God, i love this theme. Powerful and majestic, but sorrowful at the same time. It represents so well the fall of Rome and its impact in history... Is like the swan song of an eagle.
Yeah, I had the same impression about the song. It was like this theme was trying to say: "Don't be sad because is over. Be happy because it happened".
Yeah, mostly the 0:20 part onwards evokes that feeling of something huge and majestic in its last years of agony, like a huge part of history coming to a tragical ending
@@Basil-HDThough it was much weaker, and more importantly Byzantines exist as a separate civilization and as AoE2 takes place during medieval times and a few years after and before it would make more sense that this is meant to more so represent the west

It better represents the WRE than the Byzantines and Italians. I mean, seriously, cataphracts, crossbowmen, knights and condottieri in the 5th century??
@@daroth7127 Yeah but they could've just gone with like Ancient Rome, and while fun, would feel out of place. The late roman period is severely underrepresented in videogames, and I'm kinda glad that (at least in music) AOE2 tries to represent that era of Roman history
Well, that part of history is a landmark in history in general and at least im western society is taught on schools for every kid, so O wouldn't call it exactly forgotten about.
Blue its ok, same as yellow. Even green or gray could work. Late roman empire doenst have too much money to begin with, standar uniform werent a thing. i think, the romans wonder must be something more appropiate for the time, or at least something that doesn't look like a miniature model when compared to the units around it, like the Old St. Peter's basilica or something 🤔
I wish MC had created a real roman fraction. Love for AoE1 but... i wish they would do it like AoE4. A full skin nation. Maybe arround 0 - 200 A.D. I like the fact they inplemented rome in AoE2DE but its not the same and wrong time period of course. And centurios just dont lead by horse (i know - mechanic reasons i guess). But its kinda ironic for a game who called himself Age of Empires while we can't play THAT empire on his full potential.
I love the theme it's epic but honestly i think that would be more fittig for a Tribal culture like Celts /picts or Germans (the tribal ones not the sauerkrauts althought they are the same more or less)

I quite like how sinister this feels. Like, it doesn't feel quite majestic, it feels threatening. Which, I think makes sense for the Roman Empire
like the romans are going to attack some hostile kingdom

By far the best theme music in the game. Maybe I was a soldier in Rome in one of my past lives. That's why I'm impressed.
Goosebumps.

it's hilarious to see Romans on the march in the background video !! jood job pal!

now Age II has three italian fractions - romans italians and byzantium.
I don't classify the Byzantines as Italian...

That blue color tho xD
Im disappointed that they don't have British accents.
