    I bought some truffle olive oil for my girlfriend once. I liked it but she thought it was a bit too strong. What I ended up doing was adding it to a pan and frying up ground sirloin for chili or ground Italian Sausage for spaghetti and lasagna. Gave the meat a bit of extra flavor. Sometimes would add a couple drops to the chili sauce. Also would add it to linguine with shrimp (I know you can't eat seafood) and Parmesan-Reggiano cheese. Would also work without the shrimp. I think I would go with the white. I just ordered the Truff salt to see how it is.

    What's the ratio of olive oil to truffle oil? Pure truffle oil comes in tiny bottles and you need just 1 or 2 tiny drops to flavour anything. A 50 ml bottle is about $15 but lasts a surprisingly long time because it's so potent. I wouldn't use it as a dipping oil, rather flavour a good olive oil with chili flakes, balsamic and rosemary for dipping... mainly because of how expensive the truffle oil is, I use it wisely, but do use it in something almost every day. Personally I find the black truffle oil to be stronger but in a blind taste test, I couldn't be sure.

      This one is an olive oil with truffle in it as opposed to the expensive concentrated pure stuff

  • @Lisa_Evers

    I also have this oil, and it's great. My biggest complaint, however, is the pour spout. When you pour - and especially if you want to pour SLOWLY and EFFICIENTLY - much of the oil simply spills down the side of the bottle. This then results in WASTED oil, and an oily, smelly outside surface. So I'm not only wasting precious truffle oil, but then I have to wipe down the side of the bottle, before putting it away. It stands to reason that when people use truffle oil, we typically want to do so sparingly...we don't want to just 'dump' a bunch of truffle oil onto the particular dish we are preparing. They really need to design a more effective spout.

    do you know that truffle oil aroma usually doesn't come from truffles?

    • @PapiEats
      @PapiEats  Год назад +1

      Yeah I've since learned about that chemical basically every truffle product uses. Interesting stuff. Still tasty though.

    • @jonathancormack
      @jonathancormack Год назад +1

      This is a misleading pretense. Its like saying vanilla aroma doesnt come from vanilla beans.
      Chemically, they are the same, one is just synthesized rather than naturally extracted.

    • @XxyGoddam
      @XxyGoddam Год назад +2

      @@jonathancormack nope, it's not the same. It is synthesised from petroleum, and has only one main molecule there, unlike in real truffel it's a cocktail of chemicals which give it unique taste. Many people would agreee that truffel oui has gasoline taste and is not really similar to the real truffel. And yes, vanilla aroma is different from real vanila, unless it's a real extract. You can taste and smell the difference, same as with pistaccio aroma. I don't mind overall the synthethised products when they are close to the original, I have my synthetised Alexandrite ring, it's much cheaper than the real stone and I don't mind. I think that at least people should be aware that it derives from petroleum, and not from "truffel extract" because truffel extract is kinda impossible(unlike with vanilla). even quick google says: "Vanilla extract and vanilla flavoring are not interchangeable in recipes. Vanilla extract is made from real vanilla beans and has a more complex flavor profile, while vanilla flavoring is made from synthetic or natural flavorings and has a simpler taste." It's basically not the same thing, and actually what you are saying is more misleading than what I've said.

    • @jonathancormack
      @jonathancormack Год назад

      @@XxyGoddam again, that is disingenuous and misleading. For all intents and purposes it is functionally the same.
      This is little to no difference from the inflated value of diamonds set by the DeBeers. Quite honestly its a dying industry scared on its way out.
