Perfect video! Our Maxima just started having large amounts of water inside the door. We have owned it for 7 years. I found your video, and all 5 holes were clogged with hair and dirt. I pulled the hair out out with small needle nosed pliers, wiped it all down on both sides of the gasket, ran another load, and no more water! Thanks.

Wow, I can't believe what an easy fix this is. The water in the gasket has been irritating me for a long, long time. I kept on meaning to google it, but at the time it was always easier to keep on draining the gasket with sponges into the laundry sink. Thank you, Kevin! And yes, get rid of the music.

Thanks man. I thought the sewer was backing up. I found that by shoving a tiny tiny screwdriver through the hard plastic holes revealed a build up of hard powder detergent in the hole and behind the hole. This was more satisfying than popping a zit.

I leave my door open and soap tray pulled out to dry after every load. HOWEVER, I have a dog and I used to have 3. I wash the bathroom rugs and dog bed covers in the washer and the amount of hair and lint I just pulled out of there mixed with fabric softener was shocking. I knew there were holes, but without your video I could only get to the clog from inside the gasket. Now I can take it off and get it all cleaned out behind. I don’t even have the exact same washer, but this was enough to figure out what I needed.

Awesome video ... Thanks ... I would also recommend rinsing the drain holes with a cup of boiling water to wash any residue you might have missed and confirm they are draining properly ... Also use "Affresh" or another cleaning product monthly in the "washer clean" mode.

Also a pipe cleaner (like arts & crafts) or a baby bottle nipple brush.
I would not recommend using metal tools because you do not want to chip the paint and get rust or tear/cut the rubber gasket.

Good information and thanks for posting but I rarely see these holes plugged up. I leave my door cracked open when I'm not using the machine and I also run a little vinegar occasionally in the wash and I have zero problems. Leaving the door cracked open and ventilation is the main thing that will prevent odor problems with these front loaders.

There are other videos on how to check the drain filter underneath the tub. You have to remove the rear access panel. Normally, drain filter is where coins end up, etc, clogging and preventing draining. You are cleaning the front door bellow, which there are videos on removing and replacing bellow as well.

Hi, we needed to clean the filter on this identical machine which we just completed. However, we came across some wiring (black/red/blue between the machine that connected to the door) and had disconnected the red; but we didn't disconnect the black or blue wiring. The red was in the middle but there are two options where it could go. Can you advise if the red is suppose to be connected directly below the black wire or is there space and it's the second opening.

Just went through mopping my laundry room into the half bathroom next to it due to water flowing out of this exact machine, same color. My dispenser was clogged when using powder washing soda. I stuck my fingers down to the hole that goes into the machine then used a bar b q skewer to poked through gently. I will check this next where the water always fill up this pocket. I will never buy a front load again.

I had tried this awhile back and it worked. I wanted to double check and make sure this "fix" was okay to do. Recently our yellow-lab/basset mix started having skin problems and she is shedding like crazy (took her to vet yesterday). Anyway, I'm going downstairs to fix it again and I thought I'd use a very small.CROCHET HOOK to remove the debris.
