saw Duck (drums) and Blackie (sax) play together in Kansas City not long ago. Jazz/pop gig but had a great chat with Duck about his first foray into reggae.......they still are the pride & joy of KC..........great nights at the Grand Emporium.
I was a huge Blue Riddim fan. I never missed a KC show. I was lucky enough to be able to plug my cassette deck into the soundboard, many thanks to Jay and Robert for allowing that! I have quite a few tapes from the shows in KC and Lawrence. I need to go back and dig them out. Great memories!!
My friends & I were in Montego Bay at Reggae Sunsplash '82, when this blue-eyed reggae band woke up the sleepy (& stoned) audience at 4.00 a.m. on the Sunday with their hard-core reggae rhythms...Always wondered what ever happened to them...Thanks for posting...really appreciate it.
Duck, the drummer is alive and well (after a bout with MRSA) in Shawnee Mission. He's a good friend of my mom's. But the trumpet player recently died. : (
The Alcapones do an awesome and righteous cover of this song. It didn’t matter if they were white and sang with accents - they captured the locals hearts and stayed awesome for a long time. The crowds loved them because they had mad skills and stayed true to the art form.
I lived in Lawrence, Ks and used to go see these guys all the time in the early '80's. Great memories! Now the song is stuck in my head again. Thanks for posting!
Do you remember when they were Pat's Blues Riddim Band? I think Pabst sent them a stern letter and they dropped the Pats'. The were just plain fun. Who would believe we had such a gem in the middle of the country?
Fantastic! I haven't seen this since they put it on Channel 4 in the U.K in about 1982-83 it was brilliant then, and even better now! Thanks for posting!
I'm a long time fan of the Blue Riddim' Band. Used to hang with them in Fayetteville, Ark. I was always in the front row whenever the band came down from Kansas City to rock the town! College days.
Back in the 90s when the only RUclips we had was VHS tapes and VCR - there was this vhs tape at home titled Reggae Sunplash Editor's Collection. It was a collection of Reggae Sunplash concert performances by the Reggae greats starting from 1979 to 1991. In that VHS Tape there was Blue Riddim. That's how I got to know the band...
My one and only reggae sunsplash, back when I was a student at CAST (now UTECH). I used to sing this and people thought I made up the lyrics. Can't seem to find the Leroy Sibbles contribution though, and Yellowman gave a great performance one morning just before the Cool Ruler (Gregory Issacs)
Fantastic drum and baseline. The lyrics are politically uptight. The 80's decade was when the USA under Ronald Reagan was reshaping the international cold war chess board but directing the laser beam at wife Nancy was a masterstroke of genius. FORWARD.
Nice. I'd heard about TBRB back in the '80s but never knew what they were about. I just had to look up this song after this band (and the song) was mentioned in Aaron Carnes' book, _In Defense of Ska_, which is a really good read, btw. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely love this clip and I sure miss our dear friend Scotty! Big Up BRB!
I have always felt, this riddim, this vibe, is something like heaven. In unity. In peace. In love. Big up, many blessings.
I used to play this 12 " single when it first hit...on my Reggae Radio show in New Orleans. WWOZ. Great song. Great era for Reggae 🎵🎵🎵

Ah, the "Grand Emporium"! George & Roger Nabor say "hi". Used to see Blue Riddim at Parody Hall in KC all the time. Sure miss them, and those days...

I know grammy nominated artist who barely made a penny around here. Tell me more about how the propaganda machine works?
It works with corrupt producers, Jamaica famous on that one 😂
guys from missouri shouldn't sing with a jamaican accent
back when people didn't have the internet to complain, bands like this would get away with it...
Back when people wanted harmony..... 1400 kills this year in Yard. Great job😂
good musicians, horrible lyrics.
Better than all slackness crap from the 90"😂
