The problem is a "Game Theory" and a "Tragedy of the Commons" problem. - game designers are personally incentivized to make infinitely playable games, for potential personal success - but the more players play, the less time they are required to spend on new purchases, and the less money they generated to spend on more games. So a game like Ballatro, say 50 to 200 hours, can erase 1-2-3 purchases of other games. The nearly impossible solutions to enact: - removing the "most played" charts, which tend to funnel games toward infinite play loops. - promoting, at the society level, productivity... which generates wealth and disposable income to spend on more short games.
I doubt it. His Witness sales alone can finish it. It’s more that the opportunity cost of developing larger/cerebral games is super high right now. Other things can generate much more money for less effort now.
Thomas brush def. doesn't. Hench why he has to suck out wallets with his scruffy course that is at a constant 30 or 40% off. I am very amazed that so many people still follow or even believe this Trump voting, snake oil seller. I am glad that reddit exists so people can read true game dev's concerns, where he can not block or delete comments.
Who is to say apart from him. But he's been going on 8 years development without a game, that's tough going. Plus Braid Remastered was an unexpected damp-squib for him, which was probably slightly terrifying.
@@michaelduan5592 according to Google The Witness made in net revenue $2,481,357.30. NGL he lives in California and pays a few employees, as well as his own cost of living, plus kids, taxes, healthcare. Yeah he's out of money.
To be frank, I'm quite sure anybody could have told him the current market / zeitgeist didn't care about a Braid remaster. It was a 2D Indy Darling from a specific time, if you bought it at the time there is no real need to buy it again.
Why was I not surprised BAD didn’t well? I don’t understand how it’s not kinda obvious tbh. It’s a remake of a platformer that was kinda mid even back when it was released 20 years ago.

He sounds like he doesn't have enough money to finish his new game.

"BAD"?! You are mid. Mid-way to being twice as stupid as necessary to not be able to type anything intelligible.
"mid"
