That bass line came out nice sounds like it was part of the record. If you want that alchemist vibe you gotta pitch the sample down set the tempo at like 74 and with a simpler drum pattern. Easier said than done, but that’s how I approach it.

At 03:40... do you timestretch the sample and then chop, or is the timestretch irrelevant when chopping?
I time stretch if I need to. If I want the sample to fit a specific tempo, then I time stretch. I’m pretty sure this was time stretched. Lol

Boom bap hi hats are usually soulful and filtered out with low pass mainly with out quantizing

What are you using for your bass when not sampled and filtered? I am struggling with finding a good VST that I can filter.
I use a stock plugin called Sakura in FL Studio. You really just have to know WHAT tone your going for. You can find good bass one shots too. Hope this helps my friend
@@theycallmeheat Thanks man. Unfortunately I don’t use FL. That’s exactly what I’m trying to do. A set of tools to help me find different bass tones. One shots don’t seem to stretch all that great when the pitch is higher which has what led me to look into vsts.
There’s some good free bass plugins out there. Just google top free vsts usually one floats in those blogs out there

You can, but that will only affect how many chops there will be. There is a time stretch slider though (it’s labeled TS) and that allows you to change the tempo. Hope this helps my friend. 💯

This may be a noob question but why is your BPM so high
Not a noob question at all. The reason is double time gives me a better bounce. It’s easier to quantize as well.
I never understood the whole double time thing...
For me, when I used lower tempos it was harder for me to understand the quantize. So I learned and worked better in double time. I like my drums to sound like a drummer, so I can’t get that feel in single time. Try it out some time, you may fall in love with it
