  • Meet the researchers shaping the world
Meet the researchers exploring what a just and fair transition looks like for dispersed Pacific Island communities that are off the grid.
Many factors can affect climate justice globally. In the case of four island communities in the Asia-Pacific region, what do the the varying levels of electricity access, physical access and geographical constraints facing them mean for a just and equitable transition? How do we ensure that a just transition can be made with no community left behind? Through experimentation and working with local communities, there may be a reliable way forward.
Asia-Pacific and UK researchers teamed up to explore new ways of supplying energy to remote areas and how to ensure these methods are sustainable through investigating the techno-economic and policy implications. The insights from the project will be shared with practitioners and policymakers to help shape policies for a just and inclusive transition.
