Jongdae basically got everything Kyungsoo and Baekhyun got in the K version to himself here.
because chen is the only stable vocalist for these songs. this song is pretty hard to sing with many high notes and chen is the only one who can sing it without hurting his voice and plus chen got all the hard parts. the only stable vocalists exo has are chen, D.O and Baekhyun. everyone must be at the same level to have an even distributed lines but that is not reality. sm gave them a hard song to sing with many hard parts and only chen, D.O and Baekhyun are stable enough for those songs.
I think Luhan or Lay might have been able to do it if they were given the chance

Chen sounds like someone who has trained his whole life and D.O even trained his vocal techniques before he became a trainee. there are some high notes that luhan hit but he is not able to do it without straining. exo had improved but they can't be at chen or D.O or Baekhyuns level only through a little bit of training. even D.O and Baekhyun said that chen is a whole new level compared to them and that is true. Chen has worked hard on his vocal techniques and his hard work has payed off. the only stable vocalist exo has that are stable enough for these these types of songs are D.O, Chen and Baekhyun. this song has many belted notes and that is kind of what chen is known for. Chen is a competent to good vocalist. D.O and baek are above average to competent vocalists. the others are weak vocalist that have underdeveloped vocal registers so there for they are not stable enough for these types of songs.

well 2 korean member here are vocal line, like Chen is main, Xiumin is lead. if Xiu didn't got that screaming part he's line will be less than Lay. If Chen has to share his part to chi member it'll still goes to Luhan.

Since we talk about Xiumin here, in their official homepage, since debut its mention Xiumin is "Lead vocal and Lead dancer". He got a little line in exo m but he's still a lead vocal just like Luhan.

On this Exo-M version you didnt count those Mama parts after Xiumin and Kris shouting. If it was the same on K version that would have looked also as bad as Tao with Chanyeol and Sehun
we didn't count because voices keep getting added every single mama you don't know who the voices are and many other sources don't know either

sm gave them a pretty hard song to sing and the only stable vocalist exo has are chen, D.O and Baekhyun. sure the others can sing too but only simple songs that doesnt require has many high notes or low notes. if sm gave too many hard lines to the others they might hurt their voices and might have to undergo surgery to heal their voices and it takes a long time to recover. we don't want that right?

I will admit Chen is my bias, but I don't think he should get the most parts. There are the other members who can good too, and I mean Tao only had like a few seconds
the thing people don't understand is that chen is the only stable vocalist in exo m. to be fair this song is way out of their abilities so it's very hard for the other members to sing this. I get that people think that they all are stable and don't really know what vocal techniques are but chen worked hard to become more stable than the rest and there for he got more lines when it comes to hard songs like this because he is the only who can sing it without hurting his voice. if the others sang his lines they can hurt their voices and might have to do surgery and it takes a long time to recover and we don't want that right? the only stable vocalist in exo are chen, D.O and Baekhyun. the others don't get as much lines as them because they haven't worked as hard as them in terms of techniques and there for they can't sing those high notes without straining the shit out of their voice. I do understand Chen is one of the only stable vocalists, but I wish the others had at least a few more lines. And no I don't want them hurting their voices, but if they gave them a few more lines Tao, Kris, and Luhan probably wouldn't have left because they were treated very unfairly.

reading the comments and just imagine how it would've been if Chen was placed in exo-k instead.. tbh i can't. SM's strategy was to put the strongest on exo-m and have 2 other mains on exo-k, but regardless I've always liked exo-m more. i like the group dynamics. i love the vocals, rapper and dance line. i especially loved Tao then (before Xiumin) coz he has a good singing voice, can rap, can dance, and full of swag. i guess it was ambitious of SM to use this as debut song knowing the vocal capabilities of the exom members. and i could just imagine how nervous Chen might've been. singing Mandarin songs in a foreign land with his co members being Chinese (except Xiumin ofc) and the possibility of having ppl judge him because he had most lines. i almost feel bad for him.

Don't be mad at Chen guys. This song isn't easy to sing, it has a lot of high notes. Yes, Xiumin has the highest voice but he doesn't have good control, therefore he couldn't do the parts. In 2013, Luhan did prove that he can hit high notes but maybe his voice just hadn't developed enough in 2012?? I don't know, that's what I think. My point is, it's not Chen 's fault.

Please Support NU'EST in Produce101 When Tao left, he basically proved that he has incredible musical talent. He can compose and write lyrics at the same time. His singing is alright, too.

