tape or something. I like the ones that you put up front I'm going to try to get those myself but right now I'm tired I just spent a lot of money getting this camper so I'm going to try to just get the pyramid ones that you had do they work okay without issues? Or should I get the ones that you have in your upgraded video
You can definitely just use those pyramid style one. The only advantage to the scissor ones is they are attached and you don't have the find a place to store them.
They are probably the cheapest travel trailers on the market. We bought ours last year and they were selling for around $12000 out the door. I believe the price has gone up a bit and they are probably around $14000-$15000 now

That's a great video. I am purchasing a new one, and I am so happy to see all the items that you used and the links for them! Thank you!

Great video thanks for sharing!!
Very helpful video, thanks. Just curious, why blackout your trailer tag? It’s always in public view
when you are towing it.
Good video. Thanks.

Ok awesome found this video lol. Great job with the camper btw
Hey, thanks!
My city water is leaking out is that because I need the regulator?
Incredible video! Thank you this helped me so much
You're welcome
Please do a "De- winterization" video. Thanks for making the time to do these for us.
I'll see what I can come up with. I have some filming today for some more mods. If I get some free time I definitely will.
Do you have to stabilize the front?
It's pretty shaky if you dont
Great information ❤
Love this video. So informative!
I'm so glad that it helped. I'm hoping to do another one that is a little more in depth.
Thanks so much,
Do you have to use sway bars with the Coleman??
I really depends on the tow vehicle. We have a 3/4 ton truck so we didn't use one. I would say that most vehicle would need it though
Awesome
Vid. Thanks!

What kind of electrical hook up do they need?
@@arom8438 it takes a 120V 30 Amp plug in or you can get an adapter for a standard wall outlet.
@@SmallFamilyBigDreams thanks, was wondering if I could use my 1800 inverter that only has 120v 20a… thanks
Thanks for the video
Glad you liked it.
Thanks a lot very helpful
Glad it helped
Very helpful. thanks.
You're welcome glad it helped.
That was great
thanks for that just got one , and no idea what i'm doing lol
You'll love it! Have fun!!
Hello, what is the GVWR for this trailer? the one posted on the trailer itself. Thank you.
The 2021 GVWR is 3850 lbs
@@SmallFamilyBigDreams Thanks!
Any water leaks with yours?
No we were pretty fortunate.
What type of wire connection to the truck? Is it 4 pin or 7?
It's a 7 pin since it has electric brakes.
So helpful!
You're very welcome
Great informative video. My wife and I are trying to decide wether to get this same camper. How do you like it so far?
We love it and as cheap as it is we didn't feel bad doing any of our upgrades
no weight distribution?
We didn't have it for this small of a camper for our 3/4 ton truck but I would highly recommend it on virtually every other vehicle that is smaller than that.

What's the steel thickness of the frame and A frame?
@B Dogg my best guess is somewhere between 1/8" and 3/16". Probably a whatever gauge is between them
Thank you
You're welcome. Happy Camping
What type of drill are you using? I tried to use the flimsy tool that it came with and it was a nightmare for a 55 year old lady! Haha
I have an impact driver from harbor freight with a socket that fits on the stabilizers. We didn't get a tool so that's what I ended up getting.
What size is the bit you used with the drill?

We're a pretty small channel so I try and get everyone an answer if I feel like I have enough knowledge about the question.
Im surprised you didnt put scissor jacks on the front
It's on our list of to-dos still. We are planning to change the shower and a few other things.
Careful my 2022 17b Coleman jack failed camper came crashing down just about lost a leg.

These campers are a lot more expensive. Camping world without any upgrades are around 18+k out the door after tax and fees.
