This toy was the greatest thing 8-year-old me could get for Christmas. I wish I still had it, as it was the very first pre-rub with the gray roller. Once he reached the point that he could no longer stand from being transformed so often I got rid of it. I've already pre-ordered this, I know it won't be the same but I know it'll give me all the nostalgic feels.
So weird seeing G1 Prime with poseable limbs, but I'm loving it. I hope they do Megatron, cause it would feel weird to do one side's leader but not the other.
It's a tiny disappointment that Roller doesn't have his launcher anymore. In the version of the original toy I had, there was a spring loaded launcher that would propel Roller out of the trailer. That's why he has those two prongs on his rear end. It's a shame this version of the toy doesn't have that functionality anymore, even though the roller toy has the remnants of that feature.
Looks like a great figure. I particularly like how they have the hands attached and folding away in cab mode. A couple of things with the trailer: 1) The repair bay/blue section did not come off the trailer on the original (1984) release. 2) Roller was able to clip into a spring-loaded launcher at the base of the repair bay/blue section. The launcher was loaded by a lever/button that sat behind the repair bay (opposite side of the trailer to the ramp) and could send Roller down the ramp.
I just received mine. Be very careful with the legs. The sliders don't lock into place at the hip in bot mode. A lot of pressure is put on sliding joints for to the lateral hinge for sideways movement. And rotating joint at the thigh can be incredibly stiff, because of the chrome. You have to be very careful otherwise you will likely snap the leg off. I would suggest untransforming him and holding the top of the thigh and the middle of the thigh as best you can, and turning the thigh rotation jount very carefully until the joint is loosened up. I can also confirm that there is no launcher for Roller like the original toy, but the switch is moulded into the back of the trailer for accuracy. But amazingly, the missile launchers on the drone are fully working (!!!!) With a range of at least 2 m. This is something I haven't seen in a toy for about 30 years. :D
The original Prime had diecast only for his front cab/chest piece & front of his toes. It does bug me a bit that they omitted the Roller launcher, but left the pegs on the back of Roller. They could have removed the pegs for an original Diaclone/Cartoon accurate version of Roller instead. The repair drone was not removable in the original version, but could leave the trailer in the cartoon, so that's a nice touch.
AWESOME figure from the 80s...when I was a child didn't understand this was a collectible and I gave it away...regret it since then... I pre-ordered this one and while I'm watching your review, I'm excited to have it on my hands "once again" 😍...can't wait. Thanks for sharing.😁
To be honest, I don't think a child should be too aware of the "collectible" value of toys, and just play with them. Although, if more kids were aware of that, I suppose there'd be a lot more copies of classic toys out there for everybody, but those are the risks we sign up for as nerds.
Big Bad Toy Store has this for $120 us, still in stock too. This thing is retro through and through but better...wish I could've had figures like this back then...
nice to see videos on this guy already mine will be shipped next month I did preorder this guy but canceled it and preordered the other one the one without the trailer as this guy was to expensive for me but glad to at least have a figure from this mold and can't wait to see if other figures get this treatment great review as well
Except the added matrix, axe, and fold out fists, this is pretty close to the original. I still have mine in it's box from when it first came out. I stored his giant pop on fists in his opening cab. I have the US one, I love the Japanese box graphics.
For the price there's more they could've done with the figure to justify the price, because they're definitely hitting us fans with the nostalgia tax on this one. Maybe have the forearms slide back a bit to fix the long monkey arms he has. Or have the tires on his sides fold back for a cleaner look to get closer to the G1 cartoon and the corners of the bumper also fold in to complete the look. A ball jointed neck. I ordered one myself, but the one without the trailer since I already have a 4th party version that I purchased just to have the trailer and to have a "beater" G1 OP figure i can play around with.
The base version is pretty expensive as well, guess it depends how much a trailer + shipping is but I feel it would not be too different once you add it all up?
Yes you are right! He can swirl a bit, seems it was a bit stuff but loosened up after playing with him more. Meant to add a comment in the vid and forgot >_
You clearly haven't spent any time with this figure before reviewing it. You need to take your time to familiarise yourself with a figure before a review for a considered opinion instead of doing an impulsive first impression.
Fair comment, generally this is just my way of reviewing which seems to not align as well with Transformers, have updated title to reflect more towards the content and expectations :)
I preorder this thing and this video just makes me legit excited for it to arrive.

