Macbeth is an opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi, with an Italian libretto by Francesco Maria Piave and additions by Andrea Maffei, based on William Shakespeare's play of the same name. Written for the Teatro della Pergola in Florence, Macbeth was Verdi's tenth opera and premiered on 14 March 1847. It was the first Shakespeare play that Verdi adapted for the operatic stage. Almost twenty years later, Macbeth was revised and expanded into a French version and given in Paris on 21 April 1865.

Quella sera c'ero. Mai spettacolo d'opera fu più coinvolgente. Verrett, Abbado, Strehler magici.

You are very welcome! Cheers!

listening to Verrett forget Netrebko and most of the other "stars"!
Entièrement d'accord avec vous 😊
For those unfamiliar with post-WWII Italian theater, the legendary stage director Giorgio Strehler (1921-97) was a powerful presence both in spoken theater and opera. The four Strehler productions that I saw "live" are imprinted forever in my mind: Goldoni's Servant of Two Masters, Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio, Shakespeare's The Tempest and Pirandello's The Mountain Giants. While of course I am thankful that there is a visual record of this wonderful production, no video can ever begin to do justice to Strehler's incredible use of light and silhouette. A true magician of the theater!
I was lucky to see his Marriage of Figaro ,The Good Woman of Setzuan and I giganti della montaigne. Each made total sense of the material
Great version!
La meilleure version
The Best Quality 💯👍
Un Macbeth magnifico, sotto ogni aspetto...oggi non fanno più rappresentazioni di alto livello come questa.
❤🇱🇨!!!
@27:22 - when she says "oh my God," I felt that. ❤
❤❤❤❤❤
Grazie per questa meraviglia!
Il piacere è tutto nostro! Cheers!