What's with all the hate towards Chen? I honestly don't see the problem with him having the most lines. Yeah, Luhan probably could've gotten more lines. It might seem unfair that Chen got most of the lines but you do realize that his high notes (which he had a lot) count to his line description, and you know that boy holds a note for a long time, I mean sure they could have given it to another member.

If you guys watch the MR removed from their debut days, trust me. They HAD to make the strongest vocal get all the lines. This is coming from someone who's bias is Lay and he generally gets the least lines in most of EXO's title songs.

He is underrated really, I remember the time when Exo m is in the airport and no one give gifts to him, when all the members has their own. Imagine that, I could say that Exo m suffered a lot not only the Chinese members, Xiumin is underrated too. Chen volunteered to be in Exo m and he would get all this hate, imagine how could you sing so much in a language you barely even know and in a Foreign land? He(and Baek) only train for about 6 months

XsL Bccdks Luhan has always been a main vocal when he was in EXO. Even though he has already left the group, it’s still irritating to see people spreading lies about him. There’s absolutely no way EXO and EXO-M could’ve been popular in China if S.M. didn’t put at least one Chinese member as main vocal. If you have any doubts, please refresh your memory by listening to EXO songs like Miracle in December, What is Love, Moonlight, Open Arms, etc. where only the four main vocals (Baekhyun, D.O, Chen, Luhan) gets to sing.

I think the line distribution is fair. And I 'm not just talking about technique either. Chen gets the most lines and has to stay in the back of the choreography the entire time except for his solo parts. That may seem like a lot of time, but I guess people forget about that dance break and the chorus and the parts where the other members sing.

As sucky as it is with as many members as there are in Kpop groups it's impossible for a fair distribution especially since everyone has different roles in the group. But all we can do is support and enjoy the time that we get to hear each member sing or rap and see them preform :)

Chen got the most lines because exo-m has only one main vocalist (idk if luhan was a main vocalist or not) and exo-k had two.

There’s absolutely no way EXO and EXO-M could’ve been popular in China if S.M. didn’t put at least one Chinese member as main vocal. If you have any doubts, please refresh your memory by listening to EXO songs like Miracle in December, What is Love, Moonlight, Open Arms, etc. where only the four main vocals (Baekhyun, D.O, Chen, Luhan) gets to sing.

Guys, please stop blaming Chen because it's not his fault if SM gave him that amount of lines and I don't think they were wrong. This song is difficult and has a lot of hign notes that only Chen can sing.
He has the most singing skills among all Exo members and since the debut, also he is a main vocalist so that's normal that he has more lines than others like the main dancer is the one who should be in the front the more often.
Besides, this song doesn't really have a rap part to hear more Kris and Tao but I also agree that they should have more lines.
And don't forget Exo M has a more fair distribution in songs than Exo K if you look the other songs except this one :)

Yeah, it's not fair, but what do you expect of a song like this, with all those high notes, little rap part, and group vocals? Of course the only one who could pulled off those hard parts was Chen.
Also, Luhan's vocals weren't and aren't at the same level of Baekhyun, so he couldn't share some parts with Chen like D.O did with Baekhyun in EXO K. Moreover, it's not like Chen's at fault, the one to blame should be SM for giving EXO, this song as their debut, which is freaking hard to sing.
Anyways, this song has a lot of group vocals, where Luhan does sing, and also has a lot of dance, where the main dancers show off their moves.
i'll agree that Tao should have been given more but I agree with Chen's lines. EXO has 3 main vocals and 2 sub-units. 2 of the main vocals (Kyungsoo and Baekhyun) are in EXO-K and they do their own high notes separately, which leaves 1 main vocal (Chen) in EXO-M. With the high notes in the EXO-K, which is shared by the two main vocals, the remaining 1 in the EXO-M has to do it all. So it's pretty reasonable for Chen to get that amount of lines. (p.s. i'm not saying the others can't do the high notes. they can atleast share it with Luhan or Yixing)

Why is it when Kris has lower lines, people get really upset, but when Chanyeol has the same amount or even less, no one says anything?
Also, can people include center time as well? It would massively increase the amount of time half the members have. The big reason that Chen is so far ahead is none of his time is spent in the center, which means that almost every member has a bunch of time taken off of their timers while Chen is the only person who is actually getting all of their featured time counted.