Completely Agree!

I know I want a Megatron so bad

Ah thank you for confirming the repair bay part, and yeah I was thinking Roller had a spot to slot into... glad I was not imagining things ahha
I love they included the Styrofoam tray. Really makes it look vintage.
Ah Optimis Primo! Very enjoyable.

It never left the trailer in the cartoon. The open trailer only appeared in one episode.
@@williamthompson5504 it rolled out the back of the trailer in Fire in the Sky to shoot down Skywarp.

Awesome! I am sure it will make you feel like a child again ^^ Hope your order arrives fast and safe.

Missing Link Megatron next, I have the Encore, TFC and Ehobby versions. We have to have Megs next.
Can’t wait for mine, I got both versions will have to wait a bit ordered via hasbro pulse.
Same here, hopefully Hasbro gets theirs soon.
Does the Hasbro Pulse one use English on the box or are they basically just importing and reselling via their site?
I really wish C-02 came with a screen accurate head sculpt and his own trailer.
Big Bad Toy Store has this for $120 us, still in stock too. This thing is retro through and through but better...wish I could've had figures like this back then...
Awesome, this is the first I’ve even seen of the box .. nice 👍

Thank God finally!!!!
They had a generations line called reveal the shield that had rub signs was only a single wave.
Just preordered this for $140 (after tax/shipping). It better have the Transformers branding.
Can Roller fit back in the styrofoam with the wheels on? Are the wheels permanently installed after the first time?

I used to store the fists in his cab as well. The way the new fists fold into him is a great update aye

missing ling is original g1 toys with added more articulation
2:43 Isn’t the artist’s name on the bottom right corner on the front of the box?
That is the Japanese box artist, pretty sure the original G1 art was done by someone else.
@@Rockchala_YT Oh, okay. I have no clue. I just saw an illustrators name there. 😅
BRO!!! HOW ARE PEOPLE GETTING THESE!? THEYRE STILL ON PREORDER!!!
Amazon Japan started shipping on Friday. They're arriving from there. That's where I got mine!
How did you get yours so fast?
I live in Japan and ordered on Amazon JP.
Really cool figure but I feel like it would be cheaper to buy the version without the trailer and then buy a cheap KO for its trailer.
The base version is pretty expensive as well, guess it depends how much a trailer + shipping is but I feel it would not be too different once you add it all up?
Sure, but you also dont get the paint details on that one.
I could kinda see some waist articulation at 19:04 Am I mistaken?
Yes you are right! He can swirl a bit, seems it was a bit stuff but loosened up after playing with him more. Meant to add a comment in the vid and forgot >_
@@Rockchala_YT Sweet. Does this means you can pose it as he looks on the art-box, or is it pushing things too far?
I will need to give it a try, once I do ill report back!
I just posted some photos on Instagram, he can get close, but he can not do the full swivel needed to match box art pose.
@@Rockchala_YT Thanks for the answer.
TheGreatfiguman - Rockchala are you G.I. Joe fan?
I was as a kid? But never really kept up with them.

Yup, I was literally thinking the same thing, this gives "im rushing" vibes through most of the vid
Or call it a first impressions video but don’t call it a review when you have no opinion formed yet
Fair comment, generally this is just my way of reviewing which seems to not align as well with Transformers, have updated title to reflect more towards the content and expectations :)

Honestly beats a general unboxing. I found it to be a good overview of what to expect.
exelente figura deberian reelanzar estos tipos de figuras 80 eras .solo que tuvieran mas articulaciones
We need ML soundwave
That plyifom insert is making my ears bleed aarrrhh that sweek it hurts 😮
I'm disappointed with the trailer but I love the authentic packaging inside and out, and of course the articulation
