    What what an amazing piece of engineering!! I love the front end on MBs as of late, but that rear to the coupe is eh. Styling is great minus the rear, the interior is just gorgeous!! I love it the whole concept car layout!!
    Great work reviewing this coupe. At that price point I could never own such a car, you are spot on about the 1% -ters.

    Danny, all big AMGs (SL, S, S Coupe) have ABC suspension which is different than the regular Airmatic. Actually they have nothing in common. Regular Airmatic uses a small compressor and air bladders on all four corners. ABC uses high pressure hydraulic pump (close to 200 bars) and hydraulic fluid to control body movements.

    Great review, will admit though I
    would be happy with a C class AMG and I would rip out the sound proofing! Merc has done okay with replacing the old NA v9

    Hey Steve - Thanks for the clip !!
    I was driving the S 65 coupe for some hours in winter cause my dealer wanted me to get one S63. The S 65 was kind of boring to me. So, I wonder if the S63 feels more alive in any way. I know it was winter with winter tires and all the stuff...
    What do u think , Did u drive an S 65 as well?
    Kind regards from Oversea ;)

    I liked the video, but I prefer you to focus on the sensation of driving then say about the brochure. A magazine can show the specs.
    The presenter speaks in a good time, it's not too slow or too fast. So, focus on the sensation of driving than other things.

    What do you mean by "multi clutch transmission"? Does it have more than two clutches? If not you should really use "dual clutch".

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  9 лет назад +2

      Pali4life2 Indeed, the 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT transmission used in the S63 AMG Coupe and a host of other AMG models is a multi-clutch gearbox and differentiates itself from the 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT dual-clutch transaxle used in the AMG GT S by featuring an innovative start-up clutch, which runs in an oil bath and replaces a conventional torque converter. Thanks to its low rotational mass, the start-up clutch helps the transmission respond instantaneously and dynamically with no slip. Fitted with seven speeds, four shift modes and a double-clutching function, the MCT transmission offers impressive versatility and even faster shift times.

      TestDriveNow.com featuring Auto Critic Steve Hammes Good information, thank you Steve. Sounds like it has many components, hopefully it proves to be a reliable transmission.

    AMG engines aren't assembled by just 1 men per engine, they specialize on a part of the engine. Subsequently the name you see on the plate is choosen randomly from the group of people building the engines.

    • @justrandomthings319
      @justrandomthings319 5 лет назад

      Lies. The name on the engine is the name of the person who actually built the engine. You can even see it happening when you tour their factories.

    I kinda feel a little stupid by making this question, but i really don't know what that means exactly so I have to ask...
    What exaclty means when you say that the shifts are a little bit "clunky"? I mean, does it give a little bump feeling when it shift at low speed or something like that? I heard the same expression in different review videos and every time I feel that I'm not following the meaning precisely...

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  9 лет назад +2

      Von Green Read: not smooth with noticeable hesitation or abruptness between gear shifts

      Thanks for the feedback. I find pretty common to hear that about cars with dual clutch/multi clutch systems. I'm just an enthusiastic about cars but I think it may be caused by the lack of the torque converter that is common in the usual clutch systems. Anyway I'm just paraphrasing here. By the way; nice video and great review. I liked a lot of the angles that you show of the interior.

      Scott Villeneuve On point is an understatement. When I was driving, one pulled up next to me, and I almost crashed because I was staring at it. The outside, the inside; just GORGEOUS! There aren't many cars I would buy that costs over 100k (if I could afford them), but this is one of the few that I would get.

    • @scottvilleneuve5985
      @scottvilleneuve5985 9 лет назад

      chigasaki06 Definitely. The S63 sedan I drove was fast and sounded great, but I think the enhancements that they made to this coupe would make me go this route, especially since the pricing is near identical. Albeit, the rear seats aren't quite as usable in this. Would have to drive this though to see if I'd take it over the Bentley Continental GT V8S.

    • @teeduke2918

      chigasaki06 what's the difference between this and the s65 version?

    • @teeduke2918

      Scott Villeneuve I'll take the s65 coupe over the Bentley Continental GT V8S. I guess I would the s63 too right. anybody that would take the s65 over a Bentley I guess would take the s63 also. right? their both the same car.

    Some people bought this 9 year old car for $50k in 2024 and think they got a great deal. Prepare another 50k for repair bills. There are good reasons why original owner get rid of it after 4 years when warranty expires.

      DoubleD 613 yeah I hear you. the thing with that car is it's not a everyday car you would drive. for that price I would actually buy the s65 coupe over the Huracan. the huracan just doesn't offer you enough content. it's small and just doesn't have enough going on in the interior for me. the s63&65 coupe offers sport like driving. it offers luxury plus has a great interior. the interior in them is so gorgeous it's mind blowing. it is well worth the price and it offers you a lot more then it's price range rivals like the Bentley Continental , Lambo huracan. the only one that can compete with the s65 coupe and win is the Aston Martin Rapide s.
